This is amazing! I have tried several known menu replacers, this is the best one for me. I personally enhanced it a lil bit by replacing the music with Nerevar Rising Remake from Skywind project but currently im using a different version of Dragonborn. Personally, this combo really set up the mood to walk for authentic Skyrim adventure.
Yes and no. Sorry, this is going to get a bit technical.
The Precise Main Menu Wallpaper Mesh I'm using does allow for both 16:9 and 21:9 textures. However, the template requires images of a certain size. For 16:9, it requires 3144x1769; for 21:9, it requires 4096x1769.
The background image I use is smaller than that: the source wallpaper is 2560x1400. That image can be easily resized it to 3144x1769 without further editing. However, to convert it to 21:9, you have to drastically increase its size and then manually edit the top and the bottom of the image to make it fit the required height.
I don't use a 21:9 monitor, so I have no idea whether the final product would look good -- whether the image would feel imbalanced with so much removed, or whether it'd look pixelated on any HD monitor after being increased in size by 60%. However, I took a few minutes to do a mock-up of a 21:9 background, which I just uploaded to the 'Files' tab. Would you (or anyone else reading this with a 21:9 monitor) be willing to try it out and take a screenshot to post here?
It doesn't work because I am in AE 1.6.640 and I have nothing on the screen. The structure with AE is different, this mod works, except that the image is distorted and not centered with a bad resolution and I prefer your image to this one.
Did you download version 1.1? AE requires that the main menu mesh be named logo01ae.nif rather than logo.nif, so I added a hotfix to get my mod to work on AE. (If it's not working, let me know!)
EDIT: to clarify, you would need the mesh from the main mod, and the texture from the 21x9 replacer file. If the 21x9 option works out I'll make sure to repackage it with the mesh included, but for now you can just enable both and let it override the 16x9 version in your mod manager.
Okay, the image you just posted is the menu texture from the main mod, the one intended for 16x9. You need to download the TEST - 21x9 Main Menu Replacer optional file and use that texture instead.
If you're using a mod manager like MO2, keep the main mod enabled and just put the 21x9 version to load after it so the 21x9 texture overrides the first one. Then start the game and take a screenshot.
I made a screenshot with Main Menu Design Replacer so that you can illustrate your page correctly. However, nobody seems to be able to center the menu in 21/9th despite the information given on the mod page.
Thank you for giving a try, but yeah, as far as I can tell the 'Main Menu Design Replacer' doesn't have a functioning 21x9 version, so I'm not sure there's a point in putting up such a lopsided image as an example on my page. If you ever are able to get it to work for 21x9 screens, let me know, but you should definitely release it as a self-standing mod; I imagine there'd be quite a bit of demand for it. Thanks again for helping make sure the ultrawide version works; I appreciate your help
The logo.nif file is what identifies the mainmenuwallpaper.dds as the texture to use, so it should work. However, I had a sudden thought: I use Skyrim SE, and it's possible the AE update changed the mesh used for the main menu. I'll need to check this; thanks for letting me know!
EDIT: confirmed, and it's a simple fix. I need to make an identical copy of the logo.nif and rename it logo01ae.nif -- I'll upload the fix momentarily. EDIT: AE-compatible mesh is now included. For the life of me, I can't figure out why Bethesda would decide to change the filename for that single mesh, but at least the problem is fixed now.
