Punctual for winter my first snowy adaption for ENB's new Complex Terrain Parallax feature Don't forget to activate it in your enbseries.ini or to install Vanilla POM instead ;)
If you use ENB, EnableComplexParallax=true EnableComplexParallaxShadows=true EnableComplexTerrainParallax=true EnableComplexTerrainParallaxShadows=true in your enbseries.ini
I've been using the vivid landscapes mod as well as other mods and overall it looks great! but sometimes there'll be weird shaped textures like this →https://i.imgur.com/uTXfD35.jpeg that i assume is due to some parallax related issue its not really that big of a deal since i play mostly on 3rd person and can turn a blind eye to that....kinda.... but if anyone has any suggestion on fixing it without completely disabling parallax would greatly appreciated!
worked once but following a mod problem that had nothing to do with the landscape I deactivated all the mods then reactivated the same ones except the one that was the problem the snow no longer worked it's strange and I wasn't using Terrain Parallax Blending Fix. besides I still don't use it and it still doesn't work so TPBF isn't the cause.I would say that the mod works when it feels like it, the tip mentioned below to create a Parallax file at the root in landscape does not work for me too too bad because yes it worked for a while and I would say that it is the most beautiful snow mod but now does not work and I do not know why.
idk why this happens to me now it doesn't look how it's supposed to. i have parallax.
edit: down in the comments someone said the parallax is not working when having tomato's landscape and Terrain Parallax Blending Fix and that it needed a patch
It's Terrain Parallax Blending Fix that does that, I actually stopped using THAT mod.. it causes that with all parallax textures not made to be compat with it..
I use Fantasia Parallax instead because it doesn't directly require TPBF.
I think TPBF messed my northern roads parallax up too if i remember correctly, so.. the author explains it on the mod page of TPBF.
I believe why this fails with newer complex textures is because the new solution is terrain helper which allows for heightmaps where terrain blender uses alpha maps for heightmaps, which is costly. This I believe is using alpha maps for heightmaps, but if terrain helper detects an actually heightmap from another mod, it might be misinterpreting this one. I think someone just needs to do a patch for this one by taking out the alpha and making it into a heightmap.
TLDR: this works but conflicts with some newer texture mods that have complex shader capability.
*Edit* Yup, deleted the snow textures from tomato, specifically the _p.dds and the alta.dds were probably causing the isue with PB gen or something.
Just tried this mod as well, same issue. I don't use Terrain Parallax Blending fix as I'm not bothering with any other Parallax textures, I'm only using the regular Terrain Blending Fix for ENB, and Better Dynamic Snow v3.6. Guess I'm going back to Fluffy Snow.
So you're saying this mod makes use of Complex Parallax, not regular Terrain Parallax. Which means this mod is basically standalone? I install this, enable Complex Parallax in ENB, and my snow becomes Parallaxed while the rest of my Landscape remains the same? No spiky deformations?
do you know why mountains are looking like this? they almost look invisible. I installed the textures you said to use with the snow occlusion, but I see this:
Anyone know if the mod author as all but given up on this great mod? The problem I'm running into is that I have this mod in the 4k and the matching 4k blended roads patch, but when I go just outside Windhelm, the snows don't match up and it looks worst then vanilla. The rocks that makeup the road are bright white and the snow around them are a very, very light grey almost white but not near as white as the snowed covered rocks. I just can't figure out what's wrong....... I'm stuck in the..........snow yuk, yuk, yuk lol. no pun intended...........OK lies. Pun intended. :-) Any help here would be awesome.
This is easily my favorite parallax snow texture. Thanks for the great work! Would there be any chance to include non-parallax textures to use Terrain Parallax Blending Fix?
Hi guys, I found a workaround the issue (in MO2, but should work the same in vortex).
Go to the mod folder /Vivid Landscapes - Complex Parallax Occlusion Snow/textures/landscape Create a folder Parallax inside the landscape folder and copy all textures in the parallax folder.
Then it will work. It may not be the perfect solution, but it allows to use this mod with terrain parallax blending fix
EDIT: Initially I thought this didn't work, but it was my mistake. The method does indeed work. My mistake was MOVING the textures from the landscape folder into the newly created parallax folder instead of copying them. So the textures need to exist in both the normal landscape folder and the newly created parallax folder. Thanks for the fix!

For those wanting to use Terrain Parallax Blending Fix, you can "patch" this mod to work.
Just create a Parallax folder inside the landscape folder of the mod (Vivid Landscapes - Complex Parallax Occlusion Snow/textures/landscape) and copy all the textures to the parallax folder. This fixes the issue.
