For those running into errors trying to get this working on Skyrim version 1.6.640, you should be able to get parallax working again by doing the following:
Download this mod. And then download this mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/70760
Install both of them, then go to SKSE plugins folder and delete the "SSEShaderTools.dll" file but do NOT delete "ShaderTools.dll".
That's it, parallax should now work as normal without any errors as far as I can tell.
I believe the updated shader tools mod has parallax as part of its functions so your just using its dll (which does work with the latest version of Skyrim) combined with the actual shader files from this page, I'm no expert but I think that's the gist of it anyway, I could be wrong but at the least, this method works for me.
Edit: Forgot to add! Remember to also install d3dcompiler_47.dll into your root folder too if you don't already have it, it's a requirement for the Updated Shadertools mod to work, a link for it can be found in the description on its page.
yo this still worked for me today, i had a dll out of date pop up issue using the original mod a comment there sent me here and your comment here fixed everything. cheers.
My attempts at this have led to immediate CTD. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong here :/
Editing this post instead of taking it down so other people who may have the issue can see. Community Shaders says it isn't compatible with this. I didn't read. This explains it.
That doesn't work for me.Installed "SSE Parallax Shader Fix (BETA) Updated" followed by "ShaderTools Updated" then deleted "SSEShaderTools.dll" in the first mod.
This is simply an option for those you don't want to, or can't use ENB. ENB is light years ahead when it comes to color and quality compared to ReShade, and Complex Parallax puts Vanilla Parallax to shame. However, most people who choose to opt out of ENB do it because it's a HUGE tax on performance. I personally have an 8GB 3080 and have to use 2k textures on a 4k monitor or else it's a slideshow. Even then, I only average maybe 30 FPS at best around large/dense areas like Whiterun/Riverwood/Falkreath, while interiors are obviously pretty smooth. Using Nature of the Wild Lands with DynDoLOD 3 is basically a death sentence at 4k resolution. Turning in different directions is destructive.
PureDark's DLSS Mod is absolutely fantastic though and works wonders, and when using that, my FPS is much better, but obviously upscale quality will never be as good as vanilla quality (some blurs are present, not bad at all, tbh, but it's there). So that, and/or going into the INI and bringing the resolution down to 1440p or 1080p is an alternative.
But yeah, anyways! Like I said, it's just here for people who don't want the performance hit. Ultimate Immersion and NAT.ENB III are my top two favs for ENB but I've heard PI-CHO is solid, so maybe I'll do another playthrough with that, haha.
What is with you & enb? not everyone want's to use an enb. I've used them before & it's a broken mess that has given me more problems for every game I've tried it on than Reshade ever has, if I even wanted to use that. All I need is parallax textures, not some reworking of the visuals & settings I don't want enabled that cost me 15~20 fps. Stop shilling on here.
Any of you recently downloaded and used original Shadertools.dll Updated for AE 1.6.640 so I hope any of you still have it, don't you mind to drop it in the download link here if possible?
I got download link from you today. I renamed Shadertools.dll to SSEShaderTool.dll that works perfectly with AE 1.6.640 without any issues and CTD. I like it that works better with Parallax mesh, ReShade and ENB instead of Community Shader that is not compatible with ENB.
Thank you very much for your help to drop off download link here.
Sorry, I have not played Skyrim in more than two years. Aers' original work has a newer update, but I'm reading in the comments it does not work.
So I will update this when I got time, please be patient. It is really difficult to make this type of mods for Skyrim, and for every update it requires a lot of trying and testing to know why the update break it.
Meanwhile you can use an ENB. I personally hate ENBs but as far as I know that's the only solution for now.
Could you update the mod to be compatible with the latest version (1.6.640 at the time of writing). the last compatible version according to the mod manager is 1.6.629.
It should be, however the game has since updated, and this mod is no longer compatible. This mod doesnt need to be updated though, as aers updated his mod, so you can download it from the original page.
Yep, getting the same error message with everything installed (I grabbed the ENB-compatible version on author's patreon). Running on 1.6.640. Game does launch and run ok but things are a little blurry.
The description reads: "Injects fixed parallax shaders into Skyrim Special Edition". Do you mean ANNIVERSARY Edition? The rest of the description makes it seem like you're trying to make it compatible with the latest game version...
Edit: ok your req's call for AE so yeah, should probably update the description so people aren't confused.
for at least several months, all modmakers have been taking care of the stability of the user build - and for this they share the concept of AE and SE. Please turn on the brain - do not mix warm with soft. SE is SE AE is AE Special Edition (1.5.x) and Anniversary Edition (1.6.x)

You don't need this anymore if you use an ENB that has parallax like PI-CHO. ;)
Just use PI-CHO and smile again! LOL :P

Image of error.
Doesn't that mean it's compatible with 1.6.640 as well?

brugarolas92, this also concerns you.
I do not know if the mod is still edited here,
but if so I ask for an upgrade so that it runs again.
According to the information it needs an upgrade for
"SKSE 2.2.0 and game version 1.6.629".
I thank you in advance if it is made.
This is so annoying lol damn you Todd
