Is there a better way to replace the gradients with the colour I want? I wanted to make shock spells yellow using the ZKG Chroma Pack but couldn't make this one match it. I tried to use an online tool that replaces purple with yellow but the results were abhorrent. Could you please help?
The thing I used was gimp or paint.net. I can't remember which, but I just used the hue changer to slide the color from orange to purple. It took a while to get it just right. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful. Since this calls from the regular gradient textures, replacing them with a mod like you did should "just work." I'll take a look at that pack you were talking about and see if there is anything I can do to help
did some research and you would be missing a file called Mx_torchshock.dds. Mine is purple, so you'll have purple and yellow mixed. This would surely look ugly. I will see what I can do.
Uploaded a Gold patch version. Take a look and let me know if it works. If not, a screen grab would help immensely.
ive been trying to re color arctals 3D fx mod but i cant get it to show in game it either is invisible or is still orange how did you manage to do this?😭😭
Don't mess with the mesh. Just change the colors of the textures. gradfirestream04.dds is the main texture to change. I will upload a red version if you want one. You want red fire? or is it to make red lightning?
I put up a redder gradfirestream04.dds as an optional file. Adding a redder gradfireexplosion.dds as well. That should be all you need, but you can still adjust the colors in paint or gimp or whatever. Make sure that when you adjust colors that you save them in dds format and that it is a linear color space. If BC7 doesn't show up in game just lower the quality (like bc3) until it does, but bc7 should work just fine.
Hi! so i tested it out and this is what it looks like https://youtube.com/shorts/1ISLRfX9NCU?feature=share some of the particles are red but they have a black cartoony looking outline and the orb in the center of my hand is still orange and the flames inside of it are also orange as you can see. i replaced the textures in my skyrim vr textures/effects/gradients file location are they supposed to look like that or maybe i did something wrong? maybe you could upload it as a nif file instead like you did with the shockfx?
The hand effects are done, but the other stuff doesn't match. You'll need to redden up more fire gradients. Check out a program called BAU2. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/974 . Open Skyrim-textures4.bsa and extract the effects\gradients folder. Just make all gradfire.DDS files red. Fire stream should be red. This is all just texture work. If you slide it all red all the fire will be blood red.
i got it to work! thank you so so much ur the best! i just installed the red fire as a mod and opened the file and put in my own textures to get the desired effect and it worked perfectly (in theory i only checked it out in creation kit) but thank you so much for your help :,) eternally grateful
I am pretty sure I can just tell the mesh to use the gradient from Embers. The Embers mx_fire and MX_torchfire used by Arctal are very similar gradients. Nearly the same color, but I swap them out and see if there is a difference,
Check the Oranger Fire mod option download. If you use yellow, or yellow-orange it might not match as well, but This is a little redder at the tips than Embers, and a little whiter in the center. It will cover all hues in Embers. It is just the texture that the 3D casting calls for. It uses a Vanilla texture, so I broke it out of the BSA (textures -4, for those interested) and increased its saturation and leaned it a little more red. That's all. If you use yellow fire, just open gradientfirestream04.dds and slide the hue toward the yellow side. Ps. I have been informed that I forgot to put that in file format. I'll get that fixed, but it goes in steam\steamapps\common\skyrimvr\data\textures\effects\gradients\
Thank you! Yeh, I figured it would go there and tested it - will need some tweaking for my setup but now I know what to tweak tho, hehe so thanks again! Is there a similar file that's used for the central orb btw?
The central orb is the shockrune gradient. Oh wait, you meant fire. That the firerune gradient. It can be adjusted in paint.net or gimp if you wish, but the fireballs and bolts will appear too yellowish in comparison if you change the central orb without also changing the other gradients.
hi Hasphat Antobolis i'm m300n from reddit thank you so much for this i didn't expect you to actually create it after me just asking for it this is exactly what i wanted THANK YOU soooo much!!!!
will this work with voltage since that mod makes lightning blue?
Hey man, no problem. I like it too. I'm thinking of add some lightning bolts to it. Just like the original, but mixed in with these FX. So keep an eye out for updates.
As far as working with voltage, no. The middle will turn blue, maybe, if that just overwrites the textures that lightning use, but the swirls will still be purple. This file can be color shifted in Paint.net or Gimp easily. Slide the Hue to blue by 15 to 20 points and it will probably match.
Yeah, I can match that, but not yet. I have more stuff to do to this mod. I might change the custom file to be a regular file (one that get replaced by Voltage). If I make that change later, it will make this compatible with any lightning replacer, except red lightning, which uses a different naming structure for some reason.
Updated the orange gradient for the fire hand fx. Slid it 6 points toward yellow and it matches better now, with less of the redness at the edges. More orange. Much closer to Embers color for orange fire
Oh, yeah. I forgot. That guy was like, hey make that, and I was like sure. Also, it doesn't replace anything from Arctal's mod. It's some texture that I'm not sure what it is used for, and has not been replaced by any of my other 300 mods. Somewhere something is going to be redder than expected, but it will probably look good and match the Orange Embers better. But thanks for the tip, I'll put it in folders so people get use it with mod managers or just drop it in data folder.

Am I doing something wrong?

Question - would you be willing to create a small retexture for the fire FX? One that fits the color palette of Embers XD a tad more?

i never used Paint.net or Gimp so i don't know how to change the Hue color
edit: never mind i manage to change it to blue now its perfect
Thanks ..
PS.
May be worth placing your Oranger Fire replacer for Arctal's mod into a file structure for Mod managers.
(not everyone will be savvy enough to do it)
Both work great in game ... 😁
