So for some reason if you decide to kill Kematu and his crew and aid Saadia the two initial Alik'r who appear in Whiterun to initiate the quest...appear again and do nothing.

Huh, checking SSEEdit it doesn't seem like it removes the CC quest, could it be possible that you forgot ? Thanks

Rather than adjusting the quest, I just removed the NPCs that can begin the quest from spawning.

Hey man, great mod! However, there is a conflicting script with The Choice Is Yours. Is this mod ideal to come before or after?

Resolving that conflict would require a merged script, so to speak. I can look into it in the future

Would it be possible to change the mod from hard editing all the Alikir to instead simply add the armor and weapons to Kematu only, and also remove the the quest edit adding in the recipe unlock?

That way the mod is compatible with both any mods editing the quest, and also still allows the normal Alikir to spawn in with armors and weapons added by other mods (immersive armor/weapons etc).

It would also serve to make the Redguard Elite Armor "Unique", as denoting kematus status as the leader.

In my load order, this mod didn't disable the quest but it did distribute the gear. Any idea why? I prefer it that way, but I'm curious if I can identify the cause. Maybe you can't say without seeing my LO.

It's the same for me. Not a huge deal, but enough to make me go "huh!"

Without knowing your exact load order I couldn't say for sure. It's likely a conflict from any other CC adjustment mod. But if you're preferring this way, then it sounds all good

I just want to be certain. This is incompatible with the plugin from Creation Club - Adjustments Rebalancing and Variants, correct? I was hoping to use both. I like the NPC changes this offers but also the item attribute changes the other one provides.

They are almost entirely compatible. This mod does not adjust the armor or weapon stats, but it does change crafting recipes to no longer require completion of the CC quest. So as long as you load this mod after my Adjustments mod, they're perfectly compatible.

  7. Why give it to Kematu and his lot tho?
They are unclear in who their employers are with likely both them and Saadia being on the Thalmor payroll.

Saadia's story is nonsense. If she's innocent there'd be no reason to flee Hammerfell. The Thalmor lost the war there and were forced to withdraw and sign a separate treaty with the Redguards. Only people who collaborated *with* the Thalmor against Hammerfell would feel the need to flee and hide. Anyone working against them would be praised as a hero. Also, Kematu states his intention to bring her back to Hammerfell for justice and becomes upset if you kill her. OTOH, she very much wants you to kill him and his for her.
    2. While that point stands a band of mercenaries taking shelter among brigands evokes absolutely zero trust from me.
Knowing full well that the neutral city of Whiterun and Stormcloack controlled territories wouldn't mind her silently disappear, their approach to infiltrate Whiterun instead of openly entering is another point of suspicion.
Moreover if you finish the quest either way the Thalmor send their executioner squads after your character.
If however you kill them both then no Thalmor squad is sent your way.
Saadia's ashes turn up in the hall of Arkay of Whiterun a few days after the quest in favor of Kematu so it's certain she isn't dragged to Hammerfell to await fair trial.

As it stands the most reasonable conclusion is that she is a former Thalmor asset that went rogue and they hired Kematu to end that liability.

