Am I supposed to get a crash log before reaching even the main menu? Removing this mod temporarily made the main menu show up again, only to get the same CTD after starting to add back some other big animation mods.
I'm not getting any crash logs either with .Net script framework or Crash Logger SSE. I'm pretty much at my wit's end, I disabled all animation mods and some even beyond that, still nothing.
your mod manager will tell you have missing masters or oldrim mods, which is probably the cause of your crash. But I am not sure this comments section is the right place for you to debug your crash.
I also got a ctd on launch with no crash log from this mod - pretty sure it was due to trying to convert it to OAR structure (for fun and to tidy up my mod folder), but none of the other mods I converted at the same time caused the same problem so something went a bit sideways somehow.
Reinstalling it after I (finally) figured out exactly which mod was causing it has fixed the ctd.
I don't think I need this mod, but nonetheless want to thank you for describing what it does in a coherent and easy to understand way.
Quite a lot of mod descriptions are written by people clearly well versed in computer science, but far less so in communicating effectively with other people.
No, I don't think so, there isn't any benefit it combining DAR with OAR when OAR is the far superior one and is actively updated, not to mention it is OPEN source unlike DAR, using both is probably going to cause a conflict.
Is there a mod that fixes the animation of the left hand when you have a staff in your right hand and you conjure it, the left hand flies into the sky? this is how it looks https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oJvm4yV13ppD1ZWeYrNV0Dpa0BfEoMqE/view?usp=sharing
this does not happen with all staffs and this is a bug in the vanilla game
yea, looks like this happens when you equip a fire and forget staff in your right hand and any spell in the left hand. It is a vanilla bug that happens with vanilla fire and forget aimed staves too. I am not an animator, so I can't promise a fix.

2. this mod is not the cause. it is literally some loose animation files.

And doesn't affect vanilla weapons.

we call it another name, though
and the staff is optional
