you are right on those 2 mods, by the way i don´t use them (not interested ), I remember now also mods changing the horse meshes and behaviours - it´s again a matter of attention, these issues are well known and you have to choose about using those mods with a workaround (alternative starts and similar) or simply skip them. Many users experience bugs with the opening scene because of other reasons, often mod conflicts
I agree with this. I previously had the cart problem. Immersive armors was one of the causes and I stopped using it. Horse mods also contributed. I was just wondering why I wasn't having to disable some mods recently, during the beginning. Then you pointed me to a mod I already have and didn't realize it had the cart fix!
Now my biggest issue is getting from the chopping block to the interior of Helgen Keep. Sometimes my character just gets stuck in one place and the camera bobs back and forth in first person. Argh!!!! Why do I love this game?
I've long since gone to alternate start - with around 1050 plugins, I am not going to sort around with them to go through the opening scene one more time. The last time I tried, it actually was quite amusing - mods that dramatically increase the bandit/monster etc population were already active and the other wagons were ambushed, all the other guards and captives wiped out - just us left - and then our driver decided to take a detour up a rock face.
I decided to do a vanilla start after a long time for my current game with 907 mods/578 plugins installed and the ride was completely smooth, only thing to do is NOT install mods which run any scripts on first initialization like Immersive Armors and the second important thing is not to setup your MCM till the cart ride finishes. For those who can't live without Immersive Armors, they can use Realm of Lorkhan Alternate Start or a similar mod, or else they can simple edit the IA plugins to remove all levelled lists entries (ofc this requires a bit of experience with sseedit) . The armors can be obtained with Additemmenu or if you wish to see them on npcs then use a tool like Automated Leveled List Addition https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/25395 or create a custom Spell Perk Item Distribution mod ini file.
@Atardecer Immersive Armors initializes during the cart ride itself, thereby destroying it . Also I have observed that even if you change some MCM values which take time to initialize then the ride can still get buggy. Btw I have read that Bethesda had too much headache when setting up this scripted sequence and the reason was a stray 'Bee' in the route hahah .
I think he means that IA initializes in the prison cell when using LAL, which it does, thereby making the cart ride work correctly if you let it finish.
That's typically what I do when I wish to use the vanilla start with the cart ride. Wait for Immersive Armors to finish in the LAL prison, then talk to Mara Statue and choose the vanilla start. Works 100% of the time for me.
My fix from like as far back as 2016 when i first started encountering the problem was keep a save immediately after getting off the cart but before the character customization menu. Every time I started a new game, i just load that save. Its easier than just dealing with the intro altogether.

Just running it once is enough to stop operation space carriage.

@Simon73 It has nothing to do with care, some mods just destroys the intro, Immersive Armors and SOS (yes the real one:) are known to do that !
