I got permission from hawkbar to upload this. Once I figure out how everything works I’ll post a guide or something. I'll be updating this reddit post as I test a few configs. Feel free to discuss any limitations, what can/cannot be changed, and any control schemes you like in the comments below.
Hey, how do I make sure the new control map is recognized? For whatever reason my custom controls are not working when pasted in my game folder as controlmap.txt
I'm still figuring out how to use it. The problem with skyrim is that certain keybinds are hard coded to each other. I'm doing my best to figure out what I actually can change in the file and what effects it has. I'll post a guide soon of everything I've found out and hopefully other people can verify my info is correct.
as far as changing from mouse movement to keyboard keys, you could try doing "Any of" and add in the four keys you want to control the mouse with. idk if that will work at all though. I tried to change the journal tabswitch triggers into left+right bumper and that didn't work for me as it seems they are hard coded (or there are no scan codes for analog input?). so far it's all trial and error.
rudimentary note system I came up with:
to do disable dpad up+down favorite menu activation (yes) replace left+right bumper tab switching with dpad left+right in skyui favorite menu (hard coded) replace trigger left+right menu tab switching with dpad left+right in journal menu (hard coded) enable map searching with R3 stick (?)
I'm really close to coming up with a control scheme I like with certain combination of mods and steam input. I like it a lot better than gamepad++ imo, but that's just me.

edit: fixed it, it was the nested zip file that was triggering a false positive.
