On the screen that gives you that error about a bad data directory, open the EMCompViljaSkyrimSE_Vanilla_4_3 folder. You should see a folder called Data. Right click on Data and choose "Select as <data> directory".
If you do this correctly, the red error message will turn green and change text to say that things look good.
Yeah, this solution also didn't work for me... Not at first. It turned out that on that same menu, you have the box where you can edit the name, it turns out, at least for me, you *can't* edit the name to be whatever you want. Choose from the drop down, otherwise it won't work. Not sure how or why, but the mod wasn't working until I did that.
Even though I hate it, I use that program (by sh ** t), called MO2. When I try to install Vilja 4.3 it doesn't install it for me, it says: "This mod has probably NOT been set up correctly, most likely it will NOT work. You should first fix the folder order using the content tree.
