Can you give an update on this? It's an amazing mod-location.
Chanterelle is great but needs a "large hub" like this for the players to go to in the world- sort of a reward location for all the time spent in the wilderness before going back out. (The multiple empty towns and tiny hamlets with a few base grunting npc's I found aren't it) As is there is no point in collecting anything as there's really nothing to buy or work for in Chanterelle: besides the fun of pure survival & wandering around. With a few real inhabitable locations (ie. Ivarstead sized) & fleshed out NPC's it would expand the playability into Skyrim style & beyond a pure survival world.
(Note- {I began a new character & entered at ship wreck at 1st level} I've now spent a month in-game wandering in Chant & HotMK (with no map or compass) and stumbled upon just 1 tiny place with a merchant (who had no money & nothing worth buying anyway)...
I just "found" Ruclonburg, which is empty so ...(where I've paused my playthrough). Hoping this is progressing, would really up Chanterelle's value & replay!
Chanterelle is really nice as well, it's fps heavy on my PC, but it's also really good, originally i had thought there wouldn't be much of a story, but when i found the birds nests and the notes within some of the dwellings that really made the world you created feel real.
i still haven't seen everything and i doubt i will, but from what i have seen, it's an amazing landscape, i do wish there were more NPC people like hunters and such, but it's got plenty of wildlife.
i do have one not so important question, i noticed that the butterflies and the other bugs tend to repopulate within a few hours of picking them off per area i have been, do they repopulate or do they have some kind of migrating script where they move from one area to another? the world feels very alive.
Butterflies/critters are set to respawn quickly, to keep areas vivid and populated. Animals and critters are the only things giving a "sense of life" in video games, this is why the critters spawns are modified. To have between 10/20 bugs at a time instead of 5/10. You can use a mod to shorten the respawn of the cells, from 30 days to 3 days - to have plenty of animals everywhere, and sometime hunters. The downside of all those animals and vegetation is the fps, and I choose to keep this downside to have the best visual I could.
i just discovered this city for the first time while playing your main mod, and oh my god what an amazing piece of art it was just walking through the streets and seeing the massive amount of intricacy's in every part of the city, in many ways the city reminds me of how the cities are structured within the thief games, even if your only using vanilla assets, i could see this city working much like a thief game location.
i'm just imagining guards walking the streets while a thief is just spotted and then he gives chase for the guards in the city, with so many directions you really could taunt the guards with how much versatile and unique design there is in this city, when i was within the city i had to pretend i was being chased by the city guards and taking advantage of every nook and corner that i could find to hide or use to misdirect the guards to move passed them.
i was jumping from rooftop to rooftop to stairways and jumping in locations that would be hard for a guard to get to, it kind of also reminded me of dying light using parkour in every direction i could think of, of course skyrim is nowhere near as flexible as there is no real parkour mechanic, but it was engaging enough that i could have more than a few escape routes in every direction.
i also had another look at the city from the perspective of realistic design, and this city looks amazing and it's probably the best looking city i have ever seen in any skyrim mod as there is so much variety, i realize the city isn't done and it's a work in progress, but damn man, this is a master piece and a work of art that i wish to see more of.
It is. The Chanterelle World include now Ruclonburg and Hall of the Mountain King. It's a slow work, and priority is now on the navmeshes of Hall of the Mountain King.
