They look amazing! I'm curious if this is compatible with the new Majestic Mountain update? for some reason the new update breaks the rock01.nif textures on some mountain texture mods.
I don't use Majestic Mountains, but you can try it, load this after Majestic Mountains to overwrite, it's just a texture so you can easily uninstall it later if you don't like it.
<3 These mountains are GORGEOUS! I'm using the rough version, and they're honestly my favorite mountain texture I've ever used. Hopefully this mod gets more attention soon, cannot recommend it enough.
Just uploaded a new, rough version, that has rougher normalmap, which makes it look more mountain-like from distance. It will look the same from close up.
Just as constructive criticism. The textures are beautiful, though are more suited towards areas near rivers. They are too smooth for actual mountains. They haven't had the time yet to be eroded and smoothed by water. To give an example google search the following: Mountain textures real photos and view the image search result list. You aren't going to find many mountain photos that are smooth. But as a texture for rocks and such, this would be great!
You're right, they do look a bit odd for mountains, but i quite like them anyway. Almost calming, the way snow gradually transitions on them, and their pattern. I actually tried some different normal maps, which makes them much more rough, like many other mountain mods look, but i liked this one the most. I may upload some other versions in the future.
The one thing i've learned, if you (as the mod author) like it...then roll with it. When i hosted my mods here on nexus, they all contained a disclaimer that said "I make mods for my own personal taste, but release them for those that would like to use them" Merry Christmas to you as well! I may use your textures (for personal use) in my own game and use them to overwrite some rock files :) Because i really do think they look awesome as a worn down eroded texture. Just need some time to figure out what all i'll replace with them. I'll send you a PM in a couple weeks with what i changed and how i edited the texture/uv map to conform. You'd be welcome to use them however you see fit, no credit needed.
