    RASR now works in VR! Here are the instructions:
    1. Download and activate the main 'Random Alternate Start Reborn SE.esp' (Do not install the 'Temporary VR Fix yet)
    2. Set 'bLoadVRPlayroom=0' in skyrimvr.ini manually or using Bilago's VR Configuration Tool. This will temporarily disable physical sneaking.
    3. Start a New Game. After spawning into the world, save your game, exit.
    4. Set 'bLoadVRPlayroom=1' in skyrimvr.ini manually or using Bilago's VR Configuration Tool. This will restore physical sneaking.
    5. Install 'Temporary VR Fix' and let it overwrite the scripts from the main file.

    Alternatively after step 3, you can keep the VR playroom disabled and use Shizof's Auto Sneak and Jump VR mod? which allows you to physically crouch to sneak without enabling VR Playroom.

    I'm having an issue where the text is missing during the loading screen. It still has all the kits, but if I click on one of them, the text box with the description of the kit is empty. The accept/cancel buttons are still there, but then when I accept, there is no text explaining the wait feature. I can still click wait/cancel and get into the game, so it's not a huge issue really, but anyone encountered this and know a fix?

      This seems to be related to the number of ESPs I'm loading. After I used zMerge to combine my texture replacers and NPC overhauls, the text returned. If I unmerge the plugins again, the text disappears.

    Does this work with Arthmoor's AS:LAL?

      It wouldn't make sense for it to. The two are at cross purposes. LAL is so you can deliberately pick where you start, RASR is to randomly start somewhere.

    Not sure where to ask this, but I have a bit of a request.

    Is there any way already existing, or can be added as a feature to the mod, to trigger the "Alternate start location warp" script after the character is out in the world?

    Reason I am hoping to do this is that I am in a rogue-like playthrough setup using "Death Alternative: Reincarnation" as one of my core mods, and I'd like my "new" characters to also be warped randomly in the world upon becoming them.
    I tried COCing to the RASR starting room, but that doesn't cause the starting scripts to fire.

    TL;DR hoping for a feature/howto to use mid-game to warp the player character to one of the RASR start locations.

      I would actually like to have that feature, but unfortunately, I have stopped modding. If someone else would like to take up this request, please feel free to do so as the source code is included in the download.

      Thanks. I may attempt to do so. My plan is to add a spell that will trigger the teleportation script of the character to one of your random start locations. Which script of yours does the actual teleportation?

      I'm hoping to just make a simple spell that fires the script and nothing more.

      Unfortunately, you can't just fire the entire script. If I remember correctly the script contains all the menu choices for starting kits; it then sets the proper quest stages and disables certain references in order to make an alternative start possible; then finally it takes a list of starting locations, chooses a random location, chooses a random hour of day, then spawns you at that location.

      You'll need to create a new script that only does the random spawning and than attach the new script to your new spell.

    The mod is at the bottom of my load order, the moment jarl of whiterun says ; so you were at helgen..... well its a freeze stuck
    Any kind of mod i need to look for in my list ?

    My CTD happens every time I try to load a newly created game using RASR, my character is done and spawned, I killed the spawn area ennemies, once and every time everything got killed and that the music got back to "peace" stage I create a NEW save ( no not a quick one ) , weither I try to load this new one, or the one created right after spawning ( auto save ), even just trying to load my save I legit just created a second ago, while in game and have not moved, CTD.
    For the sake of VR itself, im using HavokFix64, and I really hope this is not the issue.
    I just did what your main page says, to put the plugins forced into the lowest load order ( being 115 the last for me ), using the VR temporary fix + noroom + auto jump mod, it still crash every time i try to load a new save
    I really hope I can work this out, this is one big lacking part of my skyrim experience, missing these alternate start mod.... to me this is a Big deal

      Hi michaellg, if you suspect HavokFix64 is causing the issue, have you tried disabling it?

