2/23/2022 Use Those Horses now includes shields! Did my best with placement but will still clip with crossbow and sword. There is A LOT of stuff on these horses now so I left the shields as an "Optional File". Be sure to merge the "Use Those Horses [Shields]" preset with the rest of your horse displays.
Immersive Equipment Displays version 1.3.2 or later is a REQUIREMENT or you'll have all the eggs on your face. A HUGE thank you to slavicpotato1 who helped me in the implementation of the shields on horses by adding a feature tailored for this mod.
One quick note for use with Hunterborn: If your horse dies, make sure you choose Manual Loot when you click on the carcass. This way, you'll be able to pull all your stuff that you put into its inventory.
If you fail to do this, and hit Field Dress by mistake, you will lose everything! (You can get it all back by reloading a previous save in which your horse is alive, but unless you're obsessed with manually saving every few minutes, you may set yourself backwards quite a bit.)
Thank you for this mod! Just one question: should I still load the horse preset from Simple Hunting Overhaul and merge it with the presets from this mod? Or is that redundant? Thanks in advance :)
Hey, I know that's not really what a mod author wants to hear and this mod is really well done, but how do I uninstall it? Whatever I do, my horse still has the equipment - no matter if I apply another preset, disable all placements, disable the mod etc.
Anyone else with a bug where any animal hide appear floating at bottom of the Horse model? Like, xyz 0 or something? I can't find anything on the menus, turning invisible doesn't change anything in any of the weapons, how am I supposed to customize the equipement position for horses? Shouldn't be the positioning menu?
so with the hides it's showing two models. one i can move. place and change location on horse normally. but then there's an exact copy of that same pelt that stays underneath the horse. i tried different settings. making it invisible etc. but it only effects the hide model that's actually working. the other just stays static and isn't effected by the mod at all
is there a possibility there's conflicts with carry those carcasses horse preset? also possibly IED repositioner and a parsing issues
You can remove "pelts" in IED config menu in game. while hides and pelts won't be displayed at all in this way, at least it doesn't bother my eye anymore:)
I've been trying for the last 18+ hours to figure out a weird bug. I don't think it's caused by this mod, but I've tried removing every horse related mod I have and still can't find a solution... Any items added to horse inventory that can be equipped automatically equip... to the horse... So if I put a sword in its inventory, suddenly a sword is showing at it's x,y,z 0,0,0 location, directly underneath it. Has anyone else had an issue like this?
Could you in IED turn off equipment display on the player character so that equipment only appears on NPCs and horses? If playing in VR , I don’t think equipment display on the player would make sense or even function correctly.

I am a little overhelmed by IED and adding new stuff. There are a few new weapons that are being displayed on my character without issues, but they are not shown on my horse. What am I supposed to do?

Found it through experimenting. In case anyone else needs to know: enter IDE-menu, navigate to the race tab, select Horserace and search for the type of weapon you want to add, for example a Greatsword. Click on Additional item, click on the small arrow and select add one. Lastly, click browse and type in the Form ID or Name of the weapon. Enter. Then you need to click on select and thats it. Works like a charm.

The preset is not showing up at the IED menu :(
