Version 2.0 is finally here! It offers a bunch of new options to allow for up to 6 followers (no kids), 3 followers & 3 kids, or you can opt for neither of those and add an armory or furnish an empty room yourself. Hope you like it!
I already know that when you ask the kids to play a game they run off to the city. I suspect the issue is due to the house's proximity to the city. I have tried repeatedly to fix it, but I have failed....miserably. Just don't ask them to play a game unless you're out of milk or cheese wheels and need to go pick up a few groceries.?
I have to ask, is that food beside the oven respawnable? Because I want to take it all, but I'm always worried that I'll just be left with bare surfaces if I do that.
They don't wander there all of the time, but when they do, they are usually helpful. They've helped keep my butt from dying on an occasion or two when a band of bandits or vampires strolled thru the yard.
I don't use Bishop, so I can't say if it would clash with it or not. BUT....I can tell you exactly where it's located. If you are standing in front of the gate where the 2 guards are, on the right would be the stables. If you go left into the woods a few yards, you will come across the house. Right, stables. Left, house. It's so close that the kids often run back and forth between the house and town. I've even found Sofie in the Bee and Barb on occasion. lol
I can confirm Honeymoon Cottage from Bishop's Romance mod does NOT clash with The Aspen Retreat mod. In fact the two cottages are neighbors with plenty of space in between both cottages. I'm going to keep The Aspen Retreat mod so I can put Kaidan, Inigo, Lucien + adopt 3 kids later on. Have the gang hangout when my character lives with Bishop and Julian right next door. I'm going to Endorse The Aspen Retreat because I was hoping to find a bigger version to Honeymoon Cottage (Bishop's mod) wanting to adopt more kids however I couldn't find any. Kaidan's Autumnwatch has different options which is so cool as well. I really feel The Aspen Retreat would fit perfectly well alongside with Honeymoon Cottage. Thank You for making The Aspen Retreat.
This is probably coming too late, after a year, but make sure you have completed Kaidan, Lucien and Inigo's quests BEFORE you use MYIYH or NFF's home assignment feature on them.
They run on their own custom AI follower frameworks, all three, and have NO indigenous home assignment functions, none of the three. iniggo always returns to the Riften jail, or later, the cottage on the mountain with the Priest, Kaidan always returns to Inn in Falkreath, or Autumn Watch after his Romance, and Lucien also goes to Falkreath's Inn when dismissed, until his quest is completed, then he moves all the bloody way to Solsthheim.
None have the ability to live anywhere else, unless you use a third party mod on them, which will cause irreversible 'brain damage' to them, and ruin them for the rest of your game. It will eventually, potentially, introduce instabilities beyond them.... but definitely, in the short term, you will screw their custom AI framework packages, and they will not function properly thereafter.
I personally think home base allocation (along with summon spells, and map marker), from the get go (Inigo has the latter, but you have to 'earn' them) is basic QOL gameplay functionality for ANY follower mod, and said as much to the creators of all three (only to be ignored, told dont like it, dont use it, and muted, for Kaidan, Inigo and Lucien respectively), but they do not seem like they are in agreement, and there is zero likelihood of that being added even though all three are still active supported mods.
So you will always have that choice, accept their indigenous packages, and all the flaws in options, or use a mod to force them to do something, like live somewhere, but know it WILL break them, so best left, if you chose the latter, until you complete all three's quests, at least as far as they go (only Kaidan has complete one, Lucien's is left open to more, and Inigo has significant expansion coming..... eventually).
@Apis4 - Hi there, Actually you're NOT too late!! I knew about custom followers with his/her own AI and doing certain things CAN break them. Perhaps I should have reworded and said, "I do use NFF (just the basic settings, nothing technical like setting their home bases) and when I tell Kaidan, Lucien, Inigo to live at The Aspen Retreat as an example I use their "Resting or Waiting dialogue" and I pretend like the characters live there. I do appreciate you taking the time to explain everything. I hope your explanation will help clarify others who sees this as well.