      EDIT: I just took a look at HavokFix64 and it is a SKSE dll meaning it isn't compatible with SkyrimVR. Using an incorrect dll version can cause CTDs. The author would need to compile a separate dll specifically for SKSEVR. Please keep that in mind for all .dll mods, not just HavokFix64.

      Thanks for the quick reply, I just looked at the comments, I see that HAVOKFIX64 wasnt updated for VR skse, definitly could be the cause, my Spellsiphon wasnt working well either.... definitly might be, sorry

      I just tried, with and without the VR Temporary fix, it still crashed without havokfix64
      to be more precise, every single time, it crash not a second later i confirm loading the choosen save

      Using mod organizer 2 , I just disabled EVERY mods to see, and it was obviously some mods, im gonna do the classic troubleshoot ( try one or few and see ) and will make sure to report back for others in future ! :)

      Take this with a grain of salt, but because you were playing the game with the incorrect .dll file you may have corrupted your save. In other words, to properly troubleshoot you would need to load a save before you started using HavokFix64 or start a new game :|

      Yep, thats what im doing, and to be honest, I just started using this havokfix64 because i was modding my SSE few days ago :)
      The only way i see properly testing this mod, is starting new games each times, incidently trigguering this mod "'only fonction"

    Do we have to do the VR workaround every time we start a new game? Or is it a one and done thing and we can start as many new games as we want?
    Also, what exactly does does it fix?

      Hello Cryoflair :)

      The VR workaround is only necessary if you want to play with the VR playroom enabled (I recommend you do because it allows for physical sneaking). BUT make sure you only activate the workaround AFTER you start a new game. If you don't care about the VR playroom you don't need to use the workaround.

      It is a one and done thing for *each playthrough*. That means if you start a new game, you need to follow the steps again.

    Just curious if anyone else has had this happen, start a new game make character appearance, then get stuck in a looping menu for twenty minutes selecting starting gear and MCM wait time.
    Did I maybe install wrong by using Vortex to handle the installation?

      Does that happen all the time or only once? It may be the double menu bug that you're encountering (it happens with other mods as well). You can also try these steps from the mod page:

      - If you experience crashing, hanged loading screens, continuous loading, or broken dialog for the Whiterun Gate Guard or Jarl Balgruuf you need to move the "Random Alternate Start Reborn SE.esp" to the bottom of your load order.
      - Memory intensive hair mods can cause crashes at character generation.
      - Mods that alter the game's time scale may cause the "double menu bug". To prevent this, disable any time scale mods when starting a new game then re-enable them after your character has spawned into the world.

    please syclonix, set wait to setup MCM option before creating caracter not after becase we have hundreds of mods and we want to set this mods, we make a save file and then make our caracter again and again with this settings already to go.. thanks for this great mod !!!

      Sorry fall3night, RASR is not currently under active development. I haven't seriously modded in 8 years and I am frankly out of touch with the scripting language. If anyone else wants to give it a shot, I'll happily upload it to the mod page.

    Hi! RASR came highly recommended to me by the author of Skyrim Renewed over on Bethesda.net. I've given it a go and am loving it so far, especially the ability to randomize my character without having to put hours into character creation. Thanks for all your hard work making it. :)

    I've had a little bug though, but I've curiously had it with all different kinds of mod lists, including ones without any of the mods I have now (only a few right now). But I wanted to ask anyway, in case you'd seen it before. When I started using RASR, my in inventory books started glitching a bit. When I go to read one, instead of the normal opening animation, it turns and flies through the camera, but it ends up in the normal position after that and is perfectly readable. It doesn't bother me, but I wanted to be sure it isn't a warning of something serious going on before I really invest in a character. I'm really only asking here because it happened to start when I installed RASR, even though I've had it before with completely different mods.

      RASR is quite lightweight and doesn't modify any books or animations. Do you have any mods active that effect books or animations? Deactivate those first to see if they solve the issue; if it does try reinstalling those mods and check the descriptions for load order recommendations.
