These look terrific. Your description says, "I have also uploaded a version where the gloves have adjusted stats." The fact that that version appears to be only LE is not my main concern at this time, as follows...
The reason these grabbed my attention is that I am playing a sneak thief. As such, the penalty for lock picking and pick pocketing while wearing gloves is really annoying. Even if the gloves have an enchantment to improve lock picking, that penalty still applies.
My question: Should be obvious now - will these gloves negate the lock picking penalty for normal gloves, as they should? Because to have those enchanted to improve my lock picking would be, well, great! Really great!
Ahh. Copy that. That's a no then - I just checked the original. Wish I was good enough at modding to do it... Maybe I'll try to figure it out. If I manage it, I'll get back to you with it, hopefully quickly - like by next weekend, if I can do it attall.
My thanks and appreciation for the prompt response!
That's a feature of Stealth Skills Rebalanced, right? Unless it's in the base game and I just never knew? Tbh, if you listen for the sound a lock makes when you hit the right spot you can open even master level locks without damaging your lockpicks at the base level 15 lockpicking
Stealth Skills Rebalanced is LE only. It's also a kind of change I would be leery about effecting mid-game.
Here is what the Nexus page says:"Gauntlet penalty - Until you've taken the relevant perk, you'll receive a lockpicking penalty for wearing gloves or gauntlets. However, bracers and fingerless gloves do not receive the penalty." So it only does so for 50% of available options. This is the same as Vanilla, I believe (or more likely, Ordinator, which I have.)
I have been told before about the lock picking sound. But I have hearing damage - not with volume, but with clarity. Sounds, voices, are all slightly blurred and indistinct. So sound cues don't really work for me, unless very distinct. No subtlety allowed. I have to play with all subtitles enabled, just to keep up.
BTW, it is, as mentioned above, in the Vanilla game (or Ordinator) as a Perk - but I have found it to be er... oddly selective in which hand-wear it removes the penalty from. This is why I jumped on the idea here.
In truth, all I need to do now (yah, took me a day to think of it), is download these gloves, and use them, because fingerless gloves do not receive the penalty. I can even add in a Fortify Pickpocketing enchantment, so that the gloves are good for both Locks and Pockets. And I must note that I realized the truth of this last paragraph only once I'd reread that "Gauntlet Penalty". Not the first time I've learned by explaining.
My thanks - your kind of friendly helpfulness is what keeps this game as special as it is!
Somehow, RL interrupted me last year (could've been one of several things), and when I came back to the game I had forgotten this. Just found the bookmark I'd been bright enough to keep. Yes!! Downloading now, and looking forward to playing with these gloves!
This will be great when playing as a race with claws :) I always found it weird and unimmersive how the unarmed damaged increase worked when you had gloves on.
where was this mod a week ago when I started my new playthrough, couldn't find any fingerless gloves that weren't terrible in vanilla. thanks for the port, bud
I just want to point out that it's freakin hard to find a decent pair of fingerless gloves in the real world. Now my dragonborn is better outfitted than I am.
