I kindly asked the original creator of the LE version to port this over to SE Skyrim. I never had a response. As nice as it is to have yhus mod on SE Skyrim now it seems it is full of bugs, and crashes often.
If someone else would be so kind as to make a patch, or a fully working version of this mod, that would be fantastic!
The cause of the CTD issue when entering the inn seems to be that the mesh file (00015D97.NIF) of Jo'vassa's face that spawns in the inn cannot be converted correctly to the SSE version and fails to load. You can avoid this problem for the time being by overwriting it with the LE version mesh file. I'm worried about continuing to use the LE version files without converting them, so I would like to have a correctly converted file.
Thanks for the pointer! From what I gathered, the worst an incompatible mesh can do is crash your game, which you solved, so I wouldn't worry about it. I tried lazily converting it using nifskope (spells>sanitize>fix invalid block names) which didn't seem completely successful, but replaced it anyway and no more crashes in Morthal.
I can't recommend this mod in it's current state as it bloats countless npc inventories with black horse courier newspapers. Pretty good otherwise, but I wouldn't add it to my load order without some edits+the fix down below.
Edit: Found more bugs. Causes my game to consistently crash in Moorside Inn (Morthal) and it seems like courier notifications (for delivered notes) stopped appearing completely.
This mod appears to break sacrosanct with custom races... without mod my custom race gets recognized no problem, with the mod I get an error and my race is reset to Nord Vampire... not sure if an issue with this mod or Sacrosanct, disabling this mod fully fixes the issue, load order appears to have no impact.
So, for some reason(which could very well be a bloated modlist), this mod gives me a CTD when entering the Sleeping Giant's Inn in Riverwood. Just something you might want to test out if you're getting mysterious CTD's around the black horse courier.
Love this mod but realy am having a hard time reading the notes :/ kinda kills the immersion on an otherwise fantastic mod. will you be looking into trying to fix the formatting issue?
I'm sorry if it's hard to read because it's machine translated English, but I found a way to read it for now, though it's far from perfect.
Easy way Open the ESP of this Mod with xEdit and rewrite the Model FileName of _SAG_BHC_CourierStatic in the Static group from BHC_Inventory_Note.nif to Clutter\Books\Note01\Note02.nif. This vanilla mesh looks the same as SS.
A more immersive way 1. Extract the above Note02.nif from vanilla BSA, rename it to BHC_Inventory_Note.nif and replace it. 2. Open the replaced nif file and specify the outer texture to BHC.dds. 3. Adjust BHC.dds to fit the mesh. Specifically, it is horizontally stretched and left-right reversed. Now the outside appearance of the BHC note will reflect the original texture. Well, it looks like it's not perfect even to flatter.
Unfortunately, there are a few places where text doesn't display correctly with either method. This could be improved by adding proper line breaks to the text.
I really hope the textures are made to match the specs of the SE notebook.
