Loki, since you still cannot make the AE version, I built both version for you here. New features include no magic friendly fire and an option to disable protection outside combat. The SE version is not thoroughly tested by me and I don't know if it will crash or not because there is a function that is changed from SE to AE transition so I need to use ASM patch for it.
I tested this version on SE and, so far, it works excellently. Shouts and spells of all kinds won't do a damn thing to non-hostile actors in combat, and out of combat with the setting to disable the mod I can still blow people up without issue, or they won't do anything like normal if I don't have that setting active. No crashes or instability of any kind, unless you count the 20 ice storms from 5 different NPCs dropping my FPS a touch.
Hey, it’s clever to add the “disable protection outside combat” option, but can you make a mod for the latest version? This file doesn’t work in the current version.
I'm in no state of making a DLL mod as of now due to my toolsets have not been updated to the latest version. You can use the NG version of this mod from this site. It can be used with the latest version. But it doesn't have the bug fix and magic bases protection like my version does. You can try making it yourself if you feel brave. There's a source code of my version on the top of this post.
Hi, i have the Special Edition, i think there is an incompatibility with Amazing Follower Tweaks . I press the key INS on the keyboard but don't works. How can i change the key? Where do I see the associated codes?
[SETTINGS] key=210 bProtectNeutralActor=true
I hurt my follower and AFT no longer works. I can't talk to my follower, open the menu... Ho can i help you? Papyrus log?
Tank You very mach! I bought the Special Edition a few years ago, but only now I realized it has upgraded to the Anniversary Edition (1.6.x). I was wrong to load the SKSE libraries.
The Problem is that most of us can not change midgame from AFT to another Follower Mod as it will brake to 100% the Save and the Ai. To the Button that disable Protection use a Cry if you want make someone Agro. For some reason this Mod even the option to protect neutral NPC i have off im not able to hit the Giants and animals in the fields as they count as Neutral only with a cry i can make them Agro and then kill them as the ins button dont work with AFT installed.
You can see the code of keyboard input here. And since this mod is using SimpleINI, you can put hex number into the INI directly without having to convert it to decimal number.
Note to new users: if you plan to join the Companions, turn this mod off. Vilkas seems to fit the mod's criteria even before he's available as a follower, so attacks ignore him during that introductory segment where he tells you to hit him. Might be the same case for other quests that require you to hit friendlies/followers (like the Boethiah quest, maybe?)
The toggle key is all well and good, but this really shouldn't be happening at all in the first place. In fact, this mod should also really only be active during combat anyway, since that's when you would presumably not want to aggro random NPCs.
It'd still be an "issue" (for Stendarr's sake just tap Insert) if you made a combat only version, given he's in combat with you. You'd need to make it exclusive for current followers only.
Just fyi, if any of you are using Ersh's Precision mod (only on Patreon atm), this mod sorta work but not 100% from my experience.
Followers won't take damage but can still get hit and react to hits due to Ersh's mod. If you're using a mod to make NPCs stagger more, this can be a bit annoying as followers won't be able to get any offence going if you're fighting the same enemy
If you disable Ersh's precision mode, then this works fine. Unfortunately, disabling Ersh's precision setting also disable the weapon trails, which is the main thing a lot of people use it for.
The fix will probably have to come from Ersh's side, but just a quick heads-up
The mod IS working, but for some reason every NPC's and guard are completely protected and not attack-able. I had the impression that only Followers were affected. Unless this is intented? I like the idea of Protected followers, but everyone other neutral NPC out there in the world... not so much.

"SKSE plugin to skip hit functions entirely if the target is friendly" So it seems it was intended. My bad for not reading. So i guess everything is working fine then.
It matters not if i modify it, it still happening. Not sure what i am doing wrong.
(Edit)
Actually. I'm a bit confused, since there is one in the Sticky above and another one in the Files Section. Not sure which one is the one i should be using.
Best friendly fire mod ever made. Cannot believe I am only now just endorsing this, for shame. Been using it and singing its praises throughout the all the Skyrim discords for what seems like forever now. This is the go to friendly fire mod for me, and its made playing with followers and dragon/vampire attacks turned on actually viable. Literal game changer. Wish more people knew about this, the impact it makes is so significant, I can't imagine playing Skyrim without this mod, its essential for me now.
Thank you the creator Loki and to Tossapon for the updated version. Once the updated version makes its way to main files, I can see every single modlist transitioning to this mod for all their friendly fire fixing needs.
Maybe then it will finally get the attention it deserves. I don't think my return to Skyrim would have lasted long had I not found this mod. Aggroing and accidentally killing friendlies was one of my most annoying grievances with the game for the looongest time. And this finally friggen fixed it yeesh.

Thank you so much for the work you've put in for people.
I put a toggle key in the mod ages ago.
If you read the description AT ALL you would have seen that.
Version 0.4
Use SPID to distribute perk to followers so they also don't deal friendly damage
I also have Forget in my LO.
[SETTINGS]

I was removing my 30th mod to test if it could come from it then i see your message
Indeed this mod breaks the companion quest :(
Sad because this mod is really good.
@LokiWasTaken can this bug be fixed?
Thanks a lot
