Thank you, I've felt the same way. The pantheon in Skyrim really just changed to the divines + Shor when, even until Oblivion, it was said that the Nords worshiped a lot of totem creatures as well. It was very interesting until they were turned almost into a carbon copy of Cyrodiil because Bethesda ram the divines down our throat and didn't want to do something different.

@ thebluesential Yes then you need to look at the Aldmeri Pantheon to see the names of the Gods.

Because they differ again. As do all the main races of The Elder Scrolls.

The Imperial Pantheon should only apply to Cyrodiil. The other provinces would have kept their original pantheons. And their unique cultural identities. And the cultural influences would have ebbed and flowed back and fourth as time moved forward. That's what would have created the friction between the races.

Phynaster. For example. Was one of the Aldmer people known to have become a god. In their pantheon. He created the Ring of Phynaster. Yet according to the Aldmeri Dominion/Thalmor this is truth. But Talos cannot be a god as he was just a man.

When you look at this. Your heart goes out to Ulfric and the Stormcloak cause as they believe their entire way of life. Their existence is under serious threat. The betrayal of the Nords by Imperial Empire by signing the White-gold Concordat

In my opinion. There is definitely friction between Bethesda and Zenimax in this regard. In terms of the Lore.

Prime example of this is Skyrim Province itself. The whole province should have been covered in snow. The only temperate climate that should have been found was in the south west. Along the border between Skyrim and High Rock.

Thankfully there are many mod authors out there that have made mods to give us the real Skyrim. For which i am grateful.

Yes, and no. Because the powers and characteristics of the gods are determined by faith, equivalent gods in different pantheons are both seperate and the same. When worship differs a new aspect is born for a new congregation. They have one true form in higher aetherius but many aspects divided amongst the afterlives of the various races. For example Auriel(Dawn), Akatosh(Day), and Alduin(Dusk) are all aspects of the time god Aka and while the elven Lorkhan is in pieces Shor is doing just fine and Shezzar doesn't exist anymore because he was replaced by Talos.

I think this was one of the biggest missed opportunities to really drive home the divide between the Empire and Skyrim.  The Holds loyal to the Empire could've kept the Imperial Pantheon minus Talos, while those who wanted a Free and Independent Skyrim could not only reject the Talos ban, but Reclaim, as the Dunmer have done, their traditional Old Gods.  The only issue would be that Talos, of course, does not exist in the Ancient Pantheon either, but since Gods and Worship in this universe is mostly driven by Faith, and since Shor is considered "dead," Talos could easily be included.

They COULD even have juked the Justiciars by claiming Talos's old title "Ysmir."  "I'm not worshipping Talos, I'm worshipping Ysmir."

But yes, I'm all for a Nordic Reclamation.  It could've been epic!

Or they even could have had a joinable bandit faction that worships the original Nordic pantheon that points out the Stormcloaks as Hypocrites. "Why should these 'Stormcloaks' be up in arms at the banning of Talos? Talos is simply an imperialized bastardization of the mighty Ysmir, One of the many Gods these 'True sons and daughters of Skyrim' abandoned in exchange for the Empire's help rebuilding what the Daedra destroyed. Every city, town and village in Skyrim is inhabited by the Empire's lap dogs. The true children of Kyne live in Skyrim's wilderness, relying on the land and raids to feed ourselves. They are fortunate Shor's only requirements for entry to Sovngarde are bravery and might for if it were faith they would be turned away." - sermon of a bandit priest I just made up.

      @ogamigoro

If you REALLY want to have the Stormcloaks stick to Thalmor; have them be believers of the Shezarrine theory that, like Whitestreak, Talos was a mortal reincarnation of Shor, which would also help him fit into their old pantheon easier by allowing him to be represented by Shors in game fox totem imagery.

How is Akatosh named on this mod? And is Shor added?

The Nords recognize only the Alduin aspect of Akatosh. As for Shore; He's techicaly considered to be a "dead god" by the Nords because he gave his immortal life to become the Earth bones of Mundus. Talos, however, was thought to be a shezarrine, which essentially means a mortal reincarnation of Shezarr, which is the Alessian name for Shor.

This mod needs more downloads and more attention. This is lore accurate. Something that could have created way more tension between stormcloaks and the empire. And it honestly could have given Ulfric Stormcloak way more legitimacy.

It's actually the Imperials following the Nord pantheon. The Nords are the oldest race of man in Tamriel.

This is quite the old comment but I'm still gonna answer.
The Imperial Pantheon was a compromise to establish "peace" between mer and men. Shor was made Shezzar because Shor is a "racist" god who hates mer and has zero compassion for them. Kyne is a badass war-maiden who is Shor's wife. Alduin too is the complete opposite of Auri-El.

And Nords are not the first men on Tamriel. Just the first to shake a race of mer pretty heavy.

Seems to still be Form 43, shame because I've been trying to find a mod that ads back in the Nodic Pantheon.

Any chance we could get a version that only changes Kynareth to Kyne?
