Hello - thanks for your patches. Just looking in xEdit, I have the DNBE_Sunhelm.esp which as per load/deployment order, is getting overwritten by the misc item category of this patch. I'm wondering if I should create a merged patch of the two or give DNBE sunhelm priority?
As I have never used Sunhelm, I honestly cant say which would work correctly... I would try testing out giving the DNBE_sunhelm.esp priority and if it works great but if it doesn't then make a back up of the mods and try merging them, you'll just have to play around with it and test. I'm sorry I can't be of more help, I simply just don't know. However I will ask that if you do find out what works for you that you could perhaps come back and leave a comment with your fix for anyone else that has the same issue.
Love this patch so I can use KIC and DNB/DNBE together seamlessly! One issueI have is that I'm trying to use the optional patch to remove the KIC soaps from the cookpot, but when I have it enabled, NO soaps from either mod are available in the cookpot.
Tried this on an existing game and a new save. Removing the optional file works as intended with soaps from both mods available to make. Turning on the optional file removes all soaps from the cookpot. Any ideas?
My LO is as follows and I'm on 1170 if it matters KIC DNB DNBE Your Patch Main File Your Patch Optional File
That is very odd as my optional file only touches the KIC esp and in that only the recipes. Did you make sure you have the needed ingredients to make the DNBE soaps? They recipes for DNBE wont show up in the cookpot if you don't have the required ingredients in your inventory. I took this directly from the DNBE mod page: List of Crafting Recipes Added Base mod
I noticed that I cannot add DnBE soaps to the portable washbaskets that KiC provides-- I don't know how difficult patching this would be since I've never done it myself, but would that be something you might be able to handle? If not, would it be possible for you to point me in the right direction so I could learn how? Cheers :)
So I have no idea how to go about doing that but I can definitely look into it for you. I haven't really bothered to use the washbaskets much myself so I didn't know this was an issue. No guarantees on a time frame tho since I don't know exactly where to begin, but like I said I'll give it a shot. Thanks for making me aware.
Sure I guess I can give it a shot, no guarantees on when I can get it out tho. I was thinking of doing it anyway since it seems to be a point of confusion for peoples, I'll try working on it today and see what I can do.
Greetings! I just want to say thank you for this mod even though I'm still trying to understand how it and the main mods work haha.
There's a patch for KiC and DnB meant to work with KiC disabled. I have that. I wanted to use both systems but I couldn't figure out how to wash the KiC dirt off. From the last comment you have, it seems that KiC soaps are in the potions tab? If that's the case they don't work in the inn bathrooms and idk why.
I also want to understand that the soaps in the basket (all misc tab) like Soap, Mountain Flower, etc, are the ones from DnB and only clean DnB + Expanded dirt? So since you use both I'm assuming the only feasible way to use them both is untick start KiC, use only the soaps in the basket and I'll be good right? Side question is what's the point of the power vs the soap? It's all so confusing lol.
I do have the Inns and Taverns soap patch too but that one doesn't seem to work. It's supposed to add soaps to the inventory of innkeeps.
You're welcome and I'm happy to try to explain what I can as best I can for you. So I have also tried to use the KIC & DNB patch but the shader conflicts and double buff/ debuffs were a problem still. The only way I've made the two work together is by NOT using the KIC soaps(found in the potions tab) at all and using ONLY the DNBE soaps(found under the misc tab).
In response to "So since you use both I'm assuming the only feasible way to use them both is untick start KiC, use only the soaps in the basket and I'll be good right? " you would be correct. I have found that KIC does pop on sometimes by itself on a new game for me but just unticking the Start KiC box solves the issue; might just be an issue on my end tho so.. if you don't experience this then don't worry about it.
My patch only removes the KIC soaps from the inn's bathing room's washbaskets and replaces them with DNBE soaps, that's all. If you have a mod that adds soaps to NPC inventories you'll have to check to see if there its adds DNBE soaps or KIC soaps. I don't have any mods like that yet as I'm still trying to figure out how to properly utilize vendor inventories and leveled lists... tho i might just try out CID to distribute them... if i can figure it out I'll be happy to share but no guarantees right now.
Also, as I've mentioned before, I went into the Creation Kit and removed the KIC soap recipes from the cookpot as to keep myself from crafting and using them on accident. If you want more direction on how to do this you can scroll down to my June 8th post and use the link or just ask me nicely and I'll try to guide you when I can.
As for the answer to this question: "Side question is what's the point of the power vs the soap?" using the DNBE soaps will not only clean you completely from the DNB dirtiness but the special ones give you extra buffs.
