When using this mod, one of the few issues could arise so I wanted to make a sticky post addressing some of these in order to get around some of these a little faster. VV All the info is here VV
This occurs not because of the meshes but because of conflicts in your load order. I highly recommend using simplicity of snow together with this mod. However if you have other mods like [Skyrim Remastered - Glaciers and Ice, Cathedral Snow, others..] that conflict with simplicity of snow because they alter the same thing, then it will cause these issues to happen.
Go through your load order, make sure simplicity of snow is enabled. Look at the mods that work similar to Simplicity of Snow (as they might conflict) and disable them. (You can see what mods conflict with simplicity of snow through SSEEdit)
This is caused by a variety of reason. One of the main culprits I found out when doing this mod is that Skyrim Remastered - Glaciers and Ice mod has a plugin which alters ice objects to have snow as well as forces snowprojection settings to be restored back to vanilla settings which overwrite simplicity of snow regardless of load order.
I highly recommend disabling this plugin or deleting it from the mod itself.
Find snow01.dds texture and snow01_n.dds. Copy these and paste them into textures/effects/ The textures: Projecteddiffuse.dds and Projectednormaldetail.dds - You can either delete them or rename them to keep them as a back up. Now the pasted snow textures, rename them accordingly: snow01.dds >>> Projecteddiffuse.dds snow01_n.dds >>> Projectednormaldetail.dds
You can also just create a mod file for yourself by adding a folder with directory: textures\effects\ . So this way it can act more as a permanent than temporary solution in case something decides to overwrite the files like MM or others.
Issue 3#: Reflections are too bright/dark !
Tip: You can manually change the intensity of the new reflections by altering the brightness of "Reflection.dds". Please be careful with brightness(RGB) values though, it's very sensitive and may disable the reflections fully if it's too dark.
Issue 4#: Using ENB Addon makes glaciers flicker
Boris has fixed this issue, just update to the latest version of ENB. If you have the latest version then it's likely to be something on your end causing issues.
Why are other cubemaps incompatible ?
vanilla and other cubemaps introduce too many contrasted colors which then translate into RGB glaciers. We don't want to have randomly colorful glaciers but instead follow a linear refractive pattern. So these are tuned to do just that.
If there are any other issues that people come across I'll update this section.
I've made a discord server for ice and ice related mods in SkyrimSE modding community. Join if you'd like to hang out and get up to date with my work as well as provide feedback. Quick support for my mods is also available if you're running into issues or if you're unsure with anything.
Changelog for version 2.41 Important ! >>> If you're playing with IcyFixesFull, updating from 2.38 will ruin your save by removing ice objects. Don't update if you're using it!
Minor update: - safe to update from 2.40
Bug Fixes and improvements: - Forgot to add 1.71 plugin support to LOD plugins. - Removed few more unused files - Returned Object Bounds to original values in IceLOD plugins - Forwarded some records from LaWF and USSEP - Fixed IceLOD plugins using snow flags - Fixed icefloessolid02 lod using vertex colors
Even if I select 'None' in no slush version, it installs anyway. Can someone confirm if it really happens, or it's just some weird incompatibility on my end?
I just tried installing it and indeed it works fine if I select none in no slush section. However I did find a FOMOD little bug which wont install the low poly no slush. So i'll have to release a hotfix tomorrow for that one.
Reinstalled it one more time to be sure, it again removed slush. Icy Mesh Remaster wins all file conflicts. If you say it works then I believe you, but any clues where should I look for issues?
There's something I've been confused about for about a year with this mod. Why is the IMRPatchForVanillaAndBDS a .esl?
I assume its purpose as a "patch" is to overwrite and correct records that could potentially be affected by vanilla overwrites from other mods, or BDS and its patches, meaning the IMR patch should win and resolve the conflict. But as far as I'm aware, every version of BDS is a .esp-based plugin. That makes it entirely impossible for IMRPatchForVanillaAndBDS.esl to win the conflict, since it loads early, way up in ESM/ESL space with the likes of CC, vanilla fixes, and resource plugins. Any other random vanilla+ mod with a normal plugin that contains those records would also win against the IMR patch for the same reason.
All this time, I've just made a copy of the IMR patch's contents into a normal ESPFE to load after BDS, but should I not? Perhaps I am just missing some information that would make it make sense.
Snow covered drifts in the soul cairn? Yes, I'm using an older version of the mod 1.6 and this may have been fixed by now. Hard to tell in the changelog. If so, please disregard. Resolved the issue by hiding/removing the snowdriftl02.nif in the mod. After looking at this closer... I don't think it has anything to do with this mod.
The latest updated removed icyFixes.esm and DynDOLOD is now complaining about missing master. Why was the file removed and what should I do now? Do I need to re-generate the LOD?
As I mentioned in the changelog, with the latest version 2.40 and 2.41, the icyfixes.esm aka the full version is officially removed because it will be replaced with IMR2.
IMR2 will feature a drastically better implementation of what icyfixes.esm had.
Therefore it's a major update, so you should either keep on playing with the 2.38 version or wait for the IMR2. The older version is not deleted, so you can find it in old files if what.
I updated the descriptions to make it more obvious
You can see in your screenshots that your meshes are much brighter than vanilla meshes. You can see it very much in the night screenshots (Vanilla Meshes vs Icy Mesh Remaster).
Where in vanilla the blending between Ice meshes and snow is pretty good, using your meshes there's many hard lines. Is it possible to somehow get the brightness of your ice meshes back to vanilla levels?

Is it not needed or just hasn't been done by anyone (yet)?
It's already supporting ENB complex parallax by default
