Nether's Satyresses - Followers and Framework

This mod provides you with 5 new Satyress followers with unique abilities and voices. There are quests provided for acquiring them, getting them a home and for adding new followers through add-ons and other mods. It can also be used as a master to play as a Satyress or to create new Satyress followers. It is a light master (flagged as esm and esl).

REQUIRES:

The mod supports the following bodies, based on what you have installed for base females in your game:
- CBBE
- CBBE with Physics
- 3BA
- BHUNP

- Body and head textures are provided.
- Bodyslide files are provided for tail and hooves. There are base meshes provided for default 3ba, CBBE and BHUNP. You MUST run Bodyslide if you have your own custom one in order to match your installed body shape. If things do not fit properly you did not run bodyslide.
- An option is provided for CBPC to allow the tail to have physics motion.
- An option is provided to use human feet instead of hooves. Esl-flagged esp.
- An option is provided to support playing as a (female) Satyress. Esl-flagged esp. Requires RaceCompatibility.
- Since you can generate new npcs with this mod, High-Poly Head is not included and must be downloaded from https://vectorplexis.com/files/file/283-high-poly-head

MOD FEATURES:
- 5 Followers with special abilities. Each follower has a different theme. Each is capable and stightly stronger than normal followers, being daedra protectors. Each is furred with horns, hooves and tails. Supports UNP and CBBE based bodies.
- 5 new, custom digitally-created voices, one for each follower.
- Quest content that involves bringing each across from menhirs scattered across Skyrim and then finding them a home.
- Extra encounters via Forsworn that persue you and hostile creatures that can come from Hircine's realm.
- Racemenu support for creating your own Satyress followers or playing as a Satyress.
-- Automatically will use hair such as KS Hairdos or Apachii if you have one or the other installed.
-- You can create standard poly or high-poly heads.
-- Includes 11 brows + 11 darkly colored brows + 1 no brows.
-- Includes 16 eye colors with custom textures.
-- Includes 24 different types of horns + no horns.
- Support for integrating new followers into the menhir system that fits into the rest of the mod.

PERMISSIONS:
- You are allowed to create followers requiring this mod as a master. Additionally, there are instructions included to help you along (given that you have basic follower creation knowledge) and to show you how to integrate them into the mod to keep the same theme with the menhirs, the portals from which the Satyresses appear.
- You are allowed to create any mod that expands on them or adds new features, as long as requires this mod as part of the master files list.
- You are allowed to use the custom voices provided in your own mod work or to add features to this mod. You can remix, splice, AI-enhance or emulate these voices as needed.
- I'd glad to provide a courtesy link to any Satyress-based mod you create if you let me know about it.

This was provided in an earlier version a while ago but has been updated with the following:
- Quest content to acquire the Satyresses by retrieving an item, the Huntsman's Stone from the Forsworn.
- Quest content to provide a home for them at Lost Valley Redoubt after you clear the Forsworn out. Amenities are provided such as workstations. There is also a stripping pool near the waterfall. This is optional.
- Optimized textures, partially AI-upscaled on the body maps.
- New appearances and appearance tweaks for the gals. Some have different abilities.
- Automatically updates head parts forms so that Apachii Hair or KS Hairdos will work automatically in the Race Menu.
- No MCM. You set options by talking to one of them.
- Many lines of specific Satyress dialogue and idles for furry flavor!
- Can be used as a framework for creating your own Satyress followers or NPCs.
- Light-Master file to save you modding room.

HOW TO START:
- After installing the mod, kill a Forsworn and a quest to acquire them will be set into motion.

QUESTS:
Here is a walkthrough on the quests to help you along.

The theme of the mod presents the Satyresses as humanoid Daedra that serve the prince Hircine. They can be called forth into Mundis as servants to anyone who possesses the Huntman's Stone, a relic of Hircine. A faction of Forsworn have discovered the location of the Stone and seek to acquire it to use it as tool, along with the Satyresses, to help them gain the upper hand in the Reach.

The "just so happens" to intercept a Forsworn carrying instructions on where to find the Stone and it further emphasizes that a briar heart is required at each menhir location, in order to help it weaken the veil between Tamriel and the Hunting Grounds, Hircine's plane. NOTE: If the note lands inside of an object, through the magic of Skyrim's engine, you can enter the console and type: "setstage nwsSatyrGemQuest 5" to re-orientate the quest and read the note in your inventory.

After acquiring the stone, the player must travel to 5 menhir locations across Tamriel, in order to bring across a Satyress at each one.

