Hello i don't have the game on steam (unfortunately i can't buy it). I have version 1.6.323 so i am using the patcher named by "1.6.323-1.5.97". On the path i select the route to SKSE.exe but i get the error message "it doesn't match the expected format.
How can i fix it?. I await for your answer, thank you very much in advance.
Hello, I just bought the game a few days ago with the game version 1.6.640 and some mods from the creation club and I was watching videos where they say that it is better to downgrade it to play it with mods so I downloaded the small version of the downgrade patch from skyrim to avoid losing the cc content but when I try to do so it tells me that the SkyrimSE.exe file does not match the expected format. Please, if anyone has a solution that can help me, check the game files with Steam 4 times.
That FAQ is.. itneresting. Guess someone forgot GOG exists with that final question, they could of at least stated this isn't needed for GOG instead of trying and failing to 1UP pirates.
Ironic that pirated games now and days often run better then the official bought ones tho, isn't it? DRM is cancer to games. Not to mention forced updates on steam. I hadn't played skyrim in quite some time and came back to AE and pure annoyance when trying to recreate a old SE modlist. Took a week oof
Simply put: Piracy hate is a thing of the past, most companies it's actually morally correct to pirate like EA. Oh, and it's a proven myth that piracy loses sales. Documented sales numbers and everything. They only claim that because your going to another third party source and not paying for a sale you never were in the first place let alone that most DRM free version run better without DRM caused issues for pirated copies. Piracy in modern games seems to be the best experience until companies get rid of DRM, specifically denovu which causes large performance drops. Even some older games like Sim Cities which you needed a internet connection to even play. Yet.. EA has lost zero profits from piracy and it's the most pirated company due to how no one likes their shady or questionable behavior. Interesting how strange that is hmm?
Do I pirate? No, I just don't play games that are obviously trash anyways and stick to older ones or my collection of pokemon games instead of wasting the effort. But I applaud the ones that do since they're fighting the good fight against scummy game companies by not paying them. Only way to force change on that front, don't pay them and vote with your wallet. Unfortunately.. bethesda has become one of them in recent years, a slow descent starting with horse armor which makes me sad. And wouldn't you know it, people pirating their games skyrocketed in the last few years. To no effect despite peoples claims.
Get off your high horse and stop living in the past. I guarantee you pirated a game before. Most have by now with how bad video game practices have gotten on the AAA side of things. You attacking pirates does nothing but make you look like a ignorant fool who don't know what their talking about and it's hilarious. Indie games are the bomb currently. Yet some AAA companies are known to kill popular indie games if they see legit competition. Where is your profit gods now?

I upgraded from SSE to AE to get the free DLC content like fishing plus 1-2 of the AE DLC.
Installed/downloaded AE from Steam. Also installed CK from Steam
Also installed MO2 and then copied my pre AE mods into MO2's mod folder. Game launches and initializes the entire 254 mod deck correctly through MO2. However 2 issues:
Then installed the Full Patcher version to down grade AE and get game back to SSE version 1.5.97.
After downgrading process complete, noticed the version number for the SkyrimSE.exe was 1.6.640, Compared to CK which was in the game folder at version 1.5.97 (which is the last version for SSE before AE update). So downgrader patch apparently downgraded everything correctly except the game's .exes?
Loaded the game through MO2. Have LAL so game loaded normally into the LAL starter prison cell. Everything loads correctly except my PC. Character is frozen (not in the dreaded T pose) but acts as though they're in a T pose from sliding vs. walking/running around normally.
SKSE version isn't the issue, since game loads the other skse dependent mods (LOTD etc etc) without issue. Also installed the 1.5.97 version of SKSE. So freezing must be associated with the FNIS mod. To avoid this freezing, need to run FNIS before starting a new save. But now doing this doesn't work.
Guessing root cause of FNIS freezing PC is because of the different versions between SkyrimSE.exe (which seems to be latest AE version) v. the 1.5.97 version that the patcher downgraded everything else to in the game folder.
TL DR:
Appears to be a version discrepancy between SkyrimSE.exe and all other mods/mod utilities like CK, SKSE, FNIS etc. etc. in my game folder. Ran the Full Patcher version but the SkyrimSE.exe wasn't updated. Can the download patcher be re-run using the Best of Both patcher option without harm? i.e. negatively impacting the previously downgraded files/utilities in the game's folder? Or do I have to redownload/reinstall everything from scratch?
Can I rerun the patcher without any harm to existing files that have been downgraded? Or alternatively, can you just run the downgrade patcher version of this mod?
I have rebuilt my PC and am now having difficulty getting my modded game to run again, even though I haven't reinstalled it (same SSD drive, same data). Using this mod is part of my attempt to ressurect my old game - I have well over 1500 hours invested in various characters and ideally do not want to have to start over!
Having just read the instructions on how to use this downgrade patcher, it seems to suggest that all mods should be removed from the data folder before proceeding (and then presumably put back after patching). Is this the case?
are the mods installed manually? do you have MO2? are mods installed on MO2? heres what i would recommend you do.
1.) copy and paste any mods that were installed manually (in the games base directory {were the games EXE files are at} on top on any other files that are not part of the vanilla game and put them in a back up folder on you desktop
2.) you could make a whole other copy of the game folder ( like another skyrim install ) and mess around with the original and test it out
3.) if you have most if not all your mods on a mod manager like MO2 or Vortex then messs around with 1.)
4.) do a fresh install of the game [ don't worry saves are put somewhere else that's not the steam apps Game folder ] but also do 2.)
all of this is what i have done or would do when doing a new install, mods list and downgrade

I understand you not wanting to get the game through ''honorable'' ways, but come on, you'd be in for a treat ;)
