V2.0 - Is updated for the new Herika standalone mod that is used by Mantella .012. This is NOT for the previous version of Mantella where only Herika had AI. Users of old Mantella use the old version in optionals. No new features have been added. Orignal author is looking into fixing the stand alone Herika. If anyone needs a fixed version of standalone Herika to use for now, dm me and I will send you a dropbox link. I do not want to step in authors toes, just want people who miss Herika to have her back.
v1.0 - fixes serious bug where too frequent polling while in combat was causing ctds. this has been corrected
(version 1.0 and 1.3 are identical except 1.3 has no flames spell)
The main download gives the follower the Flames spell
The variant in Optional downlaods has no flame spell
I would like to add more functionality to Herika, things like crafting potions, cooking, making arrows, eating etc. Can you point me to the information that showed you how to import existing functions?
huh? not like that. herika is an npc like any other npc. What affects a newly made npc in creation kit affects her. If you give her a behavior package that you made and place the package on top of the stock and run an evaluate package command on her that package will run doing whatever you programmed. Start a new Quest event and add herika as an alias and add a script to her which will allow her to react to many "On" events, such as OnHit, Onarealoade, ondying, on item removed and many others. For crafting potiosn you can run a timed script every x days or hours that checks her inventory and if she has the ingedients and a crqafting table is nearby you can have her use it and craft. If you forget about the crafting table you can just run the script and if she has the ingredients add potion to inventory and remove ingredients used and make a message box saying how she just made that potion. etc etc
The modding community discussion highlights exciting possibilities for AI to enhance gaming experiences. As systems like ChatGPT advance, their integration into games could enable more dynamic quests, stories, and NPC interactions. However, preserving human creativity and artistry within game design will be crucial. AI has potential to augment immersive gaming elements without replacing the core human role. Maintaining this balance, as modders aim to do, will lead to thoughtful innovation that keeps the human spirit at the center.
Hey Tony, could you change your description to clearly indicate that this is a replacer mod please? People are installing it with other replacer mods for Herika. I'll update mine to clearly indicate that they are incompatible. Thanks, Odey
I’ve used Celestine for a couple of years, so the concept ofreplacing Celestine with Herika is perfect. I’ve used this mod for the last week, and I’m having issues. Celestine heals at 50% health, but this mod doesn’t. It only occasionally heals my PC. Also, I’ve only seen this mod’s Herika make a wolf once, but Celestine conjures one at the start of almost every battle. This mod has never casted the light spell on my PC, but Celestine does any time that I enter a dungeon.
If those things worked, then this mod would be great.
Not like that. Celestine is a healer. Designed for that specific purpose. I wanted Herika to be a Spellsword, not just a healer. And for Herika to deicde when and how to heal or attack. I do no tlike predictable followers, I find that boring. Herika with this mod will also at times heal your allies, not just you. You hit on what I aimed for. Occasional this and occasional that. To spice things up. But I did not want her just to be a robotic at 50.025 percent you need to heal me. Boring to me.
That is just me. What you want is just as valid. If I had more time, I would make an MCM with more options, but time is not a thing I have anymore. I steal time from one place to give to another, sometimes to my detriment.
Is there any chance that you’ll make your source code available? I’ve never scripted for Skyrim, but I used to be a developer earlier in my career. I’d love the chance to hack around and tweak the way that my instance of your mod works.
I appreciate the hard work that you’ve put into this.
All the source code is packed with the mod. The psc files in source folder. You will need creation kit and to preserve your sanity use notepad++ setup for papyrus scripting. Pain to set all up, an evening. Getting the command line right for compiling the scripts is the worst part. There are addons like color coding functions and commands that help . You know more than me, I am not a professional coder. Just tips that I found useful.
please copy the credits info if setting up new page. And any permissions I can grant are given to you, do as you wish. I don’t require credit.
look forward to your changes if you choose to share. It’s what makes Skyrim modding so special, unlike the sims modding and many others. Skyrim keeps calling me back though Starfield has me for now.
Hey! First, thanks for the great mod. I do like having a healer on my side.
But when I tried to install the healer-only version, my MO2 would just not accept the zip file, whether I manually installed it or installed it via the MO2 downloads folder.
I tried using the regular version with fire magic, and that works fine, but I can't even open the file using 7zip because my computer says the file is stinky and I don't really know else to open and inspect it.
I should just be able to enter her inventory in game via console and remove the fire spell, but thought I'd let you know the file wasn't working for me.
Gave it a shot. I like the idea of her actually being useful in combat, but this mod overrides her audio files that I actually spent time modifying since I'm using a separate voice for her. Cracking open the creation kit for the first time, I tracked down that you're referencing voice files for some of them from the Data\sound\Voice\AddDiagToReplace.esp\FemaleYoungEager rather than the HerikaVoice folders. I haven't been able to figure out how to fix the dialog when you talk to her though. Just things like bumping into her.
not sure if that is possible or a good idea... we can try, but it needs the other as a master. maybe try to to mark it as esl in ssedit and see if it works, if you have time?
I compacted the forms and marked it as ESL in SSEedit. I tried it on a new game and had no immediate issues. I checked her stats, spells, etc. and they were changed by this mod accordingly. So, it "appeared" to work from my minimal testing.
Now, I don't know if there are hidden issues that might arise later. Do this at your own risk.

It's cool that this mod adds dialogue, but it'd been even better if it matched the voice i'm using.
It is flagged ESL, right?