OK, I do not think this home works very well... the configuration book in the master bedroom... really should TELL you, On OR Off... in relation to room set ups..... instead of having on/off.... because it does not really make things clear, a) which rooms are what and where and b) if they are on, or off.
I have floating wolf heads, intermeshed childrens beds with adult beds, I cant tell what I have enabled and what I do not, without constantly running downstairs... this could be a lovely home, though tbh it needs to be twice the size, internally, just for comfortable navigation, but the mess in my basement when I all I want is the four beds for the followers I am going to move in there,, is really bad design.
Not trying to be mean... I think this house is lovely.... but right now, it wound up unusable because navigating the set up of the different rooms is a nightmare, and I could not find a way to reset it to default.
It tells me check the manual, but I dont even know where it is.
Love the option to swap the space for either more family friendly or follower focus!! Was looking for a nice place for a few of my top followers and you just nailed that itch =) Thanks the amazing mod!
hm i saw some dude commenting on how he had problems with mobs and guards in his house with AE, does this happen to anyone else? This player home looks cool but i dont want fiesta in the house lmao
I've never had that problem.....well...i have had guards follow me into player homes, but never this one. i use SE, tho......if you're under attack or a guard is talking to you it *might* happen, but like i said, i've never had it happen in this house. the only one i can remember it happening to me with is breezehome.
Finally made it to the home....twice. Apparently for the update to take effect one must enable it...lol
I really like what you have done to the place!! This is a keeper for sure. As a guy I just started clicking on things which gave me odd stuff in the bedrooms. Then I went back and read the instructions...lol My followers are happy because they can sleep. I am happy because I don't find them curled up in a corner every time we stop.
Very nice & cozy home in the RIFT! But who's going to watch all the urchins while I'm out kicking Thalmor behinds? Is there a possibility of adding a side room in the basement for followers? Replace the storage shelf to the right of the fireplace with a door into a follower's room... I'd rather have my loyal friends sleeping on beds than throwing down bedrolls where I can find the floor space. I'll just throw a low wall around the main house for some added protection- those Riften Gate Guards can't be trusted... Thanks!
I got you covered on that....almost. im working on a plug in too that allows you to configure the basement to your liking. I'm using a menu system like i did in my meadows cottage that will allow you "hire" a handyman to do a little remodeling for you. Basically you'll be able to trade out some or all beds for followers and decorations. I'll hopefully have that finished in a day or two.
Great news! (And quick reply!) Sounds like a plan, can't wait to load it up and check it out. I enjoy the housing mods that let you pick between various designs (the Winking Skeever Loft comes to mind) so you can tailor the house to your character & RP'ing. Finally, a house worth owning by Riften. Thanks again!
Hopefully it will be out this weekend if i get time to work on it. I did it as a plug-in, but unfortunately that didn't work out as I had hoped. No matter how I scripted it, the bless home spell still saw 6 beds even if there were none. So it's coming out as a major update on the house instead. I'm posting a sticky on it describing the features.
That with the Guards, Soldiers etc. is probably a Mod, I do not know which since 1.6 Skyrim (AE) make very many Player Homes problems. From Monsters in the kitchen to 5-6 Guards in the Master Bedroom, is everything often happens only after multiple Days of play. Therefore, it may also be a Quest or the 4 CC content (Skyrim AE Update). That with the children also often happens with me either the children do nothing more and just stand in the Area, they run a piece turn around and that all the time. Depending on where the House is. I have tested your House and the Guards stood after I had adopted the first child (Lucia) in the Garden. (New Game after Helgon) But it is a very nice house. Like <3
On Solstheim I do not have these errors at all, seems to be only on the Skyrim map. If you feel like maybe build a house at the Dawnguard (Castle) Map. This small external place is very nice and I have houses there myself. But can never bring children into my House. For this, my English is just too bad.
