About this mod

Overhauls the way you level Smithing to be a lot easier, more interesting and requiring much less grind.

Leveling Smithing in vanilla Skyrim is very repetitive and dull. A simple experience multiplier also didn't quite cut it for me, so I completely reworked how you level it.
Now whenever you forge a new item for the first time your Smithing increases by one full level, but forging the very same item a second time gives you no experience at all. This means that to get your Smithing to level 100 you have to forge 85 (or 80 if your race has a +5 bonus) unique items.
To keep track of which items you have already forged the MCM gives you a list of all possible items and shows which ones you've already completed.

This makes it a lot easier to get to get Smithing to level 100 than in vanilla Skyrim. But leveling Smithing is like the least fun thing you can do in vanilla Skyrim. The idea of this mod is to take this dull grinding away for people who just want to do RP playthroughs and are not trying to min-max their character for one-shotting legendary dragons.

Most items are identified by keywords rather than their id (the only exceptions being jewelry and housebuilding materials). This has the effect that for example a custom armor that has they keywords ArmorCuirass and ArmorTypeOrcish will qualify as forging an orcish armor and grant you a level the first time you forge it. Forging both the custom armor and a vanilla orcish armor will not grant you two levels, however, because the script considers the two to be the same thing.
The only negative side effect of this is that Ancient Nord Armor has the daedric material keyword in vanilla Skyrim and therefore will be considered as forging a deadric item. The unofficial patch changes this to the steel material keyword instead (this does not mean the unofficial patch is a requirement, it is not). (you can only forge these items after Kodlac Whitemanes funeral, and only at the Skyforge, so it's not that big of a deal)

Keep in mind that due to the way this works setting Smithing to Legendary is a rather bad idea, as you'll run out of new forgeable items after your second time and will be stuck with a low level Smithing tree.
