The Ultimate Dodge Mod - SPID Patch

Version 1.2.1
11 December 2022
Borgut1337

A patch for The Ultimate Dodge Mod. The primary modification is to use SPID (Spell Perk Item Distributor) for the NPC dodging AI, instead of the more script-intensive cloak effect. Patch also includes numerous other fixes, simplications, and optimisations. Original mod required.

Requirements
- The Ultimate Dodge Mod: original mod required for animations, sounds, and so on... this patch only includes updated scripts and .esp file. More specifically, I recommend downloading The Ultimate Dodge Mod Reborn as the basis to put this patch on top of.
- Spell Perk Item Distributor (SPID) (without this the dodging AI for NPCs won't work, but the rest actually might)
SkyUI (required for MCM. Rest of mod may work without it, but I have not tested)

Changes made by this patch
- Using SPID to distribute scripts to NPCs instead of cloak effects
- Left Control as default Sneak key instead of Left Shift (for actual sneaking, not for sneaking-turned-into-dodge)
- Default dodge style = Sidesteps (rolling still an option)
- Many (mostly probably minor) script optimisations
- Removed options for armor/weight-based dodge speed changes
- No more unequipping all the player's armor for init
- Probably fixed a bug with Spell Resist/Absorbtion breaking the mod (see https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/10446988-the-ultimate-dodge-mod-script-fixes/page-17#entry104758783)
- No more changing dodge style when typing in menus
- Maybe removed the requirement to have completed "Unbound" (intro quest), but not 100% sure (and don't know what will happen if you try to dodge during that quest).
- No distinction between "combat" and "default" dodge styles
- No "last used" dodge style, just roll or sidestep
- Fixed NPC Dodge Frequency options in MCM so they do something
- Default low frequency for NPC dodging

- Removed ConsoleUtil messages (which were added by TUDM - Script Fixes)
- Desyonchrinzed NPCs' dodge reactions to non-power melee attacks (so they won't all dodge exactly at the same time)
- Fixed bug where continuous spells (like Flames) would appear to keep casting after dodging during a cast.

Installation
Same as any other standard mod, recommend installing using a Mod Manager. Note that this is not a full mod, just a patch; remember to also install requirements!

(In)compatibilities
Should be no different from the original TUDM, or the TUDM Reborn that I built this patch on top off. Likely wouldn't work too well in combination with other mods that also add dodging, and fine with anything else.

Notes on Load Order
Since this mod modifies various ArmorAddon records for relatively minor reasons (improving sounds when dodging), I'd recommend loading the .esp relatively early in your load order (at least before mods that may edit those same records for more  noticeable reasons, such as updating how armors looks).

FAQ
Q: How do I sneak?
A: The button that is set up as the "sneak button" inside Skyrim's controls menu is instead "hijacked" by TUDM and used as the dodging key. TUDM instead implements a new button (which may be configured in its MCM) that newly implements sneaking. In this patch, I by default set the new sneaking button to Left Control, and then I (personally) manually change the "Skyrim sneak button" (actually now dodge button) to Left Alt, but you will have to do this yourself!

Q: I already have TUDM (or TUDM Reborn or some other variant) installed. Can I directly use this?
A: Maybe, but I would recommend first safely deactivating TUDM and making a clean save without any form of TUDM, due to the many changes in lots of scripts. Concretely, this would mean that you would
1) go to some safe interior cell with no NPCs around
2) use TUDM's built-in uninstall/deactivate mechanism
3) make a saved game
4) deactivate the .esp file of TUDM
5) make another saved game
6) install this patch (on top of the existing TUDM installation which you still need for animations and other files) and activate its .esp again
7) at least play around and test a bit to make sure it works as you like before you start overwriting your own saved games