As the travels to the menhirs, groups of Forsworn are in pursuit and may be encountered along the way. This is also a source of addition briar hearts, as each has a boss Briarheart leader.

Once you acquire all the Satyresses, you need to have at least one as a follower. A Satyress will, within a few minutes, tell you that they need a place away from the cities that they can call home. This will start a "kind of the mountain" type quest where you have to defeat the Forsworn and reach the top.

There are a lot of them, and though the quest has been adjusted, it is intended to be challenging. You may wish to take 3-5 followers with you to complete the quest.

Once the area is retaken, it is considered a player home and the Satyresses will default to living there. There is a large pool area that they can strip at and plenty of bedrolls and other amenities.

After you have completed the two main quests for the Satyresses, any follower add-ons designed for them that are intended to be "integrated in" will start a quest called From the Wilds that allows you to acquire additional Satyresses at one or more menhirs. You do not need a briar heart to bring them through, being touched by the Huntsman's Stone is enough.

PORTAL BREACHES:
Any time you activate one of the mehnirs and thin the veil between Mundis and the Hunting Grounds, there is a chance that curious and hostile denizens of Hircine's realm will wander through. This can happen during the main quest when you open the portal for the first time or if opening them due to integration of new Satyress followers.

Currently, the possible types of breaches are: Spriggans plus a Matron, a mix of Wolves and Werewolves, a band of Skimpy Savages, a pack of Giant Bristlebacks or Frost Sabrecat and their Giant Handler.

NOTES:
- In the base version, followers cannot use footwear, as they have hooves. The skeleton was tweaked to raise them to accomodate for hoof displacement. If you try to put footwear on them, they will be floating above the ground. There is an option in the installer for esp-flagged esps (one for npcs, one for the player) if you'd rather them have normal feet. You can't have both - it's one or the other.
- Heavy and Light armor versions of the hooves can be created at the forge and tempered. This will allow you to take advantage of certain perk benefits but they don't look any different from normal hooves.
- Effort has gone into reducing seams between the body and head but it's not 100% perfect.
- Head textures use Nuska's textures as a base but have been heavily redesigned. Body textures have been upscaled to 4k, head textures are 2k.
- Some horn variations were built by me using existing parts.
- When referenced by other mods, their names can show up as lower case.

RACE SPECIFICS:
Race: Satyress
Origin: Servants of Hircine, Saytresses can enter Mundus from the Wild Hunt by opening portals in certain areas using artefacts such as the Huntsman's Stone. They are furred and have a goat-like appearance. They are very fast when moving and skilled in fighting and survival.

Racial Abilities: Increased running/sprinting speed (+50), 2-handed weapon speed increased by 15%.

Customization Features:
- Heads and most maps are 2048 x 2048, body diffuse textures are 4096 x 4096 to match better with head resolution. There are no other versions offered.
- All standard Hair Colors + a few more.
- All KS Hairdos referenced and usable as hair in CK or Racemenu.
- All standard human Skin Tones.
- 24 Horn Styles + No Horns variant (colors DO NOT change with skin color).
- Faun Tail (color matches skin color).
- 3 Freckle styles that can be applied as "Dirt" layers, in brown, red, blue, green and black colorations. Maps 1-3 range from light to dense.
- 11 Brow Styles + No Brows from Maevan2's Eye Brows with full hair color version and near-black version (23 total).
- 16 Custom Hybrid Eyes based on textures from Natural Eyes.
- Cubemaps from Improved Eye Reflections and Cube Map.
- New Tintmasks for frownlines, eyeliner, neck and nose.
- Customized skin textures highly modified (particularly the head) from Nuska's resources.
- Vampire version of the race for race compatibility.

FOLLOWER SPECIFICS:
- All followers are on the stronger side of hero-level followers. They are tough but not undefeatable.
- Some follower abilities are voice-activated so that they do not need to switch out their weapons in order to cast. This follows along the theme I'm going for as the Satyress being divine protectors and hunters.
- Followers level from 5 to unlimited. All mariable.
- Each has 2 or more unique abilities.
- Each follower has a different, unique voice type. Future add-ons to this mod will likely reuse the included voice types.
- All followers use vanilla follower system by default. Can be easily managed with NFF, AFT, EFF, etc.
- All have Lightfoot perk.
- None affects the PC's stealth meter.
- All have perks to allow them to benefit from Alchemy and Skill Boosts from enchantments.
- All have perk which links Magnitude of Destruction Spells to Attack Multipier. You can use Nether's Follower Framework or similar mods to modify Attack Multiplier which will also modify Destruction spell damage.
- Each has custom combat style.

