id very much prefer not a replacer since its such a cool weapon its deserves to stay true to itself. especially replacing another artifact kinda takes away from unique finds.
i wouldn't mind seeing it in a small cave with it sticking out of stone through a giant troll skull or even on top of the throat of the world as it reminded him of Olympus as he passed through this weird world to leave some items so they would be forgotten. kinda what they did with the Buster sword just a different location.
could even have a effect that you take a decent amount of damage lifting it for the first time as a certain strength requirement to wield it similar to the power stone in the Infinity mod.
something simple and awarding, and i think it gives love to the series in my opinion and wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility to be honest. could even sprinkle in some remains showing some who had found it but failed to lift it. i dont see him getting to sovnguard story wise but maybe the soul cairn? i just see it as a relic left to age and be forgotten, not held by another or in a place crawling with enemies since its to represent his change from the old games into where we saw him next.
BUT! if you had the ability and wanted a sweet little boss fight.. there is a sword i love most of all that acts much like Umbra but better lol Soul Edge from the soul caliber games. if you could make that animated sword with the eye... id love you forever. take on and defeat a full Nightmare and claim the blade, another very fitting sword that isn't far from cannon possibilities.
