WELL, WELL, WELL. Looks like many people need this guide more than ever. So many FAILED to hear my advice and proceeded to try to "keep updating their game." Now, those that updated are asking for support.
DO NOT UPDATE YOUR MODDED GAME. BE RESPONSIBLE AND MONITOR YOUR LOAD ORDER. DO NOT JUST UPDATE YOUR GAME ON EVERY NEW UPDATE THEN COMPLAIN YOUR LO IS BROKEN.
RESPONSIBLE MODDERS STAY ON A SINGLE VERSION BUILD. BRAVO TO ALL THOSE STILL ON 353, 640, OR SE Skyrim.
IF PEOPLE ARE DYING TO KEEP UP WITH UPDATES, YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN TO SEEK MOD UPDATE SUPPORT.
Cutting room floor is definitely a gameplay mod. It should go early on in your mod list since many other mods will bound to touch similar records.
Same thing with archery gameplay overhaul and any magic overhaul. unless another combat mod is going to alter their features then decide which mod should go first to last.
My biggest thing with Ae and even SE now is trying to streamline the combat mods to something that relies on precise parries and dodges , and a way to have a ton of new animations to spice up the look of combat (in first and third). Do you have any mods that make the combat challenging like this to suggest for AE or heck even SE now? Like i would love to update to AE but this is my biggest thing, also does anyone know how to save my files now as SE so i can get the update and switch back and forth as i want to?
well combat is very subjective because most new mods are doing fancy redesigns with the skyrim engine using Nemisis. Which also means those flashy mods depend more on skse compatibility with each other. My best advice is to keep it simple and keep it skyrim, Animation replacers are always the way to go!
When it comes to combat, the only thing to know is traditional non-ragdoll video games use a "parry" keyframe animation and effect to give the illusion of force.
-For Skyrim parry I would advise Cool Staggers https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/64887 NpcHavokHit https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/736 and Sekiro Combat https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/31915 (sekiro combat requires you have ultimate combat as your main combat mod)
For animation replacers use Large Stagger Animation https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/52022 Kick Bash replacer https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/52022
Anything else is just optional like True Directional Movement and TK DODGE.
It's not required to back up your SE folder since AE is just an upgrade. Just do your research and see if a mod has released an AE version.
Im not against AE, I just cant play without many of the mods that havent been updated. Especially freeflycam plugins. Honestly Ill never touch AE till that's available. Thx for this guide tho!
Cheers man, I always appreciate some modding advice and opinions. My skyrim AE looks pretty good now but it's the usual 7 gb of land textures here then 4 gb of wall textures over that with 3 gb of grass textures and so on... Always looking for ways to keep it simple yet still look like a decent modern day game!
I am unsure but I thinks you cannot give people to download text files anymore or not allowed to do so. I thinks they should be used to make a collection via vortex instead?
This is not a collection or a wabbajack list as much as it is a guide with examples to help people update their game to utilize AE including tips on how mods work in theory and how your computer handles textures and high polys. I highly suggest not to treat this as a collection because this guide is a modding resource for trouble shooting your game, not trouble shooting the mods. Each file explains the topic that its covering by giving examples such as how textures work.
This guide also covers common issues about CTDs and installations for mod users. It tells you how to choose your ENB and how ENBs work. It's not trying to tell people how to download pi cho enb and change the enb parameters for a glossier setting. Rather it explains how ENBs can affect your actual computer specs. Same thing with cleaning using programs like SSEEDIT64. I dont think any collection on vortex is telling people to download SE programs like NIF OPT, are they?
This mod is extremely important especially for first time gamers starting on AE. All the screenshots in this mod are showcasing how they are able to work in AE settings.