Common Powers and Abilities:
- Nature's Shield - Similar to Oakflesh (40 defense) but is voice-activated and has double effect when not wearing armor.
- Nature's Armor - Similar to Stoneflesh (60 defense) but is voice-activated and has double effect when not wearing armor.
- Nature's Protection - Similar to Ironflesh (80 defense) but is voice-activated and has double effect when not wearing armor.

General Follower Design:
Three of the followers are designed to work around a two-handed combat style. I see the Satyresses as mystical defenders that favor larger weapons. One follower has an archery style and there is only one caster, who is more of a healer type but works well offensively. Most of the abilities that the weapon users can cast are voice-activated so that they don't have to switch their weapons out to do that.

MODDING - CREATING FOLLOWERS:

If you are an experienced modder or have at least a base understanding of creating followers for Skyrim, you can plug new followers in as Satyresses fairly easily. I have provided an easy way to allow you to set them up if you want to use one of the 5 provided voices and want them to feel more or less integrated into the mod. In the instructions below, you can substitute "xEdit" for "Creation Kit" if you are skilled with using that instead.

If you are creating followers using the Satyresses as the core, using the instructions below, you could clarify that on your mod page: Integrated into Nether's Satyresses (or similar statement).

Note:
When using the Creation Kit, I found it much more stable to use xEdit to temporarily remove the ESL flag from NWS_Satyress.esp and leave the ESM flag intact to allow it to act as a master, without overwriting it. Just remember to add the ESL flag back to the core esp after you're finished with the CK.

1. First, create your follower Actor record in the Creation Kit as you would normally for any new follower.

a. For Race, choose nwsSatyrRace.
b. Under Skin, NONE should work as the Satyress skin exists on the Race, but you might wish to change it to nwsSatyrSkinNaked.
b. For VoiceType, pick from one of the 5 voices provided. They all start with "nws" to keep them grouped together. Picking an included voicetype here automatically allows your follower to use the dialogue provided in the core or for future add-ons that utilize the voice.
c. For Factions, you can include the standard ones needed for followers if you wish. However, if any are missing the Integration system will add them for you automatically in-game.
d. Similar to Factions, you can create a relationship to the Player if you wish but this will be automatically created in-game, if needed.
e. In the Character Gen Parts tab you can select all the various parts, including Horns, for your follower and then use the basic sliders in the Character Gen Morphs tab. If you are skilled at using the RaceMenu mod to create npcs and followers, you can augment what you create using that.
f. If you wish, you can add packages to your follower but they will automatically go to the Satyresses' home location when active with an alias, so it isn't completely necessary to add anything.

2. Add a Script to the Actor record of the follower you just made. On the far left, under all the general npc flags is a section that shows Scripts, Papyrus Scripts. Click on "Add" (wait a few minutes while the CK churns) and in the search box type: nwsSatyr_NPC. Select this script and add it to your follower.

a. Double-click on the script you added and when the Properties box pops up, click on Auto-Fill All at the bottom.
b. You will see an unfilled Property called "myPortal" that shows as <>. This is for integrating your follower into the world system, the menhirs that the Satyresses come through. If you leave this as is, then it will select a random one. You can use the numbers 0 through 4 to set a specific one if you'd prefer to edit it.

The specific location numbers translate to the following menhirs:
0 - Menhir of Barleydark
1 - Menhir of Kjenstag
2 - Menhir of the Matron
3 - Menhir of Steamcrag
4 - Menhir of Karthwasten
(-1) - Default, add to a random menhir, chosen when the game loads.

3. In the Skyrim worldspace, place your follower in the world as you would normally. You do not need to disable them as the system will automatically do this for you when they are integrated in.

4. When a user plays with your mod, a new quest will start that directs the player to going to one (or more, if you create multiple followers) of the menhirs to bring the followers across into Mundis.

a. This quest only starts once the two main quests for the Satyresses mod have been completed, including Home Away From Home. This because new followers are also integrated into the Satyresses' home location.
b. Once the player changes location, the quest should pop up.
c. If multiple followers are installed, they will all be integrated together into this quest.
d. If the player completes the quest and then adds new followers later, the quest will run again.
e. Currently, there is a maximum of 50 additional followers that can be added and I can increase this in the future if a lot of followers are being created. This limit is only for automatically placing them at the home location intially. If, for some reason, there are more than 50 additional followers, they will just be standing where you put them.

