Requiem - The Roleplaying Overhaul v5.0.0
================================================
When you think sneaky assassin, you think daggers. Or at least I do. But conjuring a bound dagger is LOUD. Same with bows. What if you want to be sneaky? Just NOT USE bound weapons at all? That's dumb. So I fixed it (mostly).
So first off, I've had a long day. Been super productive. And now I'm tired, and it's too late to play anything. But I did have time to finish something I'd been contemplating. I'm 99% sure it will work as advertised, and if it doesn't it will mostly work (okay...95% sure). The Skyrim engine is weird. You can flag spells to be silent, and they'll be mostly, but not completely silent. The only way to do that is with perks. I actually kind of like this, and used it for some variance in how I implemented the mod. So now Bound Bow is mostly silent, and if you're on the other side of a large room, enemies won't hear you. If you're closer, they'll become suspicious but you won't be instantly spotted. Bound Dagger, on the other hand, should now be entirely, completely silent. As in you should be able to crouch behind someone and cast it without them noticing (though there are other mechanics at play such as spell-casting light that can also trigger awareness, FYI).
So with this mod, sniping from a close-ish distance, you can cast Bound Bow without being detected. Absent line of sight or spell-casting light considerations, you can now cast Bound Dagger right next to an enemy without being spotted. This may be unbalanced/broken. Haven't playtested at all, but I think it will just add more gameplay options for people. If you think it should be tweaked let me know.
Addendum: Forgot to add - magic effects create sound. Spells don't. So you might have 1 magic effect that is silent, but if your spell also has a 2nd magic effect that is loud...well, that makes it loud (logic!).
So I also made all spell effects of both types (pre- and post-perk versions of bound weapons) silent. That way you don't have a super-sneaky, (mostly) silently summoned bow that shoots arrows whose magic effects scream obnoxiously into the ears of your enemies, thus giving you away.
That may further unbalance things, since you can now essentially "silently" banish/soultrap enemies. But otherwise they're no fun. Defeats the point of a silently summoned weapon if every arrow you fire is stupid loud. May reconsider this in the future, but be aware in case you find that unbalanced.
Addendum Secundus: Oops. Didn't realize MO2 hates dashes. I mean, seriously? Why? But it does. Hates their guts. Until I edited this mod, I had no idea it would change the filename to just "Requiem". Probably irritated a few of you. I'll have to change that at some point for all my mods.
Anywho, had a bit of time to play today, and realized I wanted a (mostly) silent way to ignite/extinguish lights, without always resorting to SneakTools arrows. So I made quiet version of apprentice level concentration spells for all three elements. Shouldn't be unbalancing, as they're concentration spells and you'll cause alert status before managing to kill anything with them. But now they're good for very brief use to manipulate lighting without instantly giving you away. (Reason for including Lightning Sparks is because it is used to ignite Dwemer lights in Dynamic Immersive Seriously Dark Dungeons).
I could just make a new set of spells specifically for this purpose that are completely silent and cause virtually no damage, but that's just more clutter in the spellbook. Not to mention I don't see how they'd realistically be completely silent anyway. I think this is a good balance.
(What This Mod Does)
Main Version
Silent Bound Weapons:
- Bound Bow is (almost) completely silent. You can now cast it much, much closer to enemies without being detected. Arrows and their magic effects are also (mostly) silent.
- Bound Dagger is completely silent. You can now cast it right next to enemies without being detected.
Alternate Version
Silent Bound Weapons Plus:
- Includes all Bound Bow & Bound Dagger changes in the Main Version.
- Firesparks, Frostbite & Lightning Sparks are all (mostly) silent. So for very brief use, they can ignite/extinguish light sources without instantly giving you away. Obviously requires SneakTools to actually manipulate lights.
Other bound weapons were left unchanged. Don't see a need for a sneaky battleaxe (lolz) or sword. If people really want a quieter bound sword, I may consider it in a later version.
