Those cows gave me nightmares, I felt so much pity for them, I could not look at them anymore. I would prefer not having them in the game at all over what I saw before me.. but not anymore..
Pack it up boys, it's over. This is the peak of modding. We've had Nexus Waifus of all shapes and sizes, Dark Souls Fast Twitch Combat Overhaul 2021, Expansion-sized quest mods, Perk Overhauls of all flavors.... but we've never had anyone fix the cows.

You may not be aware, but Rally has "2" Cow mods. The one you're referring to, does use its own mesh and as you say, would be incompatible. However, "Rally's Highland Cows" is a different mod and only contains textures to replace the vanilla textures. Given that, I assume it should work with this "Highland Cows More Wooly Fluff Restored" mod.

Rally's Shaggy Cows of Skyrim (if that's what you're referring to) needs its own mesh to work.
