Update 302: Dovakiin's Horse whistle - the horse not loger move to you, the horse run to you - short range whistle - long range whistle
Update 301: - support for Frostfall activated again - new Horse System Menu - new Horse System Feature (Cowardice) - correct default values for Shadowmere implemented - correct default values for Fost implemented - fix an issue with the Tentpole Mesh
Any chance of making a VR version? I play in VR and use this mod but I can't sit in the cart because I float above. I ride my horse to pull the cart which works fine, but I'd love to sit on the cart with my companions. This is one of my Favorite mods, and I can't play without it!
and the worst part is when boarding the cart with followers your head starts to spin uncontrollably until you get off the cart. so basically unplayable if you want your followers to join you in the cart
It works fine in VR. There is a slight issue with sitting on the wagon placing you above it which also affects Touring Carriages (though TC has a patch to fix it), but it's difficult to control the cart in that mode anyway. If you ride your horse rather than the cart, it will completely work. There is a slight issue in that the cart only has followers board the cart if you are piloting the cart rather than the horse, but not a huge problem.
it would be awesome if a mod like this could be made, where you can assign a FOLLOWER to pull the cart. Maybe two followers to compensate for the weight. lol.
Anybody find a way to make this less "jittery"? It seems the camera is sort of attached to the wagon, so, the camera bounces around the same as the wagon does and starts to become annoying. Any ways around this? I'm already using Smoothcam. Unless there is some sort of setting in that where it will fix this.
I wish this mod was still being updated, there are 2 features i would love to see 1, the ability to make the horse follow you like a follower if you wanted the cart to follow along without actively riding. 2, the ability to tether yourself to the cart if you are in werewolf/bear/etc or vampire lord form.
Good news! At least for your first wish. It looks like using Simplest Horses (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/54225) you can order your horse to follow and wait, and from my testing it works with this mod.
Word of warning though, make sure the horse is in "follow" mode when hitching, unhitching, or getting on the cart. Seems if you try to tether/untether while the horse is in "wait" mode, the cart will turn it's physics on/off but the horse won't actually attach/detach, which causes some issues. If you forget, you can put the horse in "follow" mode and summon the cart, which appears to reset everything.
Getting on the cart while the horse is in "wait" mode means it won't move. You'll have to get off the cart, switch the horse to "follow", and get back on. Getting on the horse's back while tethered does not have this issue. In general, interacting with the cart while the horse is in "wait" mode will not work.
This will also render the "horse whistle" power nonfunctional, but that's fine since the "follow" command will basically do the same thing.
Also, when I tested this my horse lost the default saddle that came with it, but I spawned in another one and added it to the horse system inventory and that seemed to take care of it. Not sure which step caused the saddle to disappear, so can't say if it would happen again. I should also add that Simplest Horses also lets you access the horse inventory directly, but this is not the same inventory as the Cart "Horse Inventory" where you store saddles and the harness.
In addition, there is this mod to make the horse stay further back in follow mode (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/75845). The original distance didn't account for a big cart being attached to your horse, so this mod is helpful.

I use Be Seated so I'd expect if it's tagged as a seat, that should work too.

but I don''t like how the follower does not board the cart unless I ride the cart itself...but that causes my head to spin.
It'll be good if I can ride the horse and the followers will automatically enter the cart - but that doesn't seem like an option.
Did you find a way to fix the head spin glitch?
i;d have myself my own chaffeeur
I've just gotten the cart mod today but the NSPD mod seems to make it smoother :)
If I produce a horse in any other way by trying to tether to the cart, the horse disappears.
