Brief update here on status of the mod, I've gone thru the CK and verified the script is added to each of the listed actors for version 1.31.  In game, I have tested about two-thirds so far with no issues. Some enemies were removed from the list because they were not unique; the Ebony Warrior is now worth 3 perk points to compensate. I'm leaving the ESP version up in the old files, it's functional but not 100% accurate.

To add the script to an actor that is being overwritten by another mod, edit that mod in the CK and add the script "PerkPointOnDeath" to the actor (there are no properties, just add and click ok). Script's a loose file so can be done easily.

If I install this mid-game, will I get the points for guys I’ve already killed?

Just so people know, there is a bug when using Apocalypse spells. There is a certain Illusion spell that creates a "ghost copy" of the enemy you are fighting that attacks them. When casting this on for example dragon priests, you get a perk point every time the copy disappears.

is this mod compatible with skyrim version 1.5.97?
I have seen that it is created in 1.6 but I don't know if it would work well in previous ones

It should work fine, it's an old mod that I updated when I started playing again. If you have issues, I think I left an earlier version in files too.

    This is really clever, thanks.

I was disappointed that Nazeem didn't have any points associated though. Lol. Probably should have given a 10-pt script and said nothing about it.

How do we go about patching other mods to also provide perk points? Such as Beyond Reach, Beyond Skyrim Bruma, Wyrmstooth, Midwood Isle, etc.? Do I just add the script to their bosses?

Yes, there aren't any properties to worry about. The script you'll want to add is "PerkPointOnDeath.pex". The only thing to be aware of is if you are adding to a unique or at least very rare enemy.

This is safe to turn into an ESPFE (ESL) all you have to do is flag it in xEdit. You dont even have to compact form IDs

I'd suggest forwarding over the USSEP changes, i.e. Ulfric never dissapearing after completing the civil war quest for Imperials is reintroduced by using this mod. Quick and easy to do with xEdit. Otherwise great mod, been using it a while. Way more balanced than multiple perk per level mods.

I'm not new to modding but im new(ish) to using xEdit outside of cleaning my files and removing certain NPCs from NPC overhaul mods. How do we forward over changes to one mod from another?

I just got this mod for the first time and i finished the gauldur legend quest and after killing the last unique draugr i didn't get a perk point so i don't know if your mod actually works for me. Is there any way to easily check ? Mikrul Gauldurson is the boss in question.
I installed the mod trough Vortex,is there anything else i needed to do ?

Sorry for the late response, I'm not on here much anymore. I don't believe I added him, but now that you mentioned it I realize I should have.

If you go to the docs tab you can see the list of all award targets. That said, if any of these enemies are overwritten by other mods later in load order, you will not receive the perk point(s) for them. This can often be corrected with a bashed patch.

Also, in case any modders are interested and glancing here, anyone is free to pick this up, full permissions granted. The three scripts are not even bound up in a BSA, and I included uncompiled forms as well. There have been a lot of good suggestions for re-structuring this mod using quest aliases etc. Please have at it, port it to xbox, whatever.

If I wanted to make a patch for various quest mods, would I be able to do that easily in xEdit? I see the PerkPointOnDeath scripts added to NPC's in xEdit, is all I would have to do is add this script to the NPC from a quest mod and it would grant me the perk points on their death?

Thank you, this mod is fantastic and I've been looking for something like this.

I've never used xedit, but that sounds right. Just be aware that it's not always so simple. Few cases (mainly during scripted events) where an enemy actually has several distinct character entries and you can end up getting multiple awards if you add to each or none at all if you add to only the wrong one.