Example: lavender gives a buff to speech skill and superior mountain flower gives a buff to health, stamina and magic; these are my favs personally... oh and dragon's tongue now cause it reminds me of Kaidan :D
The wash and rinse power will only clean you "mostly" meaning it will set you at level one dirtiness, if i recall correctly, rather than cleaning you completely like the soaps do.
Hope that helps clear somethings up for you, may you walk on warm sands :3
On God thank you for the detailed response! Yes I scrolled through the other posts so I wanted a more clear answer and why I'd need this patch and what they all do as there's not much a guide for how to do it on the respective pages. After some testing last night I did disable KiC and now the texture issue is gone.
I have some KiC soaps in my inventory and I'm not sure how I got them. I may use your fix to remove them entirely but man that's so much work I just wanna play lol. Just one more question I didn't see the answer to. The base Soap is from DnB and has no buffs and the specialty named soaps like the one you mentioned are upgrades? Just want to be clear on that.
Again, thank you! You've cleared up much confusion and I hope it helps some other lost souls coming here for the same reason. I'm still trying to learn the systems too, it's like playing a whole new game haha. Keep up the good work btw, as far as this mod goes it works and I have endorsed it!
"The base Soap is from DnB and has no buffs and the specialty named soaps like the one you mentioned are upgrades? " This is correct, the regular soap from DNB gives no buffs but will clean you complete; specialty soaps are from DNBE and add these buffs as well as clean you completely:
I can't seem to get this patch to work - even with a new save file? I keep getting the "I need water to do that" so I'm not sure if I have to do anything in the MCM.
I have the downgraded version of Skyrim (5.97) and I have loaded the mods in the correct order. Really strange
So my patch only replaces the KIC soaps in the Soap Vendor's container, it does nothing to the actual soap themselves, have you checked your MCM to make sure KIC didnt turn itself on? Are you crafting/using the DNBE soaps or the KIC soaps? Are the plugins loaded in correct order, not just the mods? Do you use MO2 or Vortex btw?
Thank you very much for getting back! I sort of have a hard time reading (learning disability lol) so I apologize if I miss out on anything important :(
When you say the Soap Vendor's container, you mean the little soap basket next to the bath under the inns, correct?
I believe...I might have left KIC running on after I had installed the patch into the game. I remember the dirt-shaders conflicting with each other while D&B and KIC were running together (attempting to wash via basket soap and wash&rinse lol). I turned off KIC, left the baths, waited for 24 hours in game and went back to nexus to see if I was using the wrong soap. I used the soap that's found in the potions category in your inventory after crafting it via cooking pot.
That's when the water error message popped up "I need water to do that"
I use MO2 and have LOOT installed and I run LOOT and sort my plugins each time I use it.
So i can be of more help, is there a font that you find easier to read? I can try using a different font if that helps.
Also I want to mention that my patch does not change the soaps in anyway, it just changes which soaps are in the washbaskets found in the inn's bathrooms.
Anyway, it sounds like you're using the KIC soaps which are found under the potions tab in your inventory. You want to only use the DNBE soaps which are found in the Misc. item tab.
KIC soaps turn on the KIC mod's dirtiness tracker and dirt shaders. (This can be toggled off again in the MCM)
Both can be crafted at the cookpot but the DNBE soaps will only show up at the cookpot if you have all the ingredients needed to craft that soap (Ex. Animal and/or Troll fat depending on your mods and charcoal are the basic ingredients for plain soap.)
If you want to remove the KIC soap crafting recipes from the cookpot, you'll need xEdit or the Creation kit. Let me know if you need more help and I can try to explain it for you or you can look into the link below on my comment from June 8th.
A way to tell quickly what soap you're using is to look for descriptions under the items name in your inventory view. KIC soaps have a description of the buff that the soap applies while the DNBE soaps don't.
I also use MO2 and while LOOT is very useful its not foolproof so i recommend looking in your right hand pane in MO2, where you're plugins are, and verify that LOOT did its job properly.
This is exactly what I needed! However, I do still have all the KIC soap recipes at the cookpot. I looked in Xedit and I don't see anything in your patch that affects these recipes? Thanks!
This patch does not remove or hide the KIC soap recipes from the cookpot. I "hid" the recipes in my own game by changing the workbench keyword of each soap recipe to a new keyword that I created called 'CraftingDisableRecipe'.
Hey I wanted to ask about something. I have some KiC mods that make some vendors sell the soaps. After installing this mod will they stop selling them or would something like this need additional patches?
