About this mod

The Huntsman bow's upgrades literally does not do what it says it does. This mod is meant to fix the Huntsman in a way that isn't game breaking (hopefully).

UPDATE 1.1: toned down the speed of the bow overall. Upgrade 4 is appx equal to Zephyr, being slightly weaker, but faster firing. Upgrade 5 is appx equal to the Dragonbone Bow in DPS

Requirements
Permissions and credits
To Do:
* mod compatibility
* add optional "greatbow" mode with very slow fire rate
*adjust permissions to reflect original authors' intent

In the mod The Huntsman SE, a port of InsanitySorrow's The Huntsman from LE, there are many upgrades that do not match up with what the description text says AT ALL. For example, the first upgrade, the Leather Wraps, says that it increases fire rate, when it actually makes the bow draw slower (.86 > .8). I understand that it's to be in line with the rest of the bows in the game, where stronger bows fire slower, but it just doesn't sit right with me that the descriptions are literally just incorrect. This mod is a tweak to the stats of the huntsman to make it less of a high damaging, slow firing weapon, as we already have plenty of those in vanilla, and more of a weaker, high rate of fire battle bow that can actually contend with stronger bows.

The changes are as follows

VERSION 1.1

Spoiler:
Show

Upgrade 0:
decreased base speed from .86 > .85

Upgrade 1: Description says increased fire rate
increased base speed from .8 > .95

Upgrade 2: Description says increased crit damage
increased base speed from .8 > .95
I didn't change the crit damage because it was already a good and noticable buff without my interference

Upgrade 3: Description says further increased crit damage
increased base speed from .8 > .95
increased crit damage from 7 > 8
decreased dmg from 11 > 10

Upgrade 4: Description says even faster firing rate
increased base speed from .7 > 1.1
increased crit damage from 7 > 9
decreased dmg from 14 > 11

Upgrade 5: Description says increased damage
increased base speed from .7 > 1.1
decreased damage from 18 > 13

I also added an alternate "Greatbow" version. This fires VERY slowly to start, but level 0 starts at Dwarven bow level damage. Changes are as follows:

Upgrade 0:
decreased base speed from .86 > .25
increased base damage from 7 > 12 (Dwarven)
increased crit dmg from 3 > 5

Upgrade 1: Description says increased fire rate
decreased base speed from .8 > .35
increased base damage from 8 > 13 (Elven)
increased crit damage from 3 > 4

Upgrade 2: Description says increased crit damage
decreased base speed from .8 > .35
increased base damage from 9 > 14 (just under Glass)
increased crit damage from 5 > 7

Upgrade 3: Description says further increased crit damage
decreased base speed from .8 > .35
increased base damage from 11 > 16 (just under Ebony)
increased crit dmg from 7 > 11

Upgrade 4: Description says even faster firing rate
decreased base speed from .7 > .5
increased base damage from 14 > 18 (just under Daedric)
increased crit dmg from 7 > 13

Upgrade 5: Description says increased damage
decreased base speed from .7 > .5 (Dragonbone is .75)
increased base damage from 18 > 24 (Dragonbone is 20)
increased crit damage from 10 > 17

The damage decreases were to try to balance the sheer speed of the bow. The Long Bow and Zephyr are the fastest firing bows in Skyrim and this one nearly matches both after the first upgrade. 13 base damage (at max rank) is equivalent to an Elven Bow. With these changes, I feel comfortable now knowing that I'm getting the stats I'm asking for and that it's also not completely overpowered.
