Hi, I don't use the mod these textures are from, I don't even play Skyrim at the moment. But I was wondering what caused these artifacts and how you fixed them, because I noticed the file size of the textures, which was a sign that you removed the mipmaps. That is not a good idea because it can lead to flickering.
I downloaded the textures and noticed that their alpha masks are not clean, there is some kind of grid in the "transparent" areas that appears as dark grey if the alpha channel is converted to grayscale. The game uses alpha testing on these textures, that means pixels below a certain transparency threshold are not rendered at all, and those above it are rendered opaque. Apparently the mipmaps contain pixels above this threshold in certain areas that are supposed to be transparent. The "correct" solution would be to fix the alpha masks so all areas that are supposed to be transparent have 0 Opacity (or very low, as some exporters don't preserve color information in 0 Opacity areas) and then generate new mipmaps.
This is irrelevant because the nifs use 2 bit alpha with testing.
You don't play with the mod, but I do, and the noise is not noticeable compared to the mipmap artifacts. Besides, this is already noted in the mod description. If people have a problem with it, they can avoid downloading

Before I use this, I'm tracking this in case you find any more graphical errors and upload any more fixes.
