I am reading every post, and I made a list of things to fix / improve in case I rework this mod.

The mod is safe to install mid-game.

The marriage mod is a separate one and entirely optional. You can start it after you complete Teldryn Serious. Get it here: A Serious Wedding

And hey, even if I don't reply to each and every one of you: thank you so much for the love and the feedback reports! You're all amazing!

So I'm playing through this mod as part of Gate to Sovngarde, I'm absolutely adoring it and it's getting me thinking about the things I'd like to write involving Teldryn and my silly guy, big inspiration. One thing though -- I'm at the point of the quest where you go into the cellar at Free-Winter Farm, yet the ghost child isn't appearing. I've exhausted everything, including grabbing literally everything in the old collapsed tower. Using the "unlock" command on the trapdoor doesn't help -- is there something I'm missing or is my game bugging?

Did you try reloading a previous save?

I need help, I investigate the Free-winter tomb but the quest wouldn't progress. Does anyone know how to fix it.

Not the guy you asked, and given that this post is almost a year old now its probably not relevant to you anymore, but I'll post this for anyone else who needs help on this.

Further down the comment threads on this mod page I found that the Quest ID for 'A Matter of Trust' is "tsrquest", and I typed the command "getstage tsrquest" which then gave me the quests current stage number, which for this issue it should be 135. Then I typed (setstage tsrquest 136) and that fixed the objective to now report to Geldis.

The idea behind the mod is brilliant. I mean, I love Teldryn and I am always glad to find some mods that expand on his character (or mods that expand on other follower characters in general). However, although the work that went into this is straight admirable, there seem to be some major issues with this mod.

I'll try to keep this as short as possible; First off, we have the difficulty setting. This a very common trend among these fan-made quests and unfortunately, this one didn't avoid it either. It can be very frustrating sometimes considering some of the enemies in the later stages of the mod will be absolutely overpowered damage-wise. I don't remember them being too tanky though, thankfully. This needs a bit of a tweak.

Another issue is the length of the quest overall. I don't have anything against long quests, but due to the difficulty, the constant jumping between Skyrim and Solstheim locations and also some annoying parts like the one on the ship or the one in that... strange realm of the dead or whatever that was... It kind of overstays its welcome and I wish that a handful of these parts were either cut or completely remade, so the experience could be more enjoyable and less of a slog.

And lastly, yes, I did notice some mistakes in the writing as well, but as a fellow person whose first language ain't English, I can understand the struggle too well.

Anyways, by all this, I am not trying to say by any means that "This mod sucks and you shouldn't play it". No, I am not saying that. What I am saying is that if you want to play it, you have to expect some troubles with this but it doesn't mean the overall experience will be bad. Quite the opposite when you realise that this whole quest is about Teldryn and explaining some of his background.

Does it need a bit of a remake? Yes. But is it worth the try? Also yes, if you like Teldryn just like me.

What this guy said, it’s a bit long but overall with the patch that’s on nexus it’s pretty good, for some reason I thought (SPOILER) that the sea tiger would be ours as a player home after because it’s so well designed and literally has a crew in need of a new captain and then…Neolth happened

Hey, sorry for the silly question but what level am I supposed to be for "A Refugee's Memories" specifically to clear the Refugee's Graveyard? I'm currently level 23 and I'm getting destroyed by the vampire

I use Smart Harvest and I forgot to set the doors option so somewhere I've looted something which has placed 'a matter of trust' in my journal with the instructions to return to geldis as teldryn is innocent.  since i've never started the quest and never met teldryn this is clearly not right.  is this recoverable or is this just stuck in my journal to the end of my playthrough?  I went to windhelm docks to look for the note that in walk-through video #1 but it and the lamppost are not there.

Hello! I've actually finished the quest years ago, but on my most recent playthrough I seem to be stuck! I'm at the stage where (SPOILER) I need to go to Windhelm. But when I find the cellar door and get the key from the ghost, it allows me to unlock the cellar door. But I can't go down! Interacting with the door does nothing. Is there something I should do?

Damn I'm so happy to hear this!
I was inspired by Kris Takahashi's "Interesting NPCs" to make this, and I have a lot of respect for that author - so reading this just made my day. Thank you! Happy modding!

So I know this hasn't been updated since 2017 but I've been playing through it, and feel the need to leave a sort of review for it, just in case anyone else comes along and wants to give it a go.

First off I will say you need to be quite a high level to play through this quest. The first couple steps aren't too hard, but once you get into it, there are bandits that can oneshot you, even at level 20. (Though perhaps my archery overhaul mod isn't playing nice with this one and making it ridiculously difficult?) Even when moved down to novice difficulty in a moment of annoyance and desperation, I am still getting killed by a single arrow even though I was at full health. So keep that in mind.

Secondly, the quest is a smidge confusing. Due to the choppy dialogue, the quest feels very disjointed. There were a lot times where I wasn't sure why I was being sent to a certain location. It wasn't until I was already halfway through the quest that I figured out what was supposed to be going on and even then I was still confused. There is a lot of dialogue that just doesn't quite make sense or seem like a logical response to the question that was asked. And due to the use of various voice lines, character's emotions are all over the place. One minute they sound annoyed and the next they're happy. But! I know it's very hard to piece together a fully voiced quest, so I will say that despite it's flaws, I am still impressed by the amount of work this must've taken.

And lastly, some word usage in the notes is very immersion breaking. Specifically in one letter that uses the word C**t. There are plenty of insults a Nord can use within the world of the Elder Scrolls and that has never been one of them. But perhaps that's more of a personal gripe.

It works fairly well, despite being quite confusing. Did have to look up a walkthrough for the boat section.

Very fair points. I'm not proud of that either, I was still learning english back then, but it's no excuse. This is one of the main reasons why it needs a big overhaul. Thanks for the review! I hope you had fun despite the flaws.

These are my thoughts exactly, and I came here to write almost the same feedback. Especially the inconsistencies with the dialog and dialog choices, disjointed storytelling, etc. And the c**t addition almost made me quit the mod as it was very jarring and immersion breaking... but the story is very interesting so far, so I don't want to quit just yet. I do think such a beloved mod could benefit from some TLC and a dialog overhaul, which would make it one of the better content additions to the game.

God, I love this mod so much. The only thing is that I've scrolled through almost all of the posts and I haven't seen one that has the same issue as me-- In the quest "A Matter Of Trust" at the part where you rescue Teldryn from the boat, when I go to the area he's supposed to be kept at he's just not there. Nobody is. It's driving me insane because Teldryn is my absolute favorite and I really want him back as a follower, so any advice is appreciated. Thank you for all your hard work!!

Wonderful, I love what you did with the dialogues! The one after leaving Broken Oar Grotto made me so much laugh, as it reminded me of a certain someone you lent the voice from. :)
