V 2.3 Released (and 2.4 for Silky Hair Version)!

    What's New?
    ***************

Re-made decoration that shows up in Khajiit hairstyles. I honestly hadn't tested it out when I made it, and just went with something that vaguely resembled vanilla (I actually wasn't sure where that texture even mapped onto). Turns out it maps onto something that looks like a fang, or a piece of polished bone, so I made a custom texture to reflect that.

I also punched up the brass "hammered metal" texture for the rings to a slightly more HD look (about 25% more detail). Also revised the normal map so it's just a tiny bit more fine definition, and less shine. Enjoy!

    Silky Version Released!

    *****
    - A lighter, less defined variant is now available. It looks slightly more silky and rough, and you'll have an easier time at getting to ultra-blonde tones. The downsides is that the lack of definition shows the limitations of vanilla mesh. I had this version on hand, and thought someone might like it.

It comes with standard brown fabric. Use Gimp/photoshop to copy paste the fabric color of your choice onto the silky variant.

    V 2.2 released.

This is a pretty small update, but maybe someone will enjoy it. I wasn't quite happy with the braid, so I re-made it from scratch. Each interlocked hair is about half the size, which matches the vanilla style a bit better.

I also made a new normal map to enhance the fine details, and also reduced the shine with about 1/3. I have already uploaded an ultra matte normal map as an optional file for ENB users (one ENB user told me it's a frequent problem with hair being overly shiny), but hopefully the default download will now work a bit better across the board.

Ok I'm just confused by the different color options, does each color version apply to just that hair color or can I just download one of them and have it replace everybody's hair textures regardless of what color their hair is?

The colors in the file names refer to the color of the accessories in the hair (the hair ties). The retexture will apply to all vanilla and vanilla-based hairstyles.

Thanks so much for this! Makes all the difference in the world. Maybe someday I'll have the patience to go through the work it takes to install a full hair replacer, but for now I'll stick with these textures and not worry about dealing with facegen shenanigans.

The title says is a replacer but it sounds more like a retex. Which is it? Vanilla hair replacers require a bazillion patches. I'm hoping this is a retex that i can use right out of the box without it messing up facegens.

I'm stupid and confused by all the options.

I'm looking for a hair mod that makes the vanilla hair look less s#*! without turning the game into a L'Oreal commercial. Will this do that and if so which version do I need?

L'Oreal commercial, funny stuff. I know what you mean though. So many of the hair mods are very immersion breaking.

Would this work on characters added by mods such as Immersive NPCs or the like?

I really do need to replace the hair for the people in the game, it looks horrible.

I'm a little confused, if I just want the slighty shaggy look but no extra colours etc what would you advise me to get?
I really don't want all the vanilla haired NPC's to have the same new hair colour...

      Hi!

The different color variants only apply to a few hairstyles - primarily ponytail styles, that tie up the hair with a piece of fabric or leather. The color variants only apply to that hairband.

The different color variants was probably a bit of "over-kill" in terms of detail, on my part. You'd only notice it if you looked at the back of the head of orcs, elves and women in the game.

It doesn't really have anything to do with the color of the hair.

Go with the main file, and you'll be set.

Would it be possible to have Vanilla vs Modded preview pictures?
