And for those concerned about it taking up a slot in the load order, there is this, from xEdit:
"Guard Shields are Light Armor.espCan be turned into ESL by adding ESL flag in [...] header"
No compacting of FormIDs needed, so just set the flag to .esl, and you are good to go!
