Do you have the correct Apachii Hair pack for Lydia? Lydia requires the female only pack, not the male and female pack. If you are missing this file, it will cause a black face because it is a required master file. This is the number one problem that causes black face, so please double-check that. If you do have that file, please let me know, and we'll try to figure it out from there.
Very interesting, as I too have had black faces in the past, not my own personal face, lol, so I've something new today, thanks for the explanation, super helpful.
Had you already met Lydia in game before you installed this? If so, that's the reason. Once a character has been encountered, those sorts of things are baked into the playthrough and can't be changed.
Hmm. You could try putting my Lydia below Dragonfly BBP in your load order and see if that makes a difference. I'm not sure it will though because of the weirdness of Skyrim and its baking odd things into playthroughs.
I love this mod! If possible, I would give it two endorsements. And thanks for the great discription of vanilla Lydia - I fits perfectly and has given me a great laughter!
Hello, I haven't installed this mod yet, but wanted to check out where the Lydia files are stored. Why can't I find a "FaceGenData" folder in \meshes\actors\character\ ? I also cannot find any file called "000A2C8E.NIF" (which all these Lydia mods seem to use) anywhere on my system? Where are the vanilla Lydia .nif files stored?
Do you have any other skin, body, or texture mods? Any mods that alter Lydia in any way? If so, it is probably caused by a conflict, so you will need to uninstall them. Are you using the Better Females mod I recommended? If so, install Lydia first, then Better Females over top of it. That's what I did, and it worked fine. Let me know if any of this helps. If not, I'll try to think of something else.
As stated in the description, Lydia requires the Female Standalone Pack from Apachii Hair, not the Full pack. That is why she has a black face because you are missing a required file. You can download the Female pack and run it alongside the Full pack without issue.
I was having the same problem. I thought I had the right ApachiiSkyHairFemale_v_1_5, but I was using the version labeled "Optimized" and that didn't work.
After puzzling over this and looking for clues, I realized I was supposed to be using the older version of ApachiiSkyHairFemale_v_1_5 that did not have the NIF optimization on it.
The mod is working fine now. I like the new Lydia!
Since the two files had the same version number, I thought I should use the more recent. I was mistaken.
I'm glad you got it to work, Lastrati. I haven't played Skyrim in a while, so I didn't know Apachii had updated her hairs. Whenever I get around to playing again, I'll see how things work with the optimized Apachii hairs and make adjustments to the mod.
No, you don't have to downgrade your version of Apachii Sky Hair. It works fine with the latest version. I just said to try the older version IF you were having problems that weren't solved by having the correct hair pack, etc. If you are having a black face, make sure you have the correct version of Apachii Sky Hair. Lydia requires the FEMALE ONLY pack, not the male/female pack. If you have the correct hair pack, make sure you have no other mods that modify Lydia.
I'm sorry to have to say this but it seems like this should have been uploaded ready to go instead of still needing to be fixed first. All this mod does is give Lydia a black face. How do I completely restore the files for Lydia to the default files?
Um, it is uploaded ready to go and works fine for almost everyone. The black face is likely caused by a conflicting mod. Do you have any other body, texture, etc., mods that alter Lydia in any way?
I wonder How you make lydia walking like girl. Were using all feminim mods out there but, she the only one still walking like ape, other women walk normally. Its marked on save game. Unless i can edit savegame or start new game. Can this problem solved by simple esp? havent test your mod yet, currently using other overhaul atm. It will be great if you can help me solve this lydia walking style without appearance changing
There is a setting in the Creation Kit. After you bring up Lydia, go to the "Traits" section (I think that's where it is.), and uncheck the box that says "Opposite Gender Anims." Before closing the CK, click on Lydia's name and hit Ctrl + F4. This will export the FaceGen data, which is always a good idea to do if you ever make any changes to a character. Save the plugin and exit the CK.
If you've already met Lydia in-game, she may still walk like a man. The only thing that may fix her is if you bring up the console, click on Lydia, then type "disable" and hit enter. Then type "enable" and hit enter.
tried that, make a new esp, disable then enable. well she still using male walking animation i guess its bound to savegame file. even mods cant change that, unless use the mods before meet lydia. anyway thanks for help, appreciate that
