Now that I am playing the AE/SE version of Skyrim I finally got Thrynn converted over to AE/SE. I tested twice for each version and didn't find any issues except once he was naked for some reason. After asking him to follow me, all I had to do was exchange a single item in trade to have him put on his gear. This was with the RDO version. You do, of course, have to get far enough along in the initial quests to meet Thrynn before you can ask him to follow you. Also at the point where you are doing the end part of the quest I recommended disbanding him so his scripted scene later doesn't create any issues. Those who have done the full quest line will know what I mean.
Update 2022-08-22: Got permission to include the Witcher Bandoliers I converted to SE. I uploaded the original conversion as well as a separate file for my custom mesh edits. They are only for the male bag version and only for 100% weight. I fixed most of the clipping on a male SOS body set to max weight. It won't auto-scale down to lower weights so will float on males with less then max body size. However, the original version does scale and should be fine for most male bodies. My edits are really only for SOS male at max weight.
Update 2022-08-21: Added an optional download file that has the converted Iorveth Light Armor mod from LE. This mod has the bandana (head wrap) that Thrynn uses in many of my screenshots. Permission states others can use the mod as long as credit is given to L0rdOfWar and Hucifer.
Update 2022-08-20: Initial upload of the mod. No real issues found in testing both versions except once had to initiate trading gear to get him to equip his clothes and items.
Like any base follower in Skyrim you can only change his outfit if you give him something that has a higher armor rating, then he switches. If you want to directly manage his outfits then you need to use a follower mod, like with any other vanilla based companion. In my game he is set to a large size and I consider a half-giant (like that lady warrior in ESO) with very high cold resistance. So I just give him a cloak. But its mute for me anyhow since I use a follower manager mod anyhow so can change his outfit as I want. Still the one he has is my favorite which is why I included it - so he wears it the most often anyhow.
Does Thrynn become marriageable with this mod? I haven't been able to find any mods that make him marriageable yet. Console commands also do not work - I don't think he has a marriage faction in base game.
Nice. Always loved the raider/bandit voice and would love to have him as a follower. Sadly I'm on Xbox series x so I can't download this :'-) if you ever decide to port it I will totally download this ASAP
Thanks! I think only the vanilla version could be ported as the full one requires RDO which I don't think is compatible with Xbox. I don't own Xbox which would also make testing hard for the vanilla. Maybe at some point will try.
I have been looking for a mod that lets him become a follower and I'm so glad I found this, but when I talked to him it wouldn't give the option to follow me. Is there a specific point in the questline I have to get to in order for him to follow me?
You downloaded the RDO version, do you have RDO installed? That version uses the bandit voice which won't have dialogue options for Thrynn to follow unless RDO is installed. If you don't want to use RDO then you need to use the vanilla version.
You only have to get far enough in the quest line to get into the cistern in the ratway (i.e. after you meet Mercer and get the goldenglow estate quesst).
I have tried both versions, but I cant seem to get the option of making him a follower :( Is there a specific loading order of the mods or something..?
@Lisette86 - Could depend on what you use for mods. I can only guess you have a mod conflict somewhere. Maybe some mod that affects the TG NPC's, a follower manager, or maybe you you had him in an earlier save from something else. I have been testing with him since release with no issues and no other reports of problems.
AHOY! Love the smexy body type! Male followers are pretty rare. Although.... the majority of them out there are largely warriors and fighter types. Any chance fo making a similar Big buff Husbando but as a Healer / support role?
Thank you! I haven't done anything with healers as I don't think there are any in the game as followers. Most of mine are make-overs (Erik, Thrynn, Durak). I have one custom follower, Garulf, based of one of the Skaald, but he is a fighter. Doing healing requires adding in healing spells and the like, gets a little more complicated.
I think there are some nice male healer followers probably on Nexus if you look around though! Maybe someone will comment on it if they know of any. I only play with a rogue and warrior team plus a wolf or other canine for company.
Thanks! I am not sure he ever hit me with that shout before. Usually NPC's are good about not hitting the plaer. It's the other way around I tend to be horrible at lol.
First time I met this guy, he already caught my attention. But, I ended up with Marcurio the sassy mage since Thrynn is not a follower. I have a soft spot for this type of characters — tough on the outside. Anyway, thank you for this mod. Trying this out now.

I feel so bad for him shirtless in High Hrothgar :_:

And at least in my game, he's the only follower with that voice type, so I guess he's uniquely voiced to boot :D
Impressive set of perks. Though that shout almost killed me at level 1, leaving the Guild, when that skeever jumped on me and Thrynn taunted at it....
