ABOUT

What does this mod even do?
This mod changes the names of the Fists of Randagulf and Ice Blade of the Monarch from 'The Contest' Creation and altered any text items. These relics are now called 'Grenwulf's Gauntlets' and 'Fimbulwinter' respectively.
I also fixed a small bug where the Gauntlets tempering recipe pointed to the wrong item.

Why?
Because there are mods that execute the fantasy of the Ice Blade and Fists of Randagulf better than 'The Contest' does, and I want to let players who want to use both the Creation and those mods together be able to without ruining their immersion.

Do you not like CC content that much?
Not exactly. I actually quite like some of the content that comes from the CC (Alternative Armours and Rare Curios are pretty good if you want to try them out) and some of the models and quests (though often short) they use are quite nice, but compared to some mods, some of the fantasy executions are... lacking. Here I wanted to try and allow the use mods that execute the fantasy of the legendary relics that 'The Contest' brings in, with Bethesda's execution of the quest and the models that they use.

Are there any requirements?
You will need 'The Contest' CC content to use this mod... obviously.

INSTALLATION

How do I install it?

Download the file and install it using your mod manager of choice. If you're a madman and want to install it right into your directory manually, go for it. I won't judge.

But the .esp takes a load slot!
Don't worry. The file is ESP-FE friendly, and won't take up a 'big' slot in your load order. If for some reason it doesn't flag immediately as a light file, then you can do it through Wrye Bash or Vortex.

Is this compatible with x mod?
Actually yes. This changes no references, only names and in-game text. I foresee no compatibility issues, but if you want the changes to stick, then try and load this below any files that alter 'The Contest'

Can I install this mid-game?
NO!
You should NEVER install mods mid-game. When the game starts (by hitting 'New' from the Main Menu) the game loads all the active files and FormIDs up - and all references that use them. Messing with the load order AT ALL messes with those references and WILL cause damage to your game!
I will not support anyone who installs this or any other mod mid-game for any issues that arise with this mod.

But I just-
NO!

OTHER QUESTIONS/SUPPORT

I found a bug!
I don't foresee this mod having any problems or issues, but if you do find one then please leave a comment telling me what happened and I'll get to it. To help me out, try and explain what was happening before the bug happened, and what the bug caused to happen.

Why won't you help me with my bug?!
In general, there are a few bad practices that players do that would cause problems down the line. I won't help anyone who does the following:
  • Console the items into their inventory (You shouldn't have to do this anyway, they should be easy to find. Besides, blatant console usage can and will cause problems down the line)
  • Installed this or any mod mid-game (See above for why)

What if it's a compatibility issue?
No - this only changes the names of the relics, and slightly alters a book and tempering recipe. However, if you do come across a compatibility issue then let me know WHICH mod is struggling with it and I'll see what I can do.

Can I put this in a collection?
Please ask me first before you put this mod into a collection or compendium. I'm likely to say yes, but it's just a little courtesy.

I got this mod from a collection/compendium and it doesn't work!
Then please take this up with whoever curated the collection/compendium. I'm not being mean about it, they probably know more about the mods they use than I do, and they're more likely to be able to resolve it.

Can I make a compatibility/bugfix/improvement mod for this?
Check the Permissions tab. Again, I'm likely to say yes, but please ask me first before you do.

So why were those two arguing again?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
