Thank you for making this mod! You're a saint, honestly. If it's possible, would you be able to do one that gets rid of coughing and throat clearing voice lines? It's one of my biggest triggers.
Unfortunately, I took a look through the files and could not find those specific sounds. Stuff like the eating and drinking sounds, or horse sounds were easy to find and replace because they were labeled and categorized by Bethesda in a way that made sense (for example, one of the eating sounds in the files is called "itm_foodeat_01.wav").
The voice and dialogue sounds are a mess in the folders and all have names like "da08__000df1b0_1.fuz" or "dialogueco__00093596_1.fuz" with no categories or descriptions and there are maybe tens of thousands of them, so finding the specific coughing and throat clearing files and replacing them would be a nightmare.
Sorry I couldn't help. I'll let you know if I figure something out, but I don't think there would be an easy way to do it for those specific sounds.
I teared up a bit when I saw this! Misophonia is something people rarely even acknowledge and usually assume is fake, but those who suffer from it very much know how much harm it can do to us or others. I immediately sent this to my friend who doesn't even play Skyrim so that we can be excited to see other's like us out there! I deeply appreciate this mod and I will be sure to spread it as much as I can!
Thank you so much for this, I have pretty severe misophonia. I actually was wondering if you could possibly do a version that removes horse noises? For some reason, those really set me off. I've tried to remove them myself, but for some reason, they still persist. I would be so grateful!
No problem! Sure, I could remove the horse noises, would you like EVERY horse sound removed entirely or a specific sound (walking, breathing, neighing, death sound, etc.)?
I went ahead and created a separate download to remove the horse sounds, you can download it on the "files" tab of this page under the "optional files". Keep in mind, I removed ALL horse sounds, even the walking sounds, if you want to keep stuff like horse walking sounds but remove everything else, let me know and I can change it! It'd be a really quick and easy change.
THANK YOU! Now I can go in towns with my sound on! Do I need to patch it with immersive sounds compendium/audio overhaul for skyrim? I use the sound record distributor mods. SRD
I am not familiar with the Sound Record Distributor but I'll look into that and I'll try to figure out how to get this mod working with Immersive Sounds soon! I'll let you know when I get that figured out.
Hadn't really noticed it in Skyrim - probably because I play with background ambient noise / music, and I can usually tune eating noise out unless everything else is quiet. That said, this is a brilliant idea.
Just watched the video you included, and yeah - the original sounds without any background noise are nasty. I suspect someone with more serious misophonia might have trouble playing Skyrim without starving.
I'm not the type to complain or demand "special treatment" because of my quirks, but it's still good to increase awareness over things like misophonia. Nexus doesn't even have it in the spell checker for their comment editor...
