    For anyone else coming to ask (I was this person who didn't know console commands well just a couple months ago);

    -hit ~ key
    -enter help "throw rock"
-this will show you the spell and it's code
    -enter into console player.addspell theabovecode
    -all set!

Here's a page that shows all of the console commands and if you hit the AV link that leads to a page with codes to change values. http://skyrimconsolecommands.blogspot.com/2013/01/list-of-skyrim-console-commands.html

For anyone who can't find the spell ID of "throw rock" using the pinned comment, it's because you need to type "throw stone" instead.  Took me longer than I'd like to admit to figure that out.

Pretty sure that if there was a little animation with it and a key to press, not a spell, it would get really successful.
Just played Kingdom Come 2 and there is this feature, it's really cool.

Thank you! I want to play as a 'Thief', not a killer!

You might want to add a way for the player to acquire the throw stone power. The ESPFE version at least (I haven't looked at the other version) only contains the spell, magic effect, and projectile, so you have to use the console to get it if you want it.

Apart from that minor inconvenience, this is very cool.

yeah i did it like that intentionally because i felt like it was weird to have a book that teaches the player how to throw a rock haha

i could probably have it add the spell automatically upon loading into the game but honestly i'm not 100% sure how

      • Create a quest
      • Set it to "start game enabled" and "run once"
      • Click okay
      • Double click on the quest to open it back up. You'll have more options.
      • Add a reference alias
      • Choose to set it to a specific reference, select "(any)" for the cell, and then set the reference to the player ref
      • In the spells box for the player reference alias, add your spell.

This could also be done with SPID, as a lightweight alternative to the quest for SKSE users ;)

Last I checked, SPID wouldn't distribute to the player, only to NPCs. Has that changed?

Agreed, lol. Reminds me of Apollodown, minus the aggressive social politics.

Soooo awesome. I've always wanted this for making stealth more fun, and in some case just possible. Thank you so much Aureoy.

Making this into a spell tome but making the actual object for the tome an actual rock or small sack could be a good compromise, as I saw from a comment a book teaching you the spell seems kind of goofy. If you want, let me know if you're okay with me adding a patch for that someday.

For anyone interested I made the following edits in SSEDIT, which just fine tuned this for my tastes.

-The sounds of "charging" and the rock flying through the air have been changed to a dust sound and swoosh sound respectively

-The "equip type" of the spell is changed to right hand, which ed1990on suggested in another comment thread here

Thanks IzzyCoffin, I incorporated your sound suggestion into my version of this mod and gave you credit. Also, I had already changed the spell to "EitherHand" instead of just "RightHand" which allows left-handed characters to use the other hand if they want.

Both work, but the .esl version is spam-able whereas the .esp version is not.  As a level 1, I was able to kill a whiterun guard and 3 imperial soldiers with the .esl version, and the throwing arc restriction was not noticeable.  The .esp version acts as the mod is intended (lore-friendly) whereas the .esl version is an unrestricted version of the mod.

I used the ESP version and compacted the formids myself and then flagged it as ESL and it worked ok for me doing it that way.

Just added before I run off to burn a hive and rob a safe! Probably not needed but I have PTSD from trying to do that mission early in a playthrough with YASH and there really just wasn't a way for me to do it and I bashed my head against a wall for too long lol. This would have made the difference.