Can I just make a follower and not integrate it?
Sure, you can make as many followers you wish and add them as you would normally without adding the script.

Can I use a vanilla voice and not one from this mod?
Yes, you can use Female Young Eager or whatnot and whether you integrate it or not it will work normally. It will not have any of the new dialogue though. When using a vanilla voice, you must be using a follower supported voice for vanilla or using an additional voice through something like RDO.

Tips and Tricks for Satyresses followers:

- The Satyresses can dance randomly in inns due to an empty idle placed on them. You may wish to add the BardAudienceExcluded faction to your follower to keep them from raising a glass and clapping during bard scenes.
- The perk, nwsSatyrFriendlyFirePerk, may help your follower engage less in friendly fire.
- You can use the Global Variables, nwsSat_summons (for general summoning) and nwsSat_summonInt (for interiors summoning), on your follower's custom spells to allow them to follow the player's summoning choices that they can set when talking to a Satyress.

Q & A:

Didn't you make some Satyresses a while back?

This is a rework of an older mod that was starting to spiral out of control with content that I was creating locally, so I didn't update the original version. I decided to tighten up the mod and rework it to be more modular and to be flagged as ESL so that users have room to play with more content.

The original idea for this mod was inspired by a Satyress mod created by TripTheRift, a long time ago. I created the mod using a good bit of Nuska's resources and then reworked the meshes and textures.

Why are there Different Voices?

This mod contains digitally created original voiced content for a couple of reasons. First, it gives them a unique feel for those that might be tired of hearing Female Young Eager constantly when messing around with followers. Second, due to the current fervor around AI-generated voiced content, I felt that the best direction is to use new voices so that real world voice actors aren't affected.

Why are there no Satyrs?

This mod is provided as female due a few reasons. First, there are far more female resources to use and I'm not expert at every aspect of mod making, so I tend to go with my strengths. Users are also more inclined to download female content, so creating all the assets, including textures and voices for Satyrs has far less gain versus the time required.

If you'd like to explore male content, the Driinkiin Deer race might be helpful: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/55687

Why does my Satyress Float Above the Ground when I put Boots on her?

You are using the hooves (base) version that adjusts the skeleton height to compensate for hoof displacement. I went this direction instead of requiring RaceMenu offsets or SMP heels effects.

Hooves do not allow footwear but you can create armored hooves at the forge and improve them that way. If you want normal feet that allow boots and shoes, install the normal feet option in the installer. It can't be both ways.

Can I have Non-Furry Satyresses?

I didn't provide this option because I feel it ventures too far away from the core aesthetic. However, if you are a modder and want to create a human-skin addon, I'm not opposed to it. I would recommend directly replacing the textures with human maps as it would be the path of least resistance when it comes to addons.

Can I Keep them From Saying or Doing Specific Things?

You can talk to any Satyress to bring up a dialogue that allows you to toggle many features of the mod, including the types of lines spoken, how often they say idle lines and whether or not they can summon things.

This is a semi-adult mod and there are some (cutesy) innuendo lines and some pretty silly ones, at times. Going along with Greek lore, I felt that they would be the types of entities that would be permiscuous and frivolous in nature.

Why Don't They Have Features Like Outfits or Wigs?

I'm trying to keep my mods, light, tight and modular from this point on, and to lend them to being used as resources that makes it easier for other mod authors to expand on them or create their own things based on them. So, some of the very technical things are not going to be pursued and to be honest, it creates a very long development cycle when there are a variety of standalone options.

That being said, there is a lot of work provided here, so it's not being lazy. The voicework and polish takes a huge amount of effort.

I'm Doing the Quest to Acquire the Main Satyresses and the Portals Don't Activate.

You need to make sure that you have enough briar hearts. One is consumed at each menhir and the body that is near the note you found has 3 on it. Encounters along the way have boss leaders, which each carry a briar heart.

Do you have any Add-On Content on the Way?

Here are the addons in the works if you are a fellow modder, or just curious. All names may be tentative:

Satyresses - Frolic, a sex and dancing mod.
Satyresses - Darkness, adds 3 new Satyress followers, each darkly themed.
Satyresses - Mythos, adds 3 new Satyress followers, each with a mythological or nature theme.
Satyresses - The Hunt, adds additional quest content.

Why is this an ESP instead of an ESL/ESM?

Just for ease as a developer, using the CK and other tools, this is a esp flagged as esm and esl, a light master. I can make any CK edits without it destroying versioning information and having to constantly rename the mod. It will load after any normal esm and before any esp that aren't flagged esm.
