I just did a complete run over the entire description page to, hopefully, make things clearer on what Hardcore Mode is and the proper way to install and use this mod. If you still have questions, drop'em here and Sthagg (or myself I guess... now that's he's given me access) will get to you when we can.

Make sure you've read the description before asking questions.

I am at my wit's end with this mod. No matter what I do, it simply will not work. I've tried everything. I've installed all of its requirements. I've tried just about every setting. But no matter what I do, it simply will not save every x seconds like it's supposed to! I can manual save, and those will even use the rotating save system, but that's it.

The whole reason I installed this mod was for the timed saves. Any help would be appreciated.

Oh, and it just occurred to me to mention because I'll probably get asked otherwise, no, I am not using any flavor of the hardcore mode.

Is there a way to stop the autosaving timer to execute a save right after initialising a session? I use HUD mods that take some time to initialise and I experienced, over the testing of about 10 different new games with just the mod's autosave option or a working save-rotation of SSO2, that the save-bound config (not the config loaded via MCM Helper, FISSES or other MCM injectors) of my HUD mods seem to get corrupted. What makes me think that? Mainly the custom HUD won't load on rotating saves or autosaves that happened right during game initialisation (all of the HUD mods except for my compass and TrueHUD). It doesn't matter how long I then stay in the game, the HUD features won't show up - sometimes mod authors of those HUD mods recommend to wait a bit and I did before blaming SSO2, that's why I tested a lot the last week but my conclusion is that something is happening in said timeframe of startup. No matter the settings of my mods or disabling part of the HUD compound I individualised for my needs, the HUD breaks after some saves while using the full glory of features SSO2 brings. The problem doesn't occur on new saves/games at all, also it won't "corrupt" the settings if I use SSO2 just for the manual save shortcut and the save protection feature. But that was not my goal with your absolute immersive mod. I really want to use the True Hero mode as it elevated my AE experience to a (literally) whole new level. In my SKSE and papyrus logs I don't see anything strange or corruption-related so I can't post anything useful here besides telling you what I registered over the past week.

a save right after initialising a session

Just to be sure, do you mean that my SSSO mod saves after the game load while your mods are being initialized?

      exactly

Edit: but it seems to also happen regularly with the save rotation enabled. I tested it just yesterday after I had the hope that disabling the autosave would solve the problem. But even when the manual saves are included into the save rotation and I savely execute the new save function well after the game had loaded all mods (like 3 or 4 minutes I waited just to be sure) the HUD still dissapears for the rest of that playthrough.

Rotational saves are the same than manual one.
So if you save after everything is loaded, it is the same that doing a classic save.

So I don't thnnk the problem is directly induced by this mod.

It only happens when I use this mod to save

Edit: I have to correct myself, it really only seems to happen with any of your Hardcore-mods activated and auto-saving. when I only put the manual saves in a rotation (and save regularly) the HUD widgets still load. But as soon as any function saves within the initialisation of the save game the HUD widgets from AMOT, IWant Widgets NG and this need widget break for the next time I load a save game.

Okay something weird happened that might give you some more insight, personally I have no clue how this could have have influence on the situation but apparently it does :D When I pressed "Dismiss" in the Menu Maid 2 Config, therefore giving back control to the standard SkyUI MCM Manager and disabling Menu Maid 2 for the playthrough, the next time I loaded into a save from a gamefile saved with your mod, the HUD elements came back... But sadly just for 5 saves or so and then they vanished again. Did the same steps (quests, items, locations, sleep/wait) as before but without SSO2 and everything works

Edit: While having SSO2 active, encountering the bug, and changing locations seems to help as well. When I have the rotating saves active. Maybe that helps :3 I won't give up, I will find that compatibility issue :D

AMOT and KiC widget are in my load order since the beginning and I never face any issue with sso2 active.
So it is not the culprit.
I'm pretty sure i'm already played with uwant widget, but I can't be 100 % sure.
I never tested Menu maid 2.

Today I tested again, deactivated SSO2, all working... I am out of ideas wich other mod could interfere as there is none that possibly could. Do you have an idea?

I couldn't show up MCM menu, but I've figure out. this mod's esp file require USSEP as master and I haven't instal it that is why. So I remove master from mod using SSEEdit and it work!
Anyway, great mod!  Thank you author!

Can i ask why you'd ever choose to remove USSEP as a master as opposed to just using USSEP? You prefer your game full of bugs?

It has more to do with the current author of the USSEP mod (not original author, they took ownership later it's kinda complicated). I'd recommend looking it up if you haven't heard about it. There is a lot of drama there :\

Is there any way to save without leaving the game? Thanks for the mod, I'm learning how to use it.

I am getting an error coming up in the console for this mod.  It states the following:

[Error] Can't parse JSON file at 'Data/NL_MCM/Save Sytem Overhaul 2/persistence/settings.nlset' at line 1:0 - (two symbols I don't recognize) expected near end of file

I wonder if that may be causing issues.  As, I cannot get it to work reliably.

This error only happens when you launch the mod for the first time when it look for persistent file that doesn't exit yet.
If you use mo2 don't delete the file under overwrite.

I have this mod installed with all the requirements; however I'm not seeing it appear in the MCM anywhere. Do I need to use the I'm a milk drinker.esp?

Got it to work, just had to wait for the MCM menu to register it. Is there a way to disable save on character menu? Every time I change it under gameplay options it reverts back to save every 5 minutes.

Is there any way to get this mod to make saving work like it does in the vanilla game? I just want to get an autosave every time I use a door and load a new cell

I'd like to do this too. Also, reading the description I'm wondering when does this script save? I only see the description list the times that it doesn't save.

After many hours game play with this MOD. I changed my mind. This mod is really useful, especially with the rotate save.
The saved file could be corrupted some time, but it is way better than no save. So I wont lost long-time progress by corrupted fast-save, or unexpected defeat.
Now I don't have to keep many saves in big dungeon. only one manual save for one mission.

My only complain is that now manual save is not numbered in order.

Anyway, excellent work and thank you!

    ============= Old comment ==================
I believe this mod is autosaving during combat, e.g. a dragon fight. and sometime this causes game stalled.
Some autosaves are damaged and can not be loaded.

So still not a safe save, at least to me.

This mod doesn't save in combat except if this one is too long.
If it doesn't detect you are in combat (or if the mod believe you are always in combat, consequence are the same), it is something weird in your setup.

Hi I enabled rotated save. It works great. But now the problem is that the manual saves are numbered 01-10, unordered. Is it possible to revert the manual save back to vanilla save ordered numbering?