There is a possibility that Saadia is not actually a Thalmor agent at all, here is a theory, who claims that the Dominion is involved in all this as far as people know Kematu, Saadia claims the Thalmor sent them but she could just be guessing that was the reason or that the Dominion has some involvement when there could be other culprits at play. It's a known fact that in Hammerfell there is a longstanding rivalry between the Crowns and the Forebears, the Dominion invasion did not end that rivalry, after they were driven out Hammerfell returned to the politics as usual, now these squabbles have been known to be VERY bloody, with street battles and assassinations being a common occurance between the two factions.
Here is my proposal that Kematu and his goons were hired assassins not by the Dominion but by the government of Hammerfell, either by the Crowns or Forebears either of which could be used by the Thalmor as an asset like Ulfric and the Stormcloaks, an indirect tool for inflicting division. Also we have to remember that Kematu and his goons are mercenaries first and foremost they don't care about where the money is coming from and their loyalty is to money first and foremost. My theory is that Saadia is a member of a house that stood out of line with either one of the two houses or sided with the Dominion and she is one of the few survivors said house that itself was purged by either of the dominions and rather than be a direct asset likely she is the child of a direct asset, because Saadia's age just doesn't line up with Kematu's claim from a timeline standpoint, she's way too young in her mid-to-late twenties, she'd have been a child during the fall of the city and thus while her relative potentially one of her parents betrayed the city Saadia is just someone having to deal with the baggage of other people.
Also while both Saadia and Kematu are obviously lying, Saadia's lies are born more of desperation then actual malice, also consider her position if she was a Thalmor Agent why is she hiding in Whiterun instead of the Thalmor Embassy or Solutide which is near said embassy, its just as likely the Dominion wants her dead as much her own countrymen. Kematu is a liar who is trying to get you to betray your employer and he does it mainly to avoid having to do the dirty work he can't do, its a case of him trying to use you for his own ends and on top it he tries to guilt trip you into doing it and claims your reasons for going after him don't matter. There is also the fact that he happens to be hiding in a cave with bandits which is not a good look especially when he could just as easily be in Rorikstead with the two goons he has out and about asking for information. Also consider the fact that one of his own men is willing to betray him for a 100 septims its clear to me that his crew are mercenaries first and foremost.
Then you have the fact that he won't pay you if you kill Saadia which by the way I think its plain to me that he could not care if she makes it back to Hammerfell alive or dead as the urn contradicts her being still alive. But the main reason I'll side with Saadia over Kematu everytime apart from him being a guilt-trip character (The type of character in video games I hate the most) is because he and his men are at best vigilantes and at worst assassins hired by somebody to kill Saadia, but in cases here they are the only ones to broken laws in Skyrim, Saadia is living in Skyrim as a law-abiding citizen, Kematu and his goons actively flout the law and even has one of his soldiers imprisoned for breaking it, essentially they are little better then bandits, they are in a similar boat to the Silver-Hand, sure the Silver-Hand hunt werewolves but they are still bandits who will try to rob and kill normal people, essentially they are murderers and cuthroats with a masquarade of nobilty I don't trust them one bit and considering that. Also I am of opinion that again they could easily be assassins in stolen A'likr. As to why whoever wants her dead would hire Redguard Asassins, well its because they'd at least have a shot at getting inside Skyrim's cities, Khajiits are already not allowed to enter the cities they have to park their merchants outside, Elves are treated with disdain by Nords and well good look trying to get an Elven agent near her without arousing a LOT of suspicion. Redguards by contrast are humans, foriegners sure but humans which makes them less likely to arouse prejudice beyond the fact that you are a foreigner. Ironically whoever hired Kematu was going about this all wrong from the get go, if whoever wants Saadia dead (Because death is the ultimate fate for her if you side with Kematu, whether its in Skyrim or in Hammerfell) wants her gone so badly they can easily fork up the 750 septims to hire the Dark Brotherhood to get the job done; I mean I swear its like these people forget the Brotherhood is still in existence and operating in Skyrim, they may be understrengthed but that doesn't mean the DB wouldn't have any trouble either killing Saadia or kidnapping her and taking her back to Hammerfell.
In any case Kematu and his goons are killers, while you only have Kematu's word that Saadia is who he claims she is. In any case at the end of the day Kematu and his men are the only ones we can be sure are hired killers its in their profession they are also the only ones breaking any laws here, its not exactly against the law in Skyrim to move there and live under an alias looking for a new life away from trouble I'm even certain she has Imperial citizenship and likely is protected against extradition by the Imperial government, by all means she is abiding by Imperial law and even reports lawbreaking, Kematu and his men are certainly breaking the law they are engaged in a plot to kidnap someone which I'm fairly certain is a crime under Imperial Law and really among any sane governments laws, its a state sanctioned abduction little better then what China will do to Chinese citizens whom flee from that nightmarish regime and publically criticize it, its a stray dogs policy. Now do I believe Kematu's story about Saadia being a Thalmor Informant that brought down a major city, no simply because the timeline doesn't line up with her age, far more likely another member of house Suda did that thing and the response by the government is to wipe out the entire family regardless of whether or not they actually supported the move OR she is refugee escaping from either the Crowns or the Forebears who would want her dead and that the whole Thalmor thing is a cover story invented by Kematu, perhaps he even claimed he was a Thalmor assassin when the two previously encountered each other and Saadia thinks he is working for the Dominion. Any case Saadia may have a questionable alibi BUT her age is enough of an alibi to have kept her from being an informant during the great war, she'd have been a young child. Kematu on the other hand has WAY too many sketchy elements to his character and the fact that he uses illegal tactics to try to bring her back to Hammerfell tells me that the man is way more untrustworthy then Saadia. As to why he'll complain if you kill her its not because he wants to bring her back to Hammerfell alive its because he wants to be paid for either capturing or killing her, you rob him of his pay day if you kill Saadia and thus he'll not pay up because you've prevented him from collecting.
Also I wish there was an option to report Kematu and his goons to the city guard, they are breaking laws in Whiterun Hold and there should have been an option to turn him and his goons over to them, expose their location and tell Commander Caius to investigate their hideout and lock them up. Suffice to say Kematu has a LOT more things that I hate about him and the fact that I have mods that give him unique gear that can only be obtained by killing him is enough for me to kill the snake and his goons with about as much ease as killing the bandits that attacked me on arrival

Awesome idea for a CC integration mod!
I do have to ask, is there any way to make this not only add the items to Kematu's crew but to also still retain the CC quest? That way siding with Kematu doesn't negate the stealthy elimination of Thalmor?

You simply have to assign Kematu a outfit based on new equipment. If you do this, however, I strongly recommend to give Kematu an unenchanted version of the outfit.

Lol!... That's Bethesda new "Redguard" elite armor? Ok... I suppose the Reguards "looks" (a bit) like Arabs, but this armor looks like... Persian "Immortals" from 5th century bC!
