So, it's been a while since I uploaded this mod - I haven't forgotten about it, it's just more "I'm not sure how I want to implement the next update"

A lot has happened in my life - I've gone through a few jobs (1 of which I actually stayed onboard until we literally ran out of work), and have started streaming.

I'm probably going to wind up having 2 versions of this mod - a standard res one (which is the one right now) and a hi-res one. Since the other feature I want to add (namely, a power that gives brief backgrounds on each of the paintings) is likely something I'll be able to use for both, I figure that it would be best if I worked on the hi-res version of the mod. However, I'm not entirely sure how to do that, so if anyone could link me to any tutorials for how to make textures hi-res, that would be great (I'm fine with doing the work myself, I just need to know WHAT to do).

The second update I want to do (namely, a power that lets you hear the backstories of the paintings) is going to be much harder - while I have a general idea of what the power will look like (something along the lines of "If painting name = paintingname1, play paintingbackground1"), I'm not sure about the specifics of how that power is going to be programmed in (basically, if I was building a house, I have the blueprint, but not the materials to make said house) - although I do have a way to explain how you get the power in-universe (namely, after displaying 5+ paintings, I'll just have the courier give you a message from Auryen with a note saying something along the lines of "Since you're gathering up paintings, I figured that, rather than having to explain the backstory of each, we'd use magic that would allow for people to hear about the backstory in their mind by looking at it while in the museum. While we're still working out the specifics of the spell, I figured you might want a history lesson about the paintings you've found", and it would come with a book that would give said power).

While I can come up with backstories that would be rough translations of their IRL histories into the world of Elder Scrolls (I'd do stuff like replace IRL races with TES races - i.e., Hokusai would be an Akaviri painter; I'd probably just come up with the dates at random; although if you have a painting you'd like to come up with the backstory of, feel free to let me know, and, unless someone else already suggested a backstory for one of the paintings, I'll use whatever you suggest), I'm at an impasse in regards who should voice the readings: I'd rather not record them myself if I have a choice (mainly because I'm not the biggest fan of having to hear my own voice, which I would have to do in order to edit out any mistakes I might make while recording; it's why I haven't created any stream highlights, for example), and I'd rather not use Elevenlabs, so my options are:

-Getting in contact with one of the VAs who voice members of the Explorer's Guild, and have them voice the backstories of the paintings (I could have multiple members of the Guild voice the backgrounds if they would be up for doing so).
-OR, I could finding someone who isn't already voicing a member of the Guild and create an entirely new character (something like an old friend of Auryen's who's stuck in Alinor at some university - I'd probably talk with Ice to iron out the details of this one).
Of these two, which is the better one?

Okay, so if anyone sees this:
One thing I'm considering making for this mod is essentially an equivalent of a guided audio tour - this would consist of a power that, when activated, would give commentary on a particular painting that your cursor/crosshair is pointed at.  According to the LOTD discord (who, as I mentioned on the main page, was the main source of inspiration for this mod, and a significant source of help in making it), it is possible to have a power react differently to what the cursor is pointing at, so the way this power would work is it would read the painting, and then play an appropriate audio commentary (either using an in-universe description of the painting, or reciting the IRL history).  I'm not sure who I'll get to voice it (if I can't find anyone, I might just use xVASynth).

I would keep the existing up as is separate, if anyone didn't want to use the audio commentary, but if I was to do this, would anyone be interested?

I really like the paintings you chose, so I wanted to ask if it could be feasible to have an option to read the information of the paintings (the real-world one), something like a notification or text-box message detailing the name, author, year, and so on.
It would be awesome to have a guided tour, maybe even with a configurable duration by MCM. About the narrator, I really like the idea of a new character, the old scholar. About the voice, maybe using spliced lines would do the trick (jayserpa-like), although i don't know if that's easier. Great mod btw!

I'm so happy I found this mod. I think you did a great job curating this little collection for the museum. I was afraid I'd find it immersion breaking when I walked through the museum and looked at the art, but it really does suit the place well. It's so much more interesting and appealing than any other replacer I've tried. Thanks very much for thinking to do this! If this mod ever gets an update (or the optional audio commentary mentioned a couple of posts down), I'll be in line to grab it.

Heeeeeeey, could you possibly add a high-res variant/download if it isn't too much work on your end?
I dig art, but the resolution is a bit low when you're using all those HD mods, plus those paintings deserve to be high resolution!

If it's too much to ask, if you have at least higher res files lying about, I could make that sub-mod.

I'm not opposed to doing so, but I recently started working, so I'm not exactly in a position where I have the same amount of free time that I had when I was making this mod.

I'll probably take some time off of work when I move into my own place, so I might see if I can do something then.

I kind of expect the museum to change it's layout when V6 rolls around anyways (see what happened when it went from V4 to V5), so I'll definitely do an update when that comes out if I haven't already.

ICA said that there were bound to be people who were interested in a replacer that used real life artwork.

I'm glad to see that he was right.

several of these paintings are also used in Snazzy Furniture & Clutter Overhaul, Skyrim Artwork Imports, and Enhanced Solitude.  If you use any of those, you can easily swap some of these in as replacers.
