About this mod
Ever thought that the Dragonborn DLC's rewards were too scaled back? Hate dealing with Draugr using those DragonFire replacers to roast you? Let's use a little forbidden knowledge to bring our Dragonborns up to speed with our flying kin.

From even vanilla Skyrim, I always envied how dragons had the stream of fire and frost as their breath attacks and how we Dovahkiin had to settle for less stellar options for what was probably my most anticipated feature of the game. Naturally, one of the first mods I installed after buying Skyrim on Steam was the original DragonFire mod, and it remained even through the transition to SE with DragonFire - Reborn.
One thing both of those mods did not do, however, was keep higher level Draugr from wiping me out with those same shouts! That, and also give me a reason to use the endgame Black Books for more than just QOL or almost inconsequential buffs. And, after posting about the original idea on a Reddit post (now over 2 years ago as of the posting of this), I finally got around to it.
The DragonFire shout is granted with Dragonborn Flame, and the DragonFrost shout with Dragonborn Frost. Since both are quest rewards found ~late game for most players over in Solstheim, I figured that this would be a much better prize (and also a real reason to go back to change your shout) for the adventurous and enterprising. More features are planned but no ETA on those.
In-Game Requirements: - Have learned at least the first word of both Fire Breath and Frost Breath (I'm willing to create a version without this if you seriously want to be a mono-elemental dragon but as for now, just deal)
- Have fully mastered all 3 words of the shout you wish to replace (Failure to do so will give you a message about how your breath isn't hot or cold enough for the true dragon shout, respectively)
- Reached the end of Black Book: Epistolary Acumen (Just in case you didn't know where to get Dragonborn Flame/Frost)
While I won't invite myself to any debates about lore-friendliness, I wanted this to be as compatible with the given world presented in game while also providing some balance. Also, it makes sense that locked in a forbidden tome that only the truly powerful can traverse would be the secret to breathing with your full might.
Requirements:
Version 1.3 and beyond will require SKSE. Luckily, this is independent of AE or SE. I personally use a downgraded game with 1.5.97 and SKSE 2.0.20 but all versions should contain the scripts necessary for my mod to work.
Compatibility:
Should work out the box with most things, but anything that makes changes to Dragon Aspect or the vanilla shouts may cause unintended behavior. It won't prevent the mod itself from working most likely but it may look a bit weird.
Patches provided already for Thunderchild & More Draconic Dragon Aspect. Working on a patch for Adamant.
Anything that overhauls the Black Books might cause unintended behavior, but if they leave the rewards alone it shouldn't affect too much.
You might want to consider Word Walls Relocated - Special Edition if you don't want to entertain the Companions questline for the last word of Fire Breath.
Installation:
Install w/ mod manager, sort it pretty much anywhere after Dragonborn. This can be loaded before any other shout overhauls (as long as they don't remove Fire or Frost Breath) to overwrite changes.
If you're one of those meticulous people who manually install, it's extract to %steam%/steamapps/common/Skyrim (Special Edition)/Data folder for you.
Uninstallation:
Use console commands to take away my mods shouts and give you back the vanilla ones.
player.removeshout xx00C324
player.removeshout xx00F1EE
player.addshout 3F9EA
player.addshout 5D16B
Just to be safe, use ReSaver after getting the effects off you.
After that, you can untick/remove the mod in MO2, uninstall it from Vortex, or remove the .esp file as well as any scripts/source with the prefix "KYW_" from your game.
Version History:
1.2 - Added FOMOD installer, includes patches for Thunderchild and
1.1 - added voices to shouts, players should now properly use both Yol-Toor-Shul and Fo-Krah-Diin. added Dragon Aspect armor effect to second and third words of shouts
1.0 - Mod release
Future Plans:
Add MCM menu
Add shouts to Miraak
Add shouts to high level draugr
Update MDA patch and create more consistency patches for popular shout overhauls
Create a suitable replacement for Unrelenting Force
Add shouts to Dragon Aspect (w/ a patch for More Draconic Dragon Aspect)
