best mod ever don't forget that you should not auto install this like other mods. it's old mod otherwise would have been turned into fomod but it's not the case here. pick version of your choice, zip it then drag it to vortex to install the file
I "installed" this mod yesterday and it works perfectly fine. Scrolling through the comments i saw that people just need to read instructions correctly.
Ill put a easy to understand instruction here:
Download mod,
unpack it somewhere,
pick the esp file you want,
put it in the data folder of skyrim SE
open your mod-manager,
activate the esp/plugin in the plugin section of your mod-manager,
I did figure it out after going back and forth from the mod page, but I was worried when MO2 was telling me it wouldn't work. I ended up installing it via MO2, choosing the directory during installation that I wanted, right clicking the mod on the list and exploring the folder, copying the ESP to the Data folder of SkyrimVR, then enabling the ESP in MO2, then uninstalling the mod from the list with MO2.
I guess I would have preferred if the mod page said that "manual" install was partially required, then I would've paid more attention initially. But either way, thank you for confirming to me that I did the right thing.
Installed via manager like a noob and thought it worked but then I looked into my files and saw all the copies and then looked at the file preview and fixed it, now theres ALWAYS viking combat music. THANKS! endorsed
The mod doesn't work for me with my current mods. If I have a follower who engages an enemy, the music will start, but not if I'm alone. But it works perfectly well when I test it with the bare minimum mods like USSEP, LAL and USMP, so I can state that the mod works in SSE 1.6.640 ("AE"), at least the "never" version that I tested. There is clearly an incompatibility with another mod in my game, I'm still trying to find which one. SSEEdit doesn't find any conflict between this mod and the rest of my load order, so it's weird... Maybe it's an SKSE plugin or something
Edit : I got tired of figuring it out and abandoned Skyrim for a while. I just came back and decided to start my new playthrough with Toggleable Combat Music instead.
Unfortunatly, I was using this mod today and I noticed that even approaching some wolfs they would not attack me. Instead, they would just ignore me. After that, I disabled this mod in MO2 and it fixed. I did the installation as it was detailed in mod details and the comments here. Using AE version.
This is such a great mod to me for immersion reasons. It's sad that I breaks something but it more than compreensible since it was last updated in 2016.
If this mod "doesent work" for you its maybe because youre installing it via mod manager which (for me at least) will automatically install all of its esps, so the lowest threat level one will apply because its active. Not sure if theres supposed to be a fomod but i didnt get one so i ended up with all of them when installing through vortex. After some experimenting and frustration(the instructions are pretty confusing tbh) i found out what worked for my game... Just download manually and drag the individual esp you want into your data folder and the appropriate triggers will apply! It worked for me anyway so hopefully itll work for you too :)
EDIT: set the esp you select as a late loader ("dynamic patches" is my preference) so it wont be overridden by other mods that may mess with the triggers ie. Other music mods/quests/npcs/monsters etc. As a bonus this little "trick" can work for alot of other mods to get around LOOT's limitations ;) happy dragon hunting!
I use MO2 as a mod manager and the mod does not work for me my character is level 250 (thanks to cheats) and the mod has never worked for me however the esp of the mod is positioned last I have saw your message which gave me hope in the possibility of reactivating the combat music on my character suddenly I would like to know if you could help me and I did not understand what you mean by "dynamic patches" is what ??
Can confirm that this works, used the setting of 500 and spawned in some mudcrabs (as lvl 81 character with max. armor rating). Some of them did really trigger the combat music (crabs were lvls 1-20 max), so, yes, it works. The problem, by what Im guessing that ppl have is: they dont know how to install it. Simply put, open the downloaded file and browse the folders until you want the chosen one, inside is .esp file that needs to be in correct place, otherwise you can complain all you want, that it doesnt work, it doesnt work, because you fail at installing it. It DOES work. Also, fair advice: you can turn this .esp into a pseudo ESL, saving up mod space.

Can be easily ESPE-fied.
