This time I added the wanted ESL versions and the skse plugin has been remade from scratch and should now offer compatibility for SE 1.5.X and AE 1.6.X
Please note, if you switch to ESL, make sure you load a save file, where the mod was not installed before.
Is there a way to have this mod distinguish between charged and channeled spells? The behavior I would like is to switch to first person while charging a spell like Firebolt, but NOT to switch when channeling a spell like Flames. (Charged spells have a fixed magicka cost; channeled spells have a cost per second.)
It'd be awesome if you could also add filtering based on spell range. Melee-range spells such as Apocalypse's Thundercrack don't need a first person shift.
(Or, consider adding support for a spell blacklist and then players can add whatever spells that they don't want triggering a FP switch.)
+1. This is an amazing mod (no complaints), but agree this would be a nice feature extension (though I'm not sure how hard it would be to do). Those spells the poster mentions can be directed in TP almost like you could swing a sword--you don't need the bow-like precision. Thanks again to the mod author for an amazing mod!
This mod is awesome! Wish I'd found it when it came out. If you're thinking of installing it, this is the use case: if you're a person who is who generally likes third person (for battle field tactics, esp with multiple enemies and followers, and also if you like to enjoy the visuals of whatever latest armor mod you're trying), but is more comfortable aiming in first person. I used to manually click into first person for bows/ranged magic, and then just stay there because it's annoying to click back and forth. I use the mod scoped bows so I can turn off my bow crosshair, and this mod and scoped bows go well together. This mod is permanently in my load order. It's one of these smart, high-impact game play mods that really show how amazing the modding community and how much mods can improve the player experience. Thanks!
For anyone enjoying this concept and installed this mod, but found out the melee option can not be turned on: I think @zzyxzz had a minor error in the MCM config file. Go to Third Person First Person Aiming - ESL\MCM\Config\ThirdPersonFirstPersonAiming and open the config.json, there is a "ThirdPersonFirstPersonAiming.esp" where all the others are *.esl. Change that one to ".esl" and issue solved.
Is it possible that something is blocking this from working? What kinds of mods would those be? It is installed and I have an MCM but I'm not getting the switch.
Here is a suggestion: Add an option to disable the switch to first person aiming when using True Directional Movement and having a target focused with auto lock. Being able to transition to first person outside of combat for easy snipes sounds great, but when being in combat with a target locked on, I would not want to switch into first person view.
Another argument for that is that the switch back and forth when drawing bow can mess up the animation and lock the bow. which is not a problem when sniping, but can cost a fight.