Hi there, So I only touched the KIC soapvendor container so it shouldnt effect other merchants. I would guess that if you want the DnBE soap sold by other vendors in place of the KIC soaps that would need an additional patch
Hey so I have a few mods that need patches. Do you think you could take a look at them?
1.DanielKelly1978's bathhouse mods. In particular Raven Rock Bathhouse and Falkreath Bathhouse as these ones are ones that are the most compatible with city overhauls in my experience. They have their own KiC patches that add soaps to vendors and baskets: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/51656 https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/71113
3. There are also the KiC patches from JK's Interiors Patch Collection : https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/35910 But I think that they only touch things like navmesh and trapdoors.
Also, I wanted to ask about the official patches from KiC's FOMOD. For example the Realistic Water Two, Falskaar and Bruma patch. Do I still need them if I'm going to use Dirt and Blood for cleaning?
1. I'm willing to look in to DanielKelly1978's bathhouse mods as I was using some of them myself... I'm curious if I can get the the Falkreath bathhouse to work in my set up (using The Great Cities of JK's North) hmm... Anyway I'm willing to give them a shot as I don't think it'll be too difficult. Edit: I'm working on getting permission from Daniel to post the patches I made for the Bathhouses and DnBE; so far I've got Winterhold and Raven Rock done. Now I'm working on Falkreath and maybe I'll do Riften too even though I don't use that one due to incompatibility with JK's Bee and Barb. Should I get permission I'll link them here. However if I did offer to send the files to Daniel so he could post them to his respective mod pages, if that happens I'll let y'all know.
2. I'm going through all my KIC patches and making DnBE compatability patches that go alongside or replace them as needed. I will get to OCoW/ICoW/UCoW soonish. Though if you have the KIC patch it shouldn't hurt anything, just don't use KIC soaps and there wont be any conflicts. Edit: I just released a KIC patch for UCow if anyone is interested, here is the link: Fea's Ultimate College of Winterhold - Keep It Clean Patch
3. I play with quite a few JK's interiors myself. If the vendor washbasket is linked to the vendorsoap container then you will be able to purchase the soaps, no patch needed. In the pictures I'm using JK's Bannered Mare with the KIC patch so it has the lovely bathroom and the vendor washbasket works just fine selling DnBE soaps like as if they were the KIC soaps.
As for those patches like like new lands mods or RW2... I honestly don't know if they're necessary what with DnBE's need water condition detection thing, but I kept my RW2 - KIC patch just incase. I think it makes the water usable by bathing mods thru keywords or something tho I'm not entirely sure as I have not gone into those patches to poke around and I haven't read the mod pages in a hot minute so... I'm really unsure. I currently am not playing with a new lands mods right now as my load order is busting at the seams (and yet still I'm insatiably adding and patching mods lol) so unfortunately I cant really do any testing or patching for them right now.
I hope that's a sufficient explanation. May you walk on warm sands. :3
I looked at this Keep it Clean RW2 patch and it seems that it only adds the "Causes Damage" line to the RW2's waters. According to KiC's description, it needs all the outdoor water to "cause damage" for it to be recognisable as a water source.
In case of KiC I had to patch my load order with the synthesis patch "Water Does Damage". Dunno how it works in case of DnBE. All i could find on its page is that it utilizes PO3's universal water detection.
I'm gonna ask DnBE' author about it too because i'm really unsure about any of this lol
So I got permission from DanielKelly1978 to release my Winterhold, Falkreath and Ravenrock Bathhouse -DnBE patches and I will have them out soon! I'll leave a link here when I've got them uploaded.
So I ran into a bit of a snag with the vendors not selling the soaps, so I can't release them in all good conscience until I figure out how to fix it. Sorry for the delay. I'm working on it tho, just gonna be a bit longer then I thought initially had thought. I'm going to be looking more in on it tomorrow as I'm not scheduled to go to work so hopefully I can get it sorted and released asap for y'all.
Also cause I'm ADHD I'm working on standalone-izing Fea's Solitude Public Bathhouse SSE Patch, which apparently entailed a complete do over to achieve... so yeah again sorry for the delay.
Ah, no problem! Do what you gotta do. I get what you mean because I'm kinda a mod author as well now lol. Making my 2500 plugin LO work forced me a little bit to learn how to use CK so I thought that I might as well put that knowledge to good use and try this modding thing :P.
But yeah, anyway. Take as much time as you need with your patches! Can't rush art.
Thanks for being understanding :) Exactly, my story is similar but my plugins are currently at 925... and counting. :P I literally learned the CK so I could have a proper bathhouse in Solitude. :3 Also kudos on such a heavy LO that's hella impressive. :D
