About this mod
Strengthens the Vampiric Drain spell and allows for experience gain for both Vampiric Drain and various Vampire Lord spells.

This mod is mostly made for people who want to stick to vanilla Vampirism for whatever reason, but wished it was a bit better in terms of long-term progression and allowed you to ACTUALLY roleplay as a vampire while not being forced to use spells that grant no sense of progression and deal just enough damage to tickle a pigeon.
The following Vampire Lord spells now grant experience:
- Raise Dead (Conjuration)
- Conjure Gargoyle (Conjuration)
- Corpse Curse (Alteration)
- Drain Life (Destruction)
Note: Destruction experience gained from Drain Life is very minimal. While I COULD increase it, I figured it best to leave it at vanilla values to avoid potential issues/conflicts and keep a more balanced progression since Drain Life also grants you Lifeblood Points for Vampire Lord perk progression.
The total experience gained at the end of my rampage.
Alteration went up from 15 -> 24
Destruction went up from 20 -> 23
- Vanilla Stage 1 -> 2 hp per sec (2 mp/sp drain per sec in addition if blood of the ancients is active.)
- Vanilla Stage 2 -> 3 hp per sec (3 mp/sp drain per sec in addition if blood of the ancients is active.)
- Vanilla Stage 3 -> 4 hp per sec (4 mp/sp drain per sec in addition if blood of the ancients is active.)
- Vanilla Stage 4 -> 5 hp per sec (5 mp/sp drain per sec in addition if blood of the ancients is active.)
- Modded Stage 1 -> 5 hp per sec (2.5 mp/sp drain per sec in addition if blood of the ancients is active.)
- Modded Stage 2 -> 10 hp per sec (5 mp/sp drain per sec in addition if blood of the ancients is active.)
- Modded Stage 3 -> 15 hp per sec (7.5 mp/sp drain per sec in addition if blood of the ancients is active.)
- Modded Stage 4 -> 20 hp per sec (10 mp/sp drain per sec in addition if blood of the ancients is active.)
In case you were wondering...
hp - Health Points
mp - Magicka Points
sp - Stamina Points
Reasoning behind half drain strength of Magicka and Stamina:
- To avoid infinite casting of vampiric drain while blood of the ancients is active and overall balance reasons.
Vampiric Drain now grants Destruction skill advancement experience. (No scripts were used in the implementation of this feature.)
There are two variants of this mod:
- The ShockSFX version is for people who don't use Immersive Sounds Compendium (ISC) and play with the vanilla sparks sounds on Vampiric Drain. Does not require ISC.
- The FearSFX version is for people who use Immersive Sounds Compendium (ISC) and play with the new Fear Illusion sounds on Vampiric Drain. Requires ISC. (Personally I like this more since it fits the spell more than shock sounds but don't let that dictate what you prefer.)
Old Cost : 6/10/13/17 mp per sec (Vanilla setting)
New Cost : 6/12/19/26 mp per sec (Modded setting)
Not affected by Half-cost Perks. (Vanilla setting, Unchanged)
However, the Magicka cost IS affected by Fortify Destruction enchantments.
(Please note that Vampiric Drain will not work on Dwarven machinery since you cannot drain automatons. This is a vanilla feature and not specific to this mod.)
Requirements:
- None (If using the ShockSFX version.)
- Immersive Sounds Compendium. (If using the FearSFX version.)
Installation:
- Copy the esp file into your data folder or just use your favorite mod manager. (I used Vortex. Should work fine with other Mod Managers as well. *fingers crossed*)
- You can safely flag this as an ESL in your mod manager if you want.
Uninstallation:
- Delete the esp file in your data folder or just use your favorite mod manager.
It should be fine to install/uninstall mid-game but you really should get into the habit of not adding or removing mods mid-playthrough lest you incur the wrath of a buggy Skyrim on your save file.
Compatibility:
- This is a simple .esp file that changes some stuff related to Vampiric Drain and some Vampire Lord Magic Effects. As such, if you use another mod that changes the same things as this mod does, then I imagine this is a simple case of "ye who loads last, shall win this conflict". If there are any compatibility issues and/or bugs let me know and I'll see what I can do.
- I do not recommend using this with some of the vampire overhauls out there since they make a lot of changes that directly/indirectly affect the Vampiric Drain spell and therefore are not compatible with this mod.
- I play on SE 1.5.97 version so can confirm it works on it. I don't know about AE so if you play on it, you'll need to try it out and see if it works or not. I have no reason to believe that it shouldn't but I'm new to modding so can't be 100% sure.
