Version 1.1 should reliably add the fix to any character with no need for console commands or spell tomes! EDIT - version 1.2 has actually REMOVED the spell tomes, as we are now confident they are not needed!
(Big THANKS to jahmon808 for helping me with that!)
Just want to say thank you for this life saving survival tweak. knowing what my health is at before getting into a fight allows me to better prepare. And the little bit of health regen is also a huge help especially for early game survival playthroughs. Again Thank You so much for this simple yet amazing mod :)
Works great for me - thanks ! One thing I would adjust for a more grueling experience is to cut the rate by half - where would I adjust this in SSEEDIT ?
Here's how to cut the rate in half... Go to the SPELLS category... You'll see the spell called FIX HEALTH BAR... Scroll towards bottom where you'll see MAGNITUDE... The current value is 0.070000... Change that to 0.035000. SAVE your change. DONE!
EDIT - If you've already made a save with the mod installed, it's possible that your tweak won't take effect until a new playthrough (or until you console command to remove that spell from your character and then add it back on... player.removespell [SPELL ID] player.addspell [SPELL ID]
The spell book is still in the esp even though it can no longer be crafted. Not sure if you're keeping it on purpose. Also I recommend adding the ESL flag under "Record Flags" in the "File Header" section so it doesn't count against mod limit.
Yeah i left it in just case, but it's not needed. I've yet to learn what esps are candidates for ESL vs not... so that's why i didn't do the esl, but i can next time I'm at my computer if you're sure it's safe(?) Thanks, ~dan
Hi, this works absolutely fine, at least for a series of new characters that I tested. I did an SSEEdit taking out the spell tome and it is much better without the unnecessary crafting recipe there.
I think you ought to get rid of the spell tome as it's a little annoying to have it there every time you hit the crafting station
Really good little fix, though. I really appreciate knowing my health if injured and not having to check the skills screen constantly. Thanks again Dan
You can add the spell to your character via a quest (not an actual in-game quest) in SSEEdit. 1. Add a new Quest 2. Set the flags to "Start Game Enabled" and "Run Once" 3. Add Forced Reference (under Aliases) and set it to PlayerRef [PLYR:00000014] 4. Add an Alias Spell and set it to PCHealthBarFix.050923 "Fix Health Bar" [SPEL:66000800] Done!
You can remove the spell book and crafting option because the spell will auto add to character upon first load.
Okay, so, i followed your steps to a T, (except there was no player 00000014 (only 00000007), but other than that followed exactly, but, when i tried testing, nothing happens. :-( I have no idea why.
Hmm, that's weird that there's no PlayerRef. Did you try copy/paste "PlayerRef [PLYR:00000014]" ? I don't think it'll work without that. In the list of loaded mods, is there SkyrimSE.exe at the top?

player.removespell [SPELL ID]

Enjoy.
