About this mod

Adds inverted scabbards for use with most vanilla one-handed weapons (including all four free Creations). Generated via Synthesis so players who don't add new weapons to the game and just want dual sheathing don't have to. Intended for use with Simple Dual Sheath, its XPMSSE Left Hand Sheath Rotation Fix and optionally Immersive Equipment Displays.

While Simple Dual Sheath and Immersive Equipment Displays by SlavicPotato are technical marvels that accomplish what other mods did with much less requirements and setup from the user, there's still the shortcoming that if you ever want to dual wield axes/maces you'll have to choose between either having the weapon face the wrong way while sheathed or use the Left Hand Sheath Rotation Fix from optional files, which brings the other issue of having the straps for axes/maces still face the same direction as the right hand ones, so they end up floating in the air.

Even though SteveTownsend quickly came up with the ImmersiveEquipmentMeshGen Synthesis patcher, which not only solves this issue for vanilla weapons as well as any modded weapons the player may use, I don't think players with more vanilla mod setups who don't use any new weapons should have to go through the (often not that user-friendly) task of using Synthesis just to generate left-hand scabbards for the vanilla Skyrim 1H weapons. Nor do I want to have to do it myself the next time I unavoidably need to uninstall/reinstall my mods. Thus this file came to be.

So, what's included? Is this file for me?

This is the output from ImmersiveEquipmentMeshGen in a game without any new weapons/mesh replacers/retextures/etc. The only change I made was removing the Akaviri (Blades Sword, Dragonbane, Bolar's Oathblade) mesh from the output since in my testing the inverted scabbard misaligned with the weapon (these weapons still have scabbards when wielded on the left hand, it's just the vanilla one which aligns properly) While I thoroughly tested the weapons in QASmoke I might have missed some other misaligned weapon, so please let me know in the comments and I'll update with a version without it.

That being said, if you use any weapon packs, individual weapons or unique/artifact weapon replacers that include scabbards and do not include left hand sheathes as optional patches, you may want to generate your own Synthesis patch instead, so these weapons are also properly patched. The two vanilla weapon remodelers I know, LeanWolf's Better-Shaped Weapons and Believable Weapons, include dual sheath patches that you should always use alongside SDS or any other dual sheath mod. You can - and should - use my mod with either so it handles weapons these two mods don't touch, but be sure to place them below my mod in your mod list order, so my file is overwritten.

As for Creation Club content, both free Creations that add new weapons (Fishing and Saints and Seducers) have been included, since these are part of vanilla as of version 1.6 of the game. If you don't like these add-ons and play without them, you'll still be able to use this with no problem, as they're just loose mesh files which will stay unused - but if you still want to get rid of them you can just open the mod's folder and delete the "creationclub" folder inside the "meshes" folder. I do not own any paid Creations nor do I intend to, so for those, the same I said for weapon mods apply: Generate your own Synthesis patch and please do not ask me to add them to this file.

HOW TO INSTALL

Simply download and install it via your favorite manager (Mod Organizer 2 or Vortex). Manual installation is possible but not recommended, and assistance to manual installs by my part would be limited.

I also strongly recommend Draw 2 - Dual Weapon Equip-Unequip Animations by Korodic, a great dual sheathe/unsheathe animation pack that doesn't get the deserved exposure, and just like SDS/IED doesn't require you to mess with Nemesis (be sure to get DAR as well, though).

As stated before, this should lose conflicts with vanilla weapon mesh replacers such as LeanWolf's Better Shaped Weapons and Believable Weapons, and you should be sure to use the appropriate dual sheath patches from these.

REQUIREMENTS & COMPATIBILITY

Intended for use with Simple Dual Sheath alongside its XPMSSE Left Hand Sheath Rotation Fix, found under Optional Files. Which means you won't need XPMSSE as the skeleton files required are already included there. Immersive Equipment Displays is also covered by this, but optional.

Reiterating about compatibility: This is intended for a (mostly) vanilla game when it comes to weapon models. If you use a lot of new weapon mods or unique artifact mods, you're better off patching it yourself.

USAGE

I simply don't know if this is useful for other dual sheath mods as I never bothered with them very much. But I know most have their own ways to circumvent the need for inverted scabbards so probably not. Regardless, don't expect much support from me if you're using this with any mod other than SDS/IED.
