I have only ever seen these in inhabited areas and not in the wilds.
For me these don't sandbox right. They just walk back in forth outside of city gates or just stand there. They should be in the wilds and flee from people when they get too close. If you were to put them outside cities walking paces outside the gate along the road looks really bad. They would also look better if they were in small groups. I figure most people wanted these in game for immersion but they actually break immersion.
Just leaving these suggestions in case anyone ever decides to revamp these or make their own version.
Thank you, seems to work! Raccoon chills near Riverwood and Faendal is leaving him alone.
EDIT: okay, so after waiting a few minutes the raccoon still attacks Faendal. I disabled SkyTEST, Dynamic Animal Variants and Fluffworks. Still same result.
Nope. Still no luck. Does it work on your installation? You can easily check if you start a game and walk to Riverwood. The raccoon is always right before the "entry gate" and walks towards it. As soon as you are very close to Riverwood or inside, the raccoon attacks.
Okay, so after getting more familiar with patching I looked into this issue again and found the root cause of this behavior. The mod AI Overhaul adds hunter skills to Faendal and he attacks all animals that are "too close" to Riverwood. However, the raccoon is stronger than Faendal so he just loses the fight over and over again. Its super annoying so I made a patch for it and included it in my AI Overhaul patch collection.
Thank you for your support and sorry for any inconveniences.
Any chance for a hunterborn patch? I've been adding animals for my Khajiit assassin to hunt and would like to hunt these as well. Really great mod btw.
i love this mod so much.. my raccoon friend... he is so loyal and friendly... i wish I could name him... anyone who is smart know how I could achieve this? thank u I love u
lmao I totally forgot I'd installed this mod for a minute, so there I was trotting along a stream and all of a sudden "wtf is that a BEAVER!??" Spent about thirty seconds being abjectly flabbergasted before I remembered that yes, I had put that beaver there, that was a deliberate beaver. Very fun surprise, thanks! XD
For you who want smaller animals? Just open the console, click on the Raccoon or Beaver, Then type: setscale_0.7 or 0.8 and then hit Enter. You can change the size at any time. The _ is a space. I really wish that someone would make a Squirrel mod too. I have asked Mihail a couple of times to port his mod over from old Skyrim. He says yes and soon, but nothing happends. :- (
Thanks for the tip. But it wasn't any Squirrel companions I was looking for. I want wild Squirrels here and there dotted around Skyrim, as they really should have been in the fauna from the start.

Also found a beaver fighting a wolf (and killing it) after the riverwood bridge.

I would love to add otters to the game, but only neutral, ambient otters.
EDIT: Seems like v1.3 is only wild animals. Can you confirm? Was just wondering, because the ESP file still has the follower strings in it.
P.S. really enjoying the extra critters running around. Thank you for making this!
